Around 55 minutes, you were speaking of looking up "creased" or "faded", etc. One thing that I have done that helps me find items is I misspell things because a LOT of sellers either can't spell or they inadvertently misspell it. Like if you're looking up "country," also look up "kountry" or like "George" could be misspelled "Goerge" or "cookbook" could be spelled "cook book". Just silly things like that have found me items I ordinarily wouldn't find. Or Christmas, you can also look up "Yule" or "Xmas" or whatever.
Another excellent video! It’s informative and once again you impressed me with your knowledge of so many different genres of collecting. I want to add a note: I sell a lot of books on eBay … when it’s a rare first edition that sells for more than $25 I include priority mail with it, instead of shipping it media mail. It gets to the buyer quickly and it comes with $50 insurance included with the price of shipping. I think it also impresses buyers that I care enough to ship by that method. People buying a really rare book are pretty excited about the purchase of it and they really don’t want to wait 8 to 18 days for it to arrive in their mailbox, which is very common with media mail.
I love it when i watch your videos and you show old commercials reminds me of my childhood, i'm 56 i think we're in the same age bracket. Thanks for the great info as always.
Before iPhones, I passed by a Tom Swift Galaxy Ghosts (last in the series) book for a buck. I looked it up on my home computer and saw it going for $300+. Tried to go back to the store the next day to no avail. Happy to have an ebay app on a smart phone these days.
Thank you for this video, I’m thinking about selling my childhood books which were also hand me down. I have quite a bit from the 60s. It’s interesting to go through the books with my kids because everything looks so different, including you have milkman in the cars and so forth, including some books, even with carriages. 🤣🤣 I’m also considering saving them for my children and they can sell them. I don’t know which one would bring more profit.
Media mail is horrible, I have literally send books media mail that were local and for some reason the tracking shows them going to other states and then slowly making their way back. Had two different packed take a month to deliver
Love old books always pick up older ones for kids ...have a heap of golden books in storage didn't know about the A etc. I loved the old cloth style books rare to find now
What a gem you are as always, I never knew there’s “So Much about how to sell books, now I have the time I do like to listen to your videos and take note of everything you say, Thankyou for Sharing so much 😮
Instead of double sided tape.... Elmers spray glue. Spray it on a little peice of paper use the sprayed paper to slide into tight places and aply the spray glue. A big can of spray glue will last you years and you will find a million uses for it.
Good evening A.P. I have tons of the education children books. That have sitting in my storage forever. I sell sports cards and comics and other collectibles. And I don't want to deal with them. When I get a chance I was going to donate them to a private own school, day care, home teaching programs or etc..
Thank you for this information children's vintage book is my favorite to sell. I am only been selling for a year and am still learning your Channel is one of the few I am considering doing a patronage.
Man,this is the absolute best one you've ever made ,the only way to learn is to research, and memory and hacking or exoteric examination in a whole of estate sales is the only way to find it
Many times Publishers will require that the dust jacket be clipped, when they recall the book... it shows it's been remainered... they also may put a small mark on the bottom of the book... I hated school... I spent a lot of time in libraries... waiting for siblings to finish practice...Laxvespa--LosAngeles... the other thing some of these ex-lib books, they may be the only place that you might find something particularly old... I've sold quite a few ex library books that I probably had the only copy, they fetch a good price...
Hi! I have been watching your channel for a long time now, and finally subscribed! I am usually in my room with a computer 10 feet away and I cannot subscribe from there! I watched one of your videos this morning, about old Children Books. I have four of the old Oz books you mentioned, and after researching, I am fairly sure they are each (definitely three of them) first editions. What is the best way to sell books? Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I always buy the Little Golden books if cheap but did not know about the 'A' marks. Are you selling these on eBay or elsewhere...I think you only sell on eBay but just curious. Thanks
I think the Fremantle Wharf purchase them from Queensland army barracks and brought all of the furniture over to Fremantle where it was put into the waterside workers shacks in Rockingham just a thought hope it might be what you have in mide
hi, first time commenting. I came across your videos about 3 weeks ago and have been listening or binge listening while I work. I am in the same field as you persay but alot less in the know of value of things ive aquired so I have simply just kept aquiring and selling very little. Cant express how much your videos have helped me and have been digging through all my collections or working on things funny enough while listening to videos that were randomly playing where you were featuring exact said items, for instance the little silver sugar serving dish or shot glass. That aside and many thnks for your knowledge and sharing I do have a few curious items that I have not been able to find information or value on and was curious to get your opinion. One item for example is door locking hatch mechanism thats complete with keys and war department tags on them from a bomber airplane i bielive it was. Another is a old prints of hamms bear ad schmidt and also some other brown and bigelow artist 3d ish contoured pieces of art, also a board game calll how to tell if your priest is cathlic... i have found that in a couple instances though, and i also have a lithograph print from new york muesum that is a picasso print. I know your busy so understand if no response happens here. Thanks again for all the educational videos it really has helped out a ton and keep up the awesome service you are doing for everyone out there looking to learn about all this stuff. also that might be of interest to you being you like music or records alot is a few record players I have you might like if your into collecting oldere ones. alright Im a bit adhd so need to cut this off before i go on and on. lol. Best regards
I have pounds and pounds of Golden books I have them up on mercari, should I put them somewhere else besides eBay cuz I don't like eBay too many scammers
Thank you! Don, about tobacco cards, some very old ones from the 1800s are really small. Would you list them together or individually and how do you determine the value? Thank you so much.
I have found two books here In Australia but I can only see two for sale in the USA and both come to about $230 after shipping to Australia but mine are in very good condition and the first edition for that publisher, how do I find out how much they are worth
I had to go look for that letter on the back page, I don’t see it in any of my books. I’m looking at one that is dated 1972. No letter. On the back page, right?
I remember the Ladybird books as a kid in the 1960s, they covered most subjects for kids back then even Jesus. Always surprised that even today they go for such little money, probably best to pass them on to other members of the family with young kids. I'm not into books that much and never was as a kid either, I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you, Don. Charles in the UK
