You know... I bought this game for the fighter jet play. I helped the Osean Navy, cleared the skies and went to go hit the ground forces... "Target coordinates set, Fire for effect Launch in five..." Then I heard the radio chatter from the Fleet. Then I saw the tomahawks crash into the ground targets. And I was screaming at the top of my lungs about it. Being former Navy that made me so happy.
Redid this mission today. Did you know the building in the submerged portion of the city are destructible? I didn't. But seeing a build fall on an Erusian battleship was fun.
I love how not-formula the intro sounds, you're expecting the AC04 farbanti theme or a AC5 chord progression but instead this fireworks show of brass comes in instead
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think “Battle for Farbanti” (tied with "Hush", but I have my analysis on that page as well) is overall Kobayashi's best work in the AC7 Soundtrack (even more-so than “Daredevil”) because it is most satisfying to listen to: -First, it has the perfect amount of buildup before the main theme comes in. Kobayashi gives you 43 seconds to immerse yourself in the drum beat before the first three notes of the main theme come in. But he doesn't quite give you the full theme yet, Kobayashi just plays around with those first three notes. He even tricks us into thinking the main theme will come it at 1:28, but it doesn't. So when the main theme finally appears in-full at 2:07, it feels even more satisfying. Compare this to "Daredevil," where the music takes over a minute-and-a-half for any hint of the main theme to appear. -Second, the main theme builds and immediately repeats, giving you almost a whole minute-and-a-half of nothing but the game's main motif. Compare this to "Daredevil," where the two renditions are spaced out with about another minute of tension-building between them. I think these two tracks are written this way because of the duration you are meant to hear them. The first phase of the Battle of Farbanti lasts a whole 15 minutes, so you hear this 4-minute track A LOT. This means it needs to feel constantly exciting and not repetitive, hence the feeling of things building up consistently; you never get bored with this piece. "Daredevil," on the other hand, is usually heard two or three time before the Arsenal bird is destroyed. It needs to be hard-hitting, but isn't written to beard on-repeat for a long time. -Third, "Battle for Farbanti" is structured very similarly to “Diapason” and “Liberation of Gracemeria,” two excellent tracks from earlier in the series, but with a similar drum beat to AC4’s “Farbanti.” These are all tracks that are a lot of fun to listen to, and you can really "bop along" with them, so to speak. "Daredevil" is a great piece, and is amazing in the context in which it appears in the game (it is timed perfectly with the battle and the shields on the Arsenal bird), but is a little overwhelming for casual listening outside of the game.
One of the biggest things I've noticed from this track is how little throwback there is to the track in Ace Combat 4. While there is a little, it's very subtle. The drumbeat is very different between the two tracks, The percussion setup is different, 4 being an amplified drum set with extra percussion playing a supporting role, and 7 being a full non-melodic percussion section (no bells, piano, xylophone, etc.) The opening bits are also fun to look at. The opening of 4's track has the percussion section seeming very sporadic, while the brass are completely together and in sync. 7's track is flipped, the opening shows the brass being very sporadic and playing more of a supporting role to the percussion which is timed well and together for some well accentuated percussion hits later on. Sort of a "Same story, different narrative" deal with Kobayashi in regards to the previous composer (I draw a blank on his name atm). The main similarity, and what I would really consider the biggest throwback, is the brass is the melody. Hands down, the brass plays the melody, the main theme, all other instruments are in support of that.
I think this track hit 2:06 during my first playthrough right as I was in the middle of an intense dogfight and I actually just screamed out "YESSSSSSSSSSSS." God I love this game's music so much.
Same, I spent the beginning of the mission establishing air superiority above Farbanti. The second time it hit I remember I was flying low over the water to assist the Osean navy. I honestly had a massive grin on my face throughout the whole mission cause not only is it a massive nostalgia trip, but the Battle for Farbanti is just amazing.
SavageLycan I love how most of the songs in this game keep that same basic melody you hear at 2:06 and Avril's takeoff in the beginning scene. Most beautiful music I've ever heard. Real music.
Even though this isn't a "liberation" track, since there's nothing really to liberate in this game, I think we can safely put it among the greats like Diapason or Liberation of Gracemeria.
In a way, the A-10 could potentially be more viable than more nimble fighters. Sure, it's slower, but it's also more stable, at least in my experience, letting me make turns to keep him on-screen with ease.
“Lately, as your company commander, I’ve felt some of you young bucks coming after my championship belt. You’re really putting the pressure on me, so I think I’m gonna go out there and a run up the score a little bit. Just to show you guys how it’s done. I trust I can count on all of you to keep up? Let’s get out there, take care of business, and come back in one piece!”
The death of Wiseman to Mihaly is the sole factor that gave me the burning hatred of a thousand stars of Mihaly that I do. In a way, Wiseman is your savior. He vouched you be taken out of Spare Squadron, and because Mihaly took his life, I ensure that every time all five of them show up, I bring the PLSL and make Mihaly helplessly watch as I turn his beloved squadmates into balls of flames and steel falling to the Earth below right before his eyes.

“LOOK AT WHAT’S LEFT OF OUR FORCES! DAMN THAT THREE STRIKES!” that made me smile and it was perfectly timed with 2:49 which made this soundtrack one of the best if not the best in my opinion
1:25 I never noticed it before but you can hear parts of Mihaly and Sol Squadron's theme here foreshadowing their arrival. Then your theme starts blaring right on top of their theme almost drowning it out symbolizing you turning the tide of the battle.
Most people choose the A-10 cause there's mostly ground targets and minimum air resistance. And then Mihaly with the Sols come in like, "Yeah, pretty poor choice you made, I'd say."
Briar Mason haha that’s why I chose the F15C, and even once since there was a return line I used the F-4E, flying that low after Mihaly in the F-4 between the Buildings was the most fun I’ve ever had in a game.
What I like about this soundtrack compared to daredevil is that this mission was the first time the full armed forces of both Osea and Erusea square up against each other conventionally without drones and arsenal birds in the mix. And the soundtrack does such a good job representing that: for the first time, in a long time, Osea is showing Erusea the full strength of the republic in the call to arms at 2:50 . And then the ferocity of the pilots, and you, above them at 3:30. For the majority of the game (if you RP the fact you have been fighting in old aircraft as part of the penal SQD), you fought with shackled weights to your feet, but now you're fully unleashed at 3:30 . God I cannot fanboy hard enough at how musically perfect the compositions of this sound track was made not for this particular type of game but the overall melody of pilot culture and war. It's such a masterpiece to soundtrack overtures everywhere.
I thought I was the only one who played Old/Cold War Era aircraft in the Penal Squad Missions. Nice to know there is at least one other RPer out there.😆
If only during this mission, there was a line where an Osean soldier, like a commander of the armored unit to comment, "Look at that guy, he's moving like the Razgriz." That would have been amazing.
for sure yeah. then it would make some reference to razgriz and trigger. but you know that triggers squadron is not so stellar... except wiseman and trigger.

@@brianmateo8041 for myself I was verbally assaulting bandog while flying to the contact. Orders are orders but I knew I was dead the moment it showed up. Still lasted like 4 minutes
It's written in a very similar manner as an homage to the original Battle of Farbanti back in Ace Combat 4. but Kobayashi's version is a little more modern. Ace Combat 7 is later on, so the more modern composition works. That being said. The drum beat is vastly different. Alternating 16th notes between the main snare and a small snare with some timpani added for a little more impact and buildup at the beginning. This changes after about the first 8 measures to very pronounced quarter note triplets followed by a quarter rest, and repeat. Compared to Ace Combat 4 which was very rugged and consisted primarily of a percussion set hooked up to an electronic amplifier (which gave it that almost guitar sounding ruggedness). Ace Combat 4's main percussion beat was triplet 16ths with an 8th rest between them. The rest was sustained via guitar which was also present and had a similar rhythm but sustained where the percussion rested. When the main theme in Ace Combat 4 kicked in, the rhythm of the percussion changed to two 16th notes followed by an 8th note (with again, sustain held by guitar) right into a 16th note triplet, which immediately repeats. Another thing to note is that the percussion at the beginning of the track in 4 is very sporadic with only keeping a base beat. Which is not mirrored at all by the percussion in the beginning of 7's track. The sporadic beat of the percussion in 4 is mirrored by the brass in 7, while the in sync brass part in 4 is closely mirrored by the percussion in 7. The main similarities between the two pieces lies with the brass. The first is that the brass section plays the melody, and the second is they also participate in part of the buildup. The buildup, is short and together in Ace Combat 4, while elongated and more sporadic in 7. will edit as I listen more.
A year too late but I just noticed the this track's violin backing, the one with the downward progression, matches that of Sol Squadron's OST. You can hear it a bit at @1:25. Its like its foreshadowing Sol Squadrons appearance. We knew it was coming in our bones from the soundtrack but we never knew it consciously.
Going back here in the Berkut felt so wholesome! It was a tradition for me to use it on the original Siege of Farbanti, so coming back here with that plane felt like a dream come true!

It's a recurring theme in Ace Combat that I like quite a lot. At first, nobody really takes you seriously, but by the end, even the most seasoned pilots run, and ground troops take cover.

I love how not-formula the intro sounds, you're expecting the AC04 farbanti theme or a AC5 chord progression but instead this fireworks show of brass comes in instead
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think “Battle for Farbanti” (tied with "Hush", but I have my analysis on that page as well) is overall Kobayashi's best work in the AC7 Soundtrack (even more-so than “Daredevil”) because it is most satisfying to listen to:
-First, it has the perfect amount of buildup before the main theme comes in.
Brooks Alderman I totally agree with what you say. Well said!! 👏
what do you mean im going to listen to this outside of game alot
It Is vERY GoOD.
One of the biggest things I've noticed from this track is how little throwback there is to the track in Ace Combat 4. While there is a little, it's very subtle.
The drumbeat is very different between the two tracks, The percussion setup is different, 4 being an amplified drum set with extra percussion playing a supporting role, and 7 being a full non-melodic percussion section (no bells, piano, xylophone, etc.)
The opening bits are also fun to look at.
100 % agree with you.
I love Daredevil but I think its a song that reserved for this special moment in the game^^
I think this track hit 2:06 during my first playthrough right as I was in the middle of an intense dogfight and I actually just screamed out "YESSSSSSSSSSSS." God I love this game's music so much.
I got so hyped during this mission. It felt like such a crucial turning point and I feel like this soundtrack signals that.
I was screaming “HELLL YEAHHH” as I executed a Post-stall maneuver to target and destroy 4 fighters approaching from the sunset 🌅
SavageLycan I love how most of the songs in this game keep that same basic melody you hear at 2:06 and Avril's takeoff in the beginning scene. Most beautiful music I've ever heard. Real music.

Nice to know there is at least one other RPer out there.😆
by lore you use an f-16c until the start of the strider squadron arch where you probably switch to an f-15 strike eagle

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SKY EYE
I think its my head playing tricks on me, but certain parts of this song sound like Farbanti from AC4.
Not all, but a few
Logan Gagnepain I think it is the drum beat.
At about 2:34 I always expect it to transition into the Ace Combat ZERO motif, like in "Diapason", but it never does. :/
