Dune Prophecy is not too far away from releasing on Max, and after the success of Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies, I wonder whether the series can continue the success of the Dune property on the small screen. There have also been things going against the series and troubles during production. But I discuss its potential and whether I think it can work. But are you excited for the Dune Max series and do you think it can live up to the trailers and footage we've seen thus far?
Interestingly, I'm equally as intrigued by this show as I am nervous it may tarnish the absolute perfection that Denis Villeneuve forged out of love, passion and a lifelong love of the subject matter. True auteurs are few and far between. Imagine if back in 1980 - only 1 year after "The Empire Strikes Back" premiered - that "The Book of Boba Fett" premiered on Television.... telling the tale of what happened next...What may that have done to "Return of the Jedi"? What may this do to DUNE: Messiah? I truly hope this ends up being something special. We all - fans of DUNE...need it to succeed.
You have made a fascinating comment and I am very intrigued by the psychology behind your thoughts. What you say here is a common thought among many fans of geek culture, not just in movies but in all forms of media. I am an old fart, 52 years old, born in 1972 and I was 5 years old in 1977 when I saw Han shoot Greedo first in the movie theater one hot summer day. Star Wars has been through the ringer long before Disney got a hold of it. Not only was I not a fan of the prequels. But I was actually not a fan of Return of the Jedi in 1983 when I was 11 years old. The tonal shift from Empire to Return was very jarring for me at the time. I wanted Star Wars to grow up WITH em. However George wanted me to revert back to childhood which I was incapable of doing. Return of the Jedi is not only a movie made for children, but it ruined the lore that was building. But you know what? It didn't ruin or tarnish or have ANY effect on the first two movies for me. I just never wanted to watch Return of teh Jedi ever again. I love the first two movies though. So my question is, how does a bad sequel somehow in any shape or form have ANY effect on what came before it? For me a bad sequel or TV show has ZERO power to influence the things I love and enjoy. Fascinated by your comment. I'm genuinly curious if a bad TV show or sequel had somehow RUINED a prvious movie or TV show for you? Please explain. Not to be a dick but I kind of feel sorry for you that media has so much influence over your happiness.
Well given the fact this series takes place 10,000 years before Paul was born it wouldn’t necessarily have an impact on Dune Messiah. But will the show have an overarching impact on the Bene Gesserit and the future generations of the Sisterhood? Maybe.

Dune Prophecy will be the only reason I will renew Max!!! As a Dune maniac I just can’t let this event come and go, the success will also depend on Us, so let’s do our part on this!!!!!
What I would really like to see is an adaptation of The Butlerian Jihad three novels. For me these three books are as good and as important as Herberts original trilogy. What it would take to do it right is huge and of the scale of Villeneuve's current trilogy. I believe these novels set the stage for everything that follows clear up to the end.
I think with the Legends trilogy the fandom has come to a consensus that Brian and Frank both had different views on the Butlerian Jihad. So if all three of Brian’s and KJA’s books were adapted not only will I think make Dune lose its prominence among the general public as they might get burnout, but the fandom will see it as just a cash grab and based off of something they deem as fanfiction anyway. But who knows? This show will tell if Dune has a bright future outside of DV’s movies. Since I’m a Dune diehard I will take what I can get and won’t throw a fit.
yeah i am more Dune is always welcome also Westworld is HBOs Sci-Fi adaptation yeah I am Excited Chris Masons Keiran Atreides a Ginaz Swordsmaster much like Duncan Idaho whom I liked from the Novel and Movie it does have an Advantage of its Source Material which is good.
While I’m sure it’s always been like this, sci-fi fantasy fan bases have become increasingly miserable and bitter about any adaptation that doesn’t stick 100% to their expectations
I’m a bit worried because it’s going for the same aesthetic, which is something the set designers, costume, Denis Villeneuve, producers, and Greg Fraser made. If you don’t have all of those on board, I bet it’s going to be hard to replicate it. Or just feel like they’re trying hard but it’s not organic. Also, choosing to do the sequel books written by Brian Herbert and co will definitely not be as intriguing as the main line books. But I get that they couldn’t work ahead of messiah.
No. No, it won't. I lost hope after I heard the line, "A sister on the throne". It suggested a worn out modern take on Herbert's universe. But maybe I'll be surprised.
Aight no way BUT I’ve kept my expectations low ever since seeing the trailer and the seemingly low budget “law of order” vibe budget it appeared to have. I hope I’m wrong but I definitely won’t like it because it’s not “better” than the movies. I’ve kept myself from comparing to hopefully be surprised
I’m not holding out any hope for this series. Their money would’ve better been spent investing in a Children of Dune sequel series. Use Frank’s works, not Brian’s.
How could it? That’s a high watermark for any movie or TV show, regardless of franchise, but I’ll be happy if the show is at least solid. There’s a ton of history and lore to be explored.
Dunes story is beside first book quit intellectual. So, no chance without great actors, script and images that express the epic story line.I see no hope for such in the trailers…
I got a feeling there is a bit of an acolyte vibe here… No one has been able to create a good female, centric, sci-fi, yet… Whenever I see so many women in charge and women in roles, I get the sense that there will not be a heroes journey, and there will be more of that girl, boss mentality… But then again eventually, they will have to learn the lesson… Maybe they have done
of course not. You're setting yourself for dissapoinment there. Still looks pretty decent. Just have to wait and see. But it's a remarkable thing. Don't think anyone expected such a succes with the two Villeneuve movies. Hollywood has woken up and smells a franchise.
It won’t be anywhere near. I think it’s going to very bad. It will be dam near impossible to replicate the feel of the movies in a tv show. This just isn’t something that needed to be made. Remember when we had great movies and we just let their reputation live on as great movies, instead milking every ounce of story out of them
@@JBTriple8 they are the exception. And it’s also an apples to oranges comparison. Star Wars was never a beloved novel with a fleshed out lore. Big difference
Probably will be cancelled after Season 1. Seriously, with behind-the-scene issues and such little fanfare, I highly doubt it can stand a chance regardless of quality. That, I can 100% guarantee. 👌
Oh Dear HBO made the Last of Us and made it Ugly and Woke an unwatchable shit. Everything that breaks from the source material in present day TV is shit.
I think it's gonna be flat and dull, trying to emulate Villeneuve without any of his talent. If its like any of the other countless modern sci fi shows it's going to be somewhat watchable, but slow and not very compelling.

I'm skeptically optimistic 🧐
Probably not, but if it gets close, then i consider it a win.
I’m not holding out any hope for this series. Their money would’ve better been spent investing in a Children of Dune sequel series. Use Frank’s works, not Brian’s.
... former showrunner from Westworld... what could go wrong?
Didn't the fallout show have producers from that show as well?
How could it? That’s a high watermark for any movie or TV show, regardless of franchise, but I’ll be happy if the show is at least solid. There’s a ton of history and lore to be explored.
Not even close. But hopefully it's good.
Doubtful. I'm really nervous that it'll be bad-bad
Still, I hope it's cool.
They should gave gone back between 500 to a thousand years...10,000 years seems too extreme
Garcia Jason Martinez Margaret Jones Brenda
I thought Dune 2 enigmatic, superb so not sure anything can beat it😊
It will not be like the Cinema experience
Dunes story is beside first book quit intellectual. So, no chance without great actors, script and images that express the epic story line.I see no hope for such in the trailers…
My money is on hell no. But even if its slightly worse itll be great. Well see tho
it will run for one season and then get cancelled, nobody watches tv anymore
If Ma’dib ain’t there , we ain’t there
I just hope it doesn’t look generic, fake and tired like the Disney shows.
Andor is far from Fake an Tired as with the Earlier seasons of The Mandalorian
@@JBTriple8 you’re right, Andor is the exception. My bad
The movie couldnt get the Lady Jessica right... the change and actress' performance was awful.
Thats going to be a big no 😂
from what I have seen so far its not for me. Not even close.
Dune: Girlboss Edition
The short ansers is no. The long also no.
It looks like a CW show
No, doesn’t even look like a decent attempt.
Dune feminisim
Most likely no. The end
IT WILL SUCK. and the next 5years of 17 new spinoffs being pumped out every other month will also all suck
It won’t be anywhere near. I think it’s going to very bad. It will be dam near impossible to replicate the feel of the movies in a tv show. This just isn’t something that needed to be made. Remember when we had great movies and we just let their reputation live on as great movies, instead milking every ounce of story out of them
Totally agree. Seems like everything is just IP mining these days. Just leave it alone
@@seanhartel5362 Andor & Rogue One have worked to The OTs Benefit don't hate it all
@@JBTriple8 they are the exception. And it’s also an apples to oranges comparison. Star Wars was never a beloved novel with a fleshed out lore. Big difference
Nope
Probably will be cancelled after Season 1. Seriously, with behind-the-scene issues and such little fanfare, I highly doubt it can stand a chance regardless of quality. That, I can 100% guarantee. 👌
No, it's fan fiction.
The Dune movies were good?
Best Movies of 2021 & 2024 and some of the Best Sci-Fi Films of the 2020's.
Dune 2 was not very good
Absolutely not.
No, it will not.
Oh Dear HBO made the Last of Us and made it Ugly and Woke an unwatchable shit. Everything that breaks from the source material in present day TV is shit.
Nope … Woke garbage…
I think it's gonna be flat and dull, trying to emulate Villeneuve without any of his talent. If its like any of the other countless modern sci fi shows it's going to be somewhat watchable, but slow and not very compelling.
If you’re into animation, scavengers reign is one of the best sci-fi shows I’ve seen in a long time
Hopefully it's not more Girl-bossing nonsense...
Girl Bossing has an existed since Star Wars(1977)
Too much focus on Chani in Dune 2... not a promising sign.
No, not Westworld. Westworld ruined the show by placing priority in portraying GIRLBOSS robot rather than telling the story. Damn it.
It will be garbage like House of Dragon
DUNE movies are good ? Sorry but really overestimated 🫣
