That’s rough. I’ve been playing enough storm to not just get dumpstered by that at least. But the first few times I played with beseech I got really hurt by getting enduranced In spots like that you get song and keep zeros in your hand to get the ball rolling. You only need a few hits off those zeros to get north of 99% real quick
6:11 Is it maybe better to not cast the second Dark Ritual and just hold it in your hand? You don't need the mana this turn and Galvanic Relay just converts it into another random card, but one Dark Ritual is a pretty good card to hang onto. The only downside I can think of is if it gets Thoughtseized.
Good vid, 25:35 you had peer into the abyss by imprinting song of creation to chrome mox instead of veil which gives you red for burning wish so you can go chrome mox pitch song, dark ritual, LED, LED, burning wish crack both LEDs get peer, 8 mana floating which i think is the best line there based on ops deck.
Only the second part. Spells with mana value greater than the number of lands just can't be cast, it's not that they are countered. So indeed beseech he can't cast, much less bargain it.
I think against some of the control decks, empty for 10 1/1’s will win most games right? Like when you are playing control decks can you beat turn 2 10 goblins?
41:00 it didn’t matter because they had the double daze, but you could have rite out of the graveyard, burning wish for peer, exile it with chrome mox and dark ritual up to beseech playing around 1 daze. Then you have 2 baubles to beseech twice. Double daze was such a beating regardless
I might be missing something but I think it's easier than that - Song of Creation gives you an extra land drop so you can cast Badlands out of the graveyard.
38:08 common deck lol… this moment right here reminds me of every time i play a deck that shreds me to learn how to beat it and i end up saying to myself… how in the hell do these people ever win with this deck lol…but then you realize it’s just you
I dont know how different it is when watching pro storm players but i always see decks like this as super disrupt-able on every front you can disrupt someone. Graveyard hate, artifact hate, counterspells, hatebears. Just anything that can mess up a deck will mess up this
I'm not entirely sure why Opal is boarded out before Chrome. I assume it's because Opal is legendary, and so you can only have one on the field as a bargain... but at the same time, in most of these games you've been throwing out the chrome without actually exiling anything (because the cards in your hand are there to be used) just to be used as a sacrifice for Beseech, and it seems rare that you have multiples of either. If you kept your bauble around, you could at least get one mana out of the opal, and if you actually did draw multiple you could just legend-rule them after tapping, right? Plus it provides more flexibility as to the color of mana you want (especially if that color is green, since you don't typically have spares). I'm an idiot, mind, and really don't understand how to productively use LED between triggers and searches and spells and so on, so I'm probably wrong on this one... I just can't intuit why.
I don’t honk your supposed to always exchange dark ritual for random card with relay. In acreage I would say dark ritual is Bette r then most cards in the deck
With 2 or 3 LEDs you wish for it and just draw half your deck. It's really quite easy to cast if you get going, though with beseech and gaea's will it's no longer the usual line you try to take. Before beseech it was the main way to win.
Game 1 turn 1. might it have been worth baiting stile by cracking the fetch immediately? a stifled fetch is bad, a stifled storm trigger is worse. If I was your opponent and I saw you playing out lots of artifacts, I might guess you're trying to storm off and would hold the stifle
Brian, I hope you’re doing well. Don’t feel too bad about all the dinguses in the comments who’re nitpicking your plays. It’s enough to give anyone a complex.
you should really think about Manamorphose in this deck. It converts red and green mana to black (even double black), and cantrips - its free storm and mana conversion!
What would be the cut? Artifacts are required for the Mox, so Bauble cannot be cut. Also, black is much easier here (as opposed to the Modern version of of this deck), so I'm not sure fixing is a super huge deal. I'm curious what storm folk think, though.
Manamorphose certainly isn't free. This is a solidly 4-color deck so the chances of you adding the wrong colors of mana for the card you draw are very high. It is "free" storm but so are 0-drops. Also, Tony Scapone and Bryant Cook both don't play Manamorphose. They are Legacy storm experts and if they don't play it, I don't think it's good lol
Manamorphose is a filler card for when you have nothing better to do. Storm currently has a lot of things it needs to be doing and can't afford the space.
Keep in mind he's not a great pilot. As much as I love his content this is a really convoluted deck and takes a lot of practice to get right, and he admits that and openly points out his mistakes. I'd say mono-b saga storm is probably gonna be a better storm deck in the current meta just because it does have the backup saga grinding lines. But as far as storm decks go this is definitely a close second, plus they update the deck list every couple of weeks tweaking and tuning it. Trying new lines and things it's very much not an end all be all deck list.
@sobman song seems interesting to me. And Brian with TES said about 20-25% of his wins have been using song to avoid absolute blowouts like that one game against lands
Dealer's choice and Brian picked storm? Hype.
Veil was stopping Lavinia from countering the petals. Could have resolved them for the extra storm if you had wanted.
yeah could have killed delver too :(
26:12
You expected an f6 with no green sources, but it was me, Bajuka Bog!
Always happy to supply a dealer's choice!
watching the lavinia game and screaming VEIL OF SUMMER LETS YOU CAST YOUR ZEROES BECAUSE THEY CANT BE COUNTERED BY LAVINIA
Me here being like.
Same
Very much appreciate you taking the time to try someting and show how hard some of these decks can be
I think we need more storm leagues. If for nothing else, pratice and entertainment.
26:18 I've definitely been got by that before as well. I tried to wasteland a saga before it could make Mana and they had Yavimaya in play..
That’s rough. I’ve been playing enough storm to not just get dumpstered by that at least. But the first few times I played with beseech I got really hurt by getting enduranced

Sing me a song Brian. Make me forget all my troubles...

44:56 veil of summer stops lavinia :)
Oh shit good catch!
It is kinda weird since the two abilities have different text - cant cast and counter if cast
Only the second part. Spells with mana value greater than the number of lands just can't be cast, it's not that they are countered. So indeed beseech he can't cast, much less bargain it.
@@gnogara i am fully aware, it was just the second part that was relevent to the part of the video i was refrencing :)
R1 G3, I'm confident that going for Empty with 10 Goblins instead of Echo should have been an easy win.
EPIC STORM BABY #1 TENDRILS FAN IT LOOKS LIKE ITS A GOOD DAY FOR A STORM
Song of Creation in TES is peak MtG
I'm curious if bryant would be interested in making a review of the league video talking about what he would do differently.

i kinda wanna see you revisit the modern mishra deck you showcased about a year ago, but revised for legacy with beseech 😏
Wait a minute, you're not Bryant Cook!
Only on the intro but this is greensunzenith erasure.
There could have been arguments for peer into the abyss at some point
This isn't the most epic storm deck in creation, it is just a tribute.
@ 16:10 If you kept the Burning Wish, you could wish for Galvanic Relay and go one card deeper
I dont know how different it is when watching pro storm players but i always see decks like this as super disrupt-able on every front you can disrupt someone. Graveyard hate, artifact hate, counterspells, hatebears. Just anything that can mess up a deck will mess up this
TY VM MR BOSH
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
44:55 arrgh you decided not to cast petal for grapeshot on lavinia because you thought lavinia would counter it but you were stil under veil of summer
59:38 nice job finding the creative line in the last game of match 4, but could you have just wished for Peer with a bunch of floating mana?
I really should port this into cedh
In B4 I watch Bosh's brain melt

Let’s storm off!
bosh pack smoke em if you got em
If you decide to play storm at EW, which type/list are you leaning towards?
The EPIC storm and ruby storm, which do you think is better now?
I don't have recent reps with Ruby storm, but I suspect TES is better.
Hello Folks !
Could someone explain me why Peer into the Abyss in sb ?
With 2 or 3 LEDs you wish for it and just draw half your deck. It's really quite easy to cast if you get going, though with beseech and gaea's will it's no longer the usual line you try to take. Before beseech it was the main way to win.

Obligatory Lavinia Veil comment 🧐
What happened round two game one? They had crop rotation up, but what land saves them there? You just scooped and didn’t say why….
Bojuka Bog exiles my graveyard and I have nothing
Ooo I didn’t think of the bog! Yupppp that’ll do

Tougher to play
This deck does not look viable in this meta.

The deck is fine, I'm just a brick at playing it.
I'm personally a fan of monoB saga storm myself as well. I like being able to grind things out.
I feel like a SB Strike It Rich could be helpful for fixing Beseech mana here
