I lived in Australia for one year.. I literaly ate tacos 6 days per week 😂 Really miss this country. Beautiful gold coast! Such a great bike I will build my own cx500 cafe racer in the next weeks. Greetings from Berlin, Germany! :)
The CX engines always sound so nice... and how goods the view when you look down and see the cyl’s are poking their heads out from under the tank! I had a nightmare trying to fix the wiring on my old CX too, the wiring diagrams varied from models and years... from memory my biggest issue was the H P * switch and wires on the right controls... I ran a new slinky clutch cable through the bars, then between the radiator and underside of the tank to the engine and it was really smooth... seeing your vids makes me want to work on another CX... such awesome bikes once’s they’re running nicely
Yes they are fun bikes and sound awesome, you should definitely get another one to work on. what is the clutch cable you are referring to, If you are on my Instagram or FB page can you drop me a link in a message to the one you used :)
Great to hear a CX engine again...so nice! I commuted daily on CX500 Standards for many years - tens of thousands of miles! - in the SF Bay Area (US); I would beat them then rebuild as required. After parts dried up I'd buy donor bikes. The engines are quite easy to work on and except for a run of soft cams, never had a problem with reliability ... as I recollect, the redline was a bit above 10,000 and mine often lived close to that! Now retired ( and on a bit bigger shafty - '04 BMW R1150RT-P), you've got me thinking that might be a fun project...and I still have the factory engine tools...somewhere! Very cool!!
Yep!! I watched all your videos of this build, its easy to understand and you are going straight to point without too much chitchat which i like and most ytubers dont do. I am planning to build myself (on budget) Honda nx250 scrambler and i havent even ride motorcycle before. So the videos which you have uploaded are going thru most of the steps so big thanks sir!! Your cycle is really nice. Good luck and i'm waiting for more videos.
Thank you mate, Sometimes i need to explain what im doing but I try to keep It short as you have noticed. Nobody needs a life story when they watch each video so I get to the good stuff asap. Im always improving and learning so thank you for your support :)
Hi Dan, that sounds and looks good. Lucky you that you are allowed to ride. We are having the best weather here in Wales but we are all locked indoors. Enjoy it !! Gus
YEP! I'm as causation as a man can be. and I could live on Mexican food forever. I go through a gallon of Jalapenos a month. Breakfast/lunch/supper and snack. Great build and videos!
The scrambler turned out awesome. Amazing you got the bike looking and running so good with the given budget. I know you have another CX500 project and I would love to see you go all out on that one. Motogadget M-Unit, new controls, CNC parts, maybe monoshock, USD front conversion...
Glad your happy with the result of the build 👍 Thanks for taking us a long with you. M8 to strip a bike apart modify it put it back together & have a couple wires wrong, you've done well 🤜🤛 Take care : )
I never really thought about it like that, I'm thinking about doing a video by request on my tips for building a motorcycle soon. Thank you once again for dropping a comment :)
Thanks for taking a ride around the beach! It is cool around there! I was there with my Ant back in 1978, what Fun we had! Your bike sounds great . and its great you got it out for a shake down ride. I realy like that bike! Have fun ,and Ride on Mate!
I am so hungry for a taco right now after all the comments. The bike is looking and sounding great. The cx500 is so easy to get wrong but you nailed it mate, well done. 👍
hey mate, ive never been into bikes but i recently saw a cafe racer style bike and it was love at first site for me, legit just found your channel and for someone who knows nothing about these bikes its awesome to see all your videos showing your process, im also a goldie local ;) hopefully ill get a bike in the next few months and ill see you out there
That's awesome dude, you will be surprised how many goldie boys there are following my journey, I met one in person the other day and he said, Hey you're that TH-cam guy, I'm like arrrrr ok yeah I guess so lol I gave him some help on his bike and went about my day, Its always nice to meet the guys that follow me as I have no clue who you guys are until say hi :) What bike are you thinking of doing? 2 years ago I wasn't really into bikes either but that changed after I saw The Walking Dead CB750 and thought to myself I want to build one of them. Have you seen the timelapse video of that build th-cam.com/video/7ZfKZwsLOuE/w-d-xo.html
Yes generally my videos are done a week or 2 before, it takes time to shoot and edit them. 1 video can take up to 8 hours of editing so i do it in stages over a few days. I'm not sure many people realise that lol :) Yes the streets and beaches are very quiet atm unlike when this was shot. Thank you for your YEP 👍
Thank you mate, Yes this was shot last week and I was riding it every min I can but now I'm not allowed to go out due to Covid -19 so I'm back to just looking at it lol
Love it. I have one request. I would like to see someone convert a twin rear shock set up to a monoshock. Why? Better ride and can add saddle bags and they sit flusher to the bike. I don’t mind about breaking cafe aesthetic rules, my W650 is somewhat a cross between flat tracker and cafe, but the rear shocks are terrible stock, and handling is never good. I ripped out the airbox so there is plenty of space for any monoshock fixing point. But I am gun shy to do it until I see someone with more experience have a go. Great build again.
Congratulations! ...again! I just LOVE it! How does it ride off-road? Cant wait to see your next project, now that youre done with 'my" dream bike... Greetings from Croatia!
Finally got caught up with the series! Great to see this bike pretty much finished. What you've achieved for $1200 (and a serious amount of graft) is outstanding. The attention to detail and taking that extra time and care really does make the difference. That exhaust sound is absolutely perfect, finding that little DB killer was a stroke of luck. What were the highs and the lows of the build? What made you start and continue with this build over the cb750? I'm considering getting a SOHC model myself.

YEP, I also had a problem with the stock clutch cable and tried rerouting it and it kept acting "tight", so I learned how to shorten it and solder on a new self made barrel end, worked great after that. BTW, the CX sounds great.
Hey brother, following your build for awhile now. found it super helpful since I’m doing something really similar to my Cx. Was wondering what size rear shocks you used and if you would do anything different?
Hello! like to know if you could guide to purchase an Estwood air belt sander as like everybody in the country being at home I get to do all the fixing around the house, and almost finish so next two weeks I be starting on my Kawasaki Z 1000 ST; PS went on Eastwood web and rang some distributors here in NSW but they don't stock this tools anymore so please let me know thank you for your time Robert
