These guys were in their mid-20s here, if that. To put a group together in their teens, master their instruments, master songwriting and the recording process and put a show on the road selling out stadiums all over the world... these fellas were well above the average human being.
One thing I don't quite comprehend... their song-writing used to be so very brilliant, powerful & touching(for the first 3 studio albums plus all the singles). And it seems that they couldn't surpass it afterwards...... (The "Astronauts" album is an exception.)
@@mattma96
Astronaut is no exception. And you are correct. The lyrics used to be very convoluted and deep.
And it's not just the lyrics. Where are the many layers of instruments? The funky bass? The haunting and/or rock guitar? The cool experimental synth? It's all gone.
Even without those ingredients they sometimes manage to create a good song like "Salt in the rainbow" but it still lacks that classic Duran Duran sound.
And they’re Brummies! Love me some Brum.
Amazing feedback Jon on the Duranies and I completely agree with every word!-of course I am biased because I have been a Duranie since I was a Teenager and was completely hooked by "Hungry like the Wolf" and their sound-this film was captured on their American tour when they basically took over the world and rightly so!-the albums that came after were different of course as any band evolves but when you are a fan you go with them on that journey!-thanks for your lovely words!
@@mattma96 Power Station ,So Red The Rose and Notorious are great as the first 3
In my opinion this is one of the best Duran Duran songs. It’s so beautiful, can’t wait to see them live!
I saw this tour live. Maybe 5th row.
The atmosphere, right. It just takes you to dreamland
I agree, probably there most underrated classic. What an atmosphere
Agree!! 😍😍
I met Simon in Cleveland during this tour, most handsome man I've ever laid my eyes on 💯 💋😘
Song from a higher realm. My deepest respect to the guitarist that plays the entire whale alphabet. It's sound is unbelievable.
Jennifer Connelly + Duran Duran= divine creation 😍❤️
Duran Duran ruled the world between 1982-1986..
And beyond
They were great.. And still are
As a cancer survivor I wish all the best to Andy
One of my very favorite Duran songs. I tear up every time I listen to this. Loved it at age 14, love it even more at 50.
I hear that and totally agree
This songs makes me tear up too. But it’s my favorite song along with The Chauffer. ❤️❤️
I think of love lost hearing this.
Exactly my feelings. ❤
can you tell me who is this girl that appears in the 1:51 ?
Best band in the World... I won't never stop saying it.
Гумберто Урданета don’t. Say it many times and I will join you because I agree with you 100%
We have to remember about those bands and artists who influenced them like Roxy Music, Bowie, Japan...
Criminally underrated ... consistent, brilliant composition and performance.
@@dancing_on_the_valentine_83 Bowie like a MFer
So you will stop saying it? You used a double negative, so that makes it a positive.
Lyrics and the atmosphere of The Seventh Stranger still bring a longing within me, even after 36 years.
You really spoke my heart out~~~~~~~
Wow, this is how I feel too. It really does something to my emotions.
What a voice Simon Le Bon has.
they loved your comment! look! :D
And it's even better now!
Oh yeah!!!! And he still sounds the same. Very very sexy!!!!
I agree😍😍😍😍😍
@@anthonydevito I saw them live in 2005 and was blown away. I sooooo need to see them again.
Andy’s guitar solo in this is so good! Great guitar player.
Man, a moment in time that can never be matched. And they were all deliciously in their prime. Yowza!
Their music is timeless for me. And despite listening to a song for the thousandth time over the years since 1984, they are still as fresh as if they had come out just yesterday.
My favorite group is Duran Duran. And I say that proudly.
Thank you for the music, guys.
When I listen this song I can breath the same magical atmosphere of that time . The magical of this song never ends ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So right there
Time machines were meant for moments like this. Can someone invent one now please?
TH-cam is sort of a time machine. 😃
I’ve always loved the cry in Simon’s voice. He sings this beautifully.
Best Group of 80's
Best Group Ever
As The Lights Go Down is still the best concert video ever produced…and this song was the star of that show - this song. It’s what made me a lifelong fan of Duran Duran - from 1984 till now.
Since the Corona Virus Quarantine(someone May read this yrs later, so I included it), I’ve immersed myself to the BEST Decade.. The 80’s!!
This song was underrated, & one of my favorites.
Unfortunately, here in 🇨🇦 it went pretty much unnoticed back in 80´s...at least on the charts and radio stations.
But we LOVED IT back then. I remember playing it to death when I listened to ARENA.
This was filmed at the Oakland Arena. I was there. Good times.
"Those words are all remainders
Echos growing in the heart of twilight
They lay back laughing at naivety's star
Awaken all those whispers
The dusty shadow of a passing favour
I wouldn't say that you were ruthless or right
I couldn't see from so far
Was I chasing after rainbows?
One thing for sure, you never answered when I called
And I wiped away the water from my face
To look through the eyes of a stranger
For rumors in the wake of such a lonely crowd
Trading in my shelter for danger
I'm changing my name just as the sun goes down
In the eyes of the stranger
Can't tell the real from reflection
When all these faces look the same to me
In every city such a desolate dream
Some days are strange to number
Some say the seventh sounds a little bit stranger
A year of Sundays seems to have drifted right by
I could have sworn in one evening
And I'm not seized in desperation
No steel reproaches on the table from before
But I still can feel those splinters of ice
I look through the eyes of a stranger
For rumors in the wake of such a lonely crowd
Trading in my shelter for danger
I'm changing my name just as the sun goes down
In the eyes of the stranger
I must be chasing after rainbows
One thing for sure you never answere when I call
And I wiped away the water from my face
To look through the eyes of a stranger
For rumors in the wake of such a lonely crowd
Trading in my shelter for danger
I'm changing my name just as the sun goes down
Walking away like a stranger
For rumors in the wake of such a lonely crowd
Trading in my shelter for danger
I'm changing my name just as the sun goes down
In the eyes of the stranger
In the eyes of the stranger
In the eyes of the stranger"
When I was a teenager, I always listened to DURAN DURAN. That's why I became interested in Western music. I am glad that you are still active. With lots of thanks and love from Japan.
Thanks
my favorite song ever❤been 80s❤
Not sure I could have gotten through the 80’s without Duran Duran and The Police.
My god...stunning❤❤❤❤
All the guys parts on that song are just beautiful. From Simon’s amazing vocals, nicks mysterious synth, John’s smooth and calm baseline, Roger’s catchy drum work, and last but certainly not least that warming soothing descending guitar riff from Andy, that’s my favorite
Gorgeous, talented guys totaly espically Simon.
Alexis Jeanne Duran Duran was the time of day for what
Ohh John, ohh John, the pillar and the spirit. A masterpiece. What a band.
Ahhh, what a voice!! One of my very favorites! His lyrics like poetry!!
Very sexy voice 😍 !!!!
I was at this concert 😊
oh fuck...40 years back...❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Those words are all remainders
echoes growing in the
heart
of
Twilight"
Seven and the Ragged Tiger is the ultimate successor album to Rio, I've really been digging this track and 'I Take the Dice' as of lately.
What a great bass player is John Taylor. Here he is, in pure Mick Karn style.
Great live performance!
Simon le bon has got a wonderful Voice.
Andy's guitar 3:07 ❤️❤️❤️
their guitar today SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
He does a good job, love Union of the Snake, he makes that..
@@justindawson3616 Lonely in Your Nightmare
Very good touch guitarr 👍👍👍
Behind these FIVE beautiful faces comes real & brilliant music talent. It's pretty amazing how Andy makes his guitar scream like a dolphin in this live performance of "The 7th Stranger"... and John's fretless bass playing is so impressive...... It's always said that music in Major key usually gives a happy vibe, however, it doesn't apply to "The 7th Stranger"......
This group sure found the right singer. For the Duran Duran.
this song destroys any theory about boys bands being mindless, these guys, Duran Duran, they were just raw pure talent, they could write, compose, play and sing their songs,,, and what songs.. long live simon, roger, nick and the rest of the lads, you are true legandary..
They weren't a "boy band" they were "the band", their songs were the best, different from anything anyone's ever heard. They cannot be compared to NKOTB, Nsynch, or Backstreet Boys, comparing them would be criminal...
@@mnljh711986 I'm serious! I got so pissed when those kinds of bands got more attention! all they did was copy what their managers told them and sang songs that none of them write and they were put together by a management team and never had to pay their dues like these guys!
Boy bands are mindless. Thankfully DD are a band
@@mnljh711986 i agree with you, however, back in the 80's .. and i was lucky, i been there, they were called 'boys band' in the midia, now some 35 years after i can see how calling them that was so wrong..or the 'boys bands' quality of nowadays went so low..
One of the songs that sounds better live
I gruw up with the fab five, they helped me when I was down, I just play those Duran tunes and I was up an running .... Happy , lightful Trax !!!!!!
Jennifer Connelly makes one of her earliest appearances here. While in Britain, she'd appeared in an episode of "Tales of the Unexpected" (1982) and followed this with a bit in the video for Duran Duran's "The Union of the Snake". She had been working in her first film at the time, Sergio Leone's "Once Upon a Time in America" (1984), which was her feature debut. The film "Phenomena" followed and then this appearance here. She appears in the video at 0:09-0:17, 0:38-0:46, 1:14-1:20, 1:47-1:50, 1:51-1:55, and then is out until way late at 4:33-4:42.
She was never in Tales of the Unexpected. The episode in question is here on TH-cam, go watch it. She would not have travelled to the UK at age 11 to appear on an episode of a Midlands TV show.
@@Hastur876 Right! It was a urban legend
Also Jennifer was widely known for her modeling work especially in japan and europe
hands up, no cell phones....aaahhhh those were the days
Absolutely fantastic song, lyrically brilliant, sung perfectly by Simon.
Ojalá ese tiempo se volviera a repetir, sentir ese momento que nunca más sucedió. Gracias, Duran Duran, por ser la banda sonora de nuestras vidas.
Amazing atmosphetic song
Perhaps one the best songs as the closing track of the album "Seven and the Ragged Tiger"... these chaps from Birmingham, England have the proven talent.
One of my favourite songs, always gets me teary eyed.
Early Duran Duran ballads were so lovely and underrated back then. They’re adore now. Love this ballad alone with Lonely In Your Nightmare. Love all DD music. My all time favorite band
One of the masterpieces of the band and with New Religion and Union of the Snake, one of my favourites as a kid. The postapocaliptic vibe joins the introspection, the nostalgia for the future, the romantic lyrics. Shelley,Byron,Keats would be proud.♥️♥️♥️
I miss THIS Duran so much! This was the first Duran tour I saw. I swear this song just wrapped itself around the audience. It was incredible. Andy will always have my Duran heart! ✌️🫶
"ARENA" FOREVER "DURAN DURAN"
This song is so great and Duran Duran is surely the best.Simon Le Bon has a wonderful voice.
Such gorgeous guys 🥰!!!!!
Gracias por el pasado, gracias por el presente y gracias por lo que vendrá, "eternamente Duran Duran".🎶🎶
Pure brilliance in lyrics and music so right now to listen to in 2024
Andy Taylor genial su guitarra
Me encantan !!! Mis eternos príncipes azules 😍😍
This was my 16th Duran Duran concert .. they were outstanding..
it’s on a par with the first reunion gigs …
the bass sound on guitar and drum was magnificent.. lighting show and set .. top class
… we have been lucky in Ireland .. two shows in the last 12 months .. ok for a small country…
We may have some European dates before Xmas 2023 🤞
grandissimi DD the legend!!!👏👏🔝Rome from italy🇮🇹
Great version
John, you're loved!
These beautiful men collectively became a grand part of my life.. Duran Duran's music has influenced so much of the person I've become..I am forever grateful and humbled that God saw fit to bring this amazing band into this world..I am truly a fan for life
Man, those synths!
Hearing this live again during the Vegas shows made me very emotional for some reason. I am not an emotional type of person, but this song did it, both nights. #DD40
I totally understand! I was at the Friday night show and got teary eyed. Probably because I first heard Simon sing it in 1984, Philadephia. DD, My first concert. And then I find myself in Vegas, so many years later, hearing it again, live. This band, my all time fave!
@@natsdiane3247 Well, If I have to be emotionally linked with a band and their music I am very happy it is Duran Duran.
Tuvimos la suerte de crecer con todo este tipo de musica , las nuevas generaciones de ahora viven en una nube de humo
These old boys helped me thru my coming of age and they will forever be the band that broke me free! Thank You so much Duran Duran because whenever I feel blue and I need a familiar sound to keep me in my own, it’s you that I listen to.
UNICI, I MIGLIORI, RICORDI DI ADOLESCENZA, GRANDI DURAN DURAN 🎸🎵🎹🎤🔝🔝🔝👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favorite songs of all time! Beautiful!!
Desde quando você curte o sono de duran duran@
Erika T. Bus, same here. This beautiful song by Duran Duran is definitely one of my all-time favourite songs too, yet another fantastic song by one of the greatest pop groups from the fabulous '80s. Makes me glad I have copies of both the "7 & The Ragged Tiger" and the "Arena" albums.
This brings back so many memories
love this awesome version live from the Arena album, epic!
I can’t remember what I had for lunch, but I remember every word to this song. ❤️. Turning 50 this year. DD FOR LIFE!
I don't know why but when the lyric say: "The dusty shadow of a passing favor" I always cry.
Maybe it's because the voice of SLB, absolutely unique.
Duran duran FOREVER ❤️
Teenage years in the 80's has been amazing. I was lucky to live them.
I love seventh stranger live
God I wish it was still 80s these guys made people so happy
Just simply love it 😍! Can not wait for the new album to come!!! Love ❤️ You Duran Duran!!!
Super! Duran Duran lyrics were simply amazing.

My fav track from SATRT.
This song is absolutely a masterpiece.
This entire album (7atRT) should be considered a HALLMARK ALBUM.
It was a fucking MASTERPIECE!!!
Shed a tear-Andy is still the greatest guitarist-my thoughts are with him and his family atm. x 🌹x
I love this song! At close to 54, I still listen to them. Such a sad song

Simons voice is still magical and can still make me cry, just like this song does!
My favorite Rockers since 1980!

Still is my favorite band of all time
I loved Duran Duran as a teen in the 80s and I still love them as “not a teen” today. I have seen them in concert twice and hope that once the borders reopen they will be able to tour again. I am still kicking myself for not making it out to Las Vegas a couple of years ago when they were doing all those shows.
Beautiful song, lyrics and performance 💖💎💖
Fantastic live version of this masterpiece
Nothing is but excellent by them..!!🥳🥰👍🎶
