I have recently stumbled upon some updated info recently on these carriers so I am going to pin this comment for people to see this new info. First off, The original lots of M15 carriers dated 1960-around 61/62 will have a different shoulder strap design. The little strap that the D-ring is looped through is sewn facing towards the back of the carrier on the original carrier lots. They changed this relatively quickly and all the slighly newer carrier lots were made with that strap facing away from the carrier. You can see my 1st pattern carrier has such strap sewn towards the back of the carrier at 3:19 in the video. and all my other carriers for example my 2nd pattern at 6:45 has it sewn away from the carrier like most are. It turns out even 1st patterns can have the updated strap design so if your looking for the OG 1959-61ish carriers make sure to look out for that. Secondly, The ABC-M17 marked M15 carriers may have appeared earlier on then I initially thought. The name of the M-17 was changed on Oct 21st 1963 to ABC-M17 so the ABC-M17 marked carriers may have appeared sooner then I thought. This would also predate the M17A1 so disregard what I said about that in the video. As of now I still haven't seen any ABC-M17 marked 2nd pattern carriers with the early pockets that would be indicitive of a 1964 and prior carrier but they might still exist. Thats all I got for now but more of this might change so be sure to check back from time to time for possibly more updated information.
@@gl883 i currently own an MSA Advantage 1000. I dont like the blackhawk carrier for it rides too low on tbe thigh. This old school gas mask pouch rides higher right below the waist level

Wow. Good video! I wish more people were as well educated on their gear when making videos talking about militaria like this.
Good information with visual aid and reference.
