Clapton is great! Specially his 60s stuff. The tragedy about his greatness is that the players he "stole" from are never considered. To quote Buddy Guy, or rather paraphrase, "when Clapton plays a Muddy Waters tune everybody says it's a classic. But nobody plays or talks about Muddy Waters". I started on Clapton and as I started going back and checking his influences, I was shocked to see they are not just influences but straight lifted sometimes. To the point you think it's Clapton playing except it isn't and it's older than him.
Clapton is a hot rod enthusiast and he will kick your ass at foosball. He is also a very honest and open human being there is a very strong connection between his hands and his heart. He plays guitar. Jesus was a carpenter.
New five licks! Thank you! I think it will work well to put out series like this, 5 licks in style of... There are many out there but majority are very overwhelming with lots of bla-bla-bla and pretty long, short videos work best for me, that's why I love lick fridays :D
Hi, thanks for the lesson. For lick one, is it mainly downstrokes? Is there a particular way to attack the strings in terms of up and down motion? Thanks
That’s a wonder right?! I’m not sure how to push it forward I guess. I don’t understand the algorithms etc so my videos seem to float. Doesn’t change the fact that I enjoy making them though. I will always continue regardless of subs. Cheers man. Danny
amazing amazing amaizng; wow,,, the Bm in Clapton style.. thanks a lot Danny.. i do appreciate your attention to my request. would you tell me what is your favorite guitar for playing the Strat or ES Gibson?
Danny Page, can you make another lesson part#2 on Clapton Cream Era essential licks, woman tone cream era licks, doublestop licks in his solos and staccato licks?
I’m a bass player in a church worship group trying to learn to play guitar. Can anyone tell me which chords (I-IV-V) these licks would be ideally played over?
That’s a hard one! Out of my amps right now, I would say the Blackstar as it covers most styles. If I had the money I would get a Matchless or Mesa of some kind.
The world is and has been, full of good guitar players for a long time. Just think about people like Matteo Mancuso, Joe Satriani, Tommy Emmanuel, Guthrie Govan, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alex Lifeson, Mark Knopfler and Jeff Beck. I have never understood the fascination for the «stuck to pentatonic boring»Clapton. I am a mediocre guitar player myself, I will not claim that I’m better than Clapton, but this guy hasn’t convinced me that he is more than a mediocre guitar player who has not developed his skills or style any further since the late 60’s. He is very limited within the pentatonic dull style. He made one really great solo for The Beatles back in the day, and Cream was a great band. That’s all to it. Boring artist.
Have a listen to the solo on Richie Sambora’s Mr Bluesman. That is one of Clapton best solos imo. The pentatonic only seems boring to those who can make it sound interesting. It has so much to offer, and also rightly so will have its critics too. You are correct saying Clapton hasn’t changed since the 60’s but why would he? He has a formula that speaks to millions of listeners and for Clapton to even try and change it would change the Clapton sound. Leave that to another guitarist to fill that void. Want a different sound, listen to a different guitarist. You listed great guitar players, they all do their thing. If you listen to that artist song by song you will notice a formula that works for them. Personally, claptons earlier stuff was great but seems to have mellowed on studio recordings. Cheers..
@@DannyPage I’m a bit sorry about this. I did not mean to offend anyone. I just think that Clapton is somewhere about my own level. ( I’ m bored with my own skills.) Saying that: ironically, maybe I’m too influenced by people like Clapton. (I have to admit that he has done his impact on me. Maybe I should be thankfull, though I think that his music is boring) I have to admit that are so many great musicians around, and to forget that someone helped them forward.

Great lesson it helps tons! Do you have tape of your live gigs. I would love to jam with you.
How in gods name have you not got 10million subs???

amazing amazing amaizng; wow,,, the Bm in Clapton style.. thanks a lot Danny.. i do appreciate your attention to my request. would you tell me what is your favorite guitar for playing the Strat or ES Gibson?
Well, actually neither. It’s my Les Paul Standard. It’s sounds awesome.
@@DannyPage many thanks
Great technique Danny. Which model strat are you using?
It’s a 68 Jap reissue made in 1986 with American standard pups.
My main guitar is identical to the one you are playing except my knobs, pickups, and nut are black.
Danny Page, can you make another lesson part#2 on Clapton Cream Era essential licks, woman tone cream era licks, doublestop licks in his solos and staccato licks?
Sure no probs. I will do that in the first part of next year. Which isn’t that long away!
@@DannyPage sounds good I can't wait to see it. BBC sessions album, live at royal albert hall 2000's have some good licks

Do you listen to mick taylor danny.?
No doesn’t come in to my listening list. I will now though. Were you thinking of a few mick Taylor licks for this channel in particular?
Yeah some licks by mick taylor would be great im a big fan of he's playing hes a great blues player@@DannyPage
Lick One 3:52 4:52 Lick Two 6:43 Lick Three 7:50 Lick 9:21
Good idea that. Thanks
Straight to it! Encouraged to stop, grab my bargain tele and practice your very clear demo’s! Super appreciated!
Cheers mate
I like - Lick like Clapton with these five essential licks. Have you done a "Lick like Jimmy Page with these five essential licks" ?
lick3
unknown? ahahah
These don't sound much like Clapton licks. They sound like your own.
I'll take that as a compliment. They are defo Clapton licks as I borrowed them from Clapton solos....
@@DannyPage They sounded very good.
@@JLH1956 Thanks. I wish I could remember from which solos they were from.
JUST A QUESTION??WHY ARE UOU WAREING A WOOLEN HAT INDOORS??
You must have all your hair
Nice but too much humm.
From the guitar? Or me? I think me as I um was um using um quite a lot as my brain was not fast um enough that um day.
@@DannyPage The guitar, mine doesn't make all that noise.
@@thegolfnut812 Oh. I think maybe it’s the combinations of pedals and amp. It is a tad annoying yes.
