How exciting for you and your family! You are truly blessed my friend. I'm really excited to see the final results of your smart home project. I also enjoy hearing that you're teaming up to give Reliable and honest content on home theater/ stereo setups. Keep up the good work Gene! 🤗
Really nice video GENE . I like that you going with different Brands . That house is going to be amazing . Said hello to my Friend Don( Box commander) 🔊🔊🔊. I really love that you guys are going together as a TEAM to help us and many audio enthusiasts to build their Dreams theater or home Audio. I hope to see you guys soon . AUDIOHOLICS really Rock.
Guess we might get to see a home run room or closet sometime in the future? Just a single bundle coming down is all the Cat wire? I do like the use of the tubing to future proof it. Helped crew out on home wiring when I worked at the store. Phones, cable, sat and through house audio. We always had home run closets or rooms depending on the house size. Largest house I worked on was 15,750 sq ft. That isn’t the biggest house I have seen, but it was also wired for burg, fire, and cameras. Had four service distribution panels and a dedicated home run room for all low voltage work. It took lots of time by myself.
Gene- this is a deeply overlooked subject for audioholics (small a)- EVEN in dedicated home theater rooms , aesthetics DO count. I know you are using this project to showcase a number of manufacturers , but would be useful to compare contrast different in wall products and what they bring to table at certain price points. One of the key take always from this video was the recommendation for a soundbar in in master bedroom. When you consider you need to resolve your processor and amp and wiring issues as well as the L-R-C with one clean package, its clearly where things are going . I think you are going to be surprised how MUCH time you spend watching movies, TV etc in your bedroom with a quality soundbar, especially as you will be Able to set up your atmos speakers effortlessly pre drywall. The real deficiency I have encountered to date is of course the bass for movies. Good to hear JL has a solution now that impresses Mr Dunn but JL (and I have a JL box sub and its great) has never been a value proposition company. Moving forward would be greta to see you guys testing in wall speakers a, and especially in wall subs, to report back to readers. Eagerly anticipating next video that gets into wiring techniques≥..
Many many good companies getting into this space - Golden Ear,KEF, Martin LOgan, etc - its getting as overwhelming as stand alones ! (And impossibly o audition ! A KEY difvenetriatoir is the sub though-thats the challenge - JL audio options are game changer BUT at insane price....
I would love to hear more about the architect speakers especially the in ceiling subs. I have some speakercraft in wall/ ceiling speakers (atmos) in my home theater as well as some in ceiling in my living room (wife approved) and have to say I’m impressed. I love what you’re doing with you new home and can’t wait for more videos about the build!
I would love to see how you approach setting up the atmos speakers... Say in the living room.. And combine with in ceilings in the dining room and/or kitchen for entertainment purposes... But be able to switch the dining/kitchen off and use the living room speakers for atmos during movie watching. I have no experience with zones.
I would love to hear you talk about A/V distribution using fiber, and tips and advice for A/V installs in pre-existing homes, as well as options for enterprise level wifi and internet to pull it all together.
I was just wondering today how the planning was going for the new smart home, so thanks for the update! I’m hoping you cover where all you pull Cat6 cable to any why, where you’re putting all the whole home audio cables and why. I’m also really interested to see which control system you go with. Control 4? I’m anxious to see all the capabilities of the automation and how you set it up. On another note, is this house going to have a dedicated theater? Double 5/8 drywall with green glue? It’d be cool to see the build out of a theater. I’m looking forward to the video of you guys pulling all the wiring and getting an in depth look into the why, how, and where.
I would really like to know if you are going to put transducers A.k.a. bass shakers in your home theatre if you are could you make a video I would like to know how you like them while I love them and I think you will too
I'm interested in outdoor speakers. I want to see how wiring works. am I looking at a separate reciver for outside? Or will a Bluetooth to an outdoor speaker?
Hi Gene, How is this coming along ? I realize that many of us, including folks in the States, have a lot more on their plates than AV installations but I'm excited to see your project progress. Thanks, Artie
I’m glad you’re talking about inceiling speakers. Can you do a piece on setting crossovers for ceiling. I’m finding I have to have mine above 80 to sound good. I only have ceiling with 7.1 except sub is on floor.
also i see a lot of integrators offering not the best for the customer bit the beat for they're profit because some of this brands offer a really high profit margin for the integrator. i would like to hear youre take on that
I just received an update on my denon avr-x4500h I was wondering if you knew what is in the update? I went to Denon but it has nothing on any updates for the unit.
Yes their top shelf HDMI cables, Belden 1694A and 1800F interconnects, 12AWG for distribution speakers and high strand count Belden1313A 10AWG for the theater room speakers.
Gene, where in Canada can I get Bluejeans cables? Love the scientific approach you have to high end audio. Glad you came out of the Covid situation strong and healthy, man. All the best from Newfoundland, Canada
I'd like to hear more about the home automation apps like connect 4 or whatever it is.I bought the Sony STR ZA5000ES and I could not be happier with it. I'm running basically every PlayStation console, a smart TV and a 5.4.4 configuration. Still waiting for the right SACD player to integrate but the fantastic FOUR sounds like something I want. That and more box commandeer info 😉
AS far as I can tell the biggest in wall sub you can obtain is 10inch. And not that many companies offer full line of in wall solutions-sonance,rbh,triad,focal , recently Martin Logan, KEF and Golden Ear (sort of-they dont have an in wall sub)
Well if you're putting them in the bathroom anywhere that creates steam I don't know if that was just for show the klipsch the in wall speaker is not waterproof and it need it to be waterproof as well in wet environment, just make sure it's suitable!. You might want to look at the tannoy in wall speaker subwoofer lW62TS, a dual 6.5" can be wired as mono or stereo 94 dB efficient, 400 watts programmable 800 watts peak, bass form 29 Hz to 110 Hz passive mode 117 dB SPL peak 123dB spl, can be configured for Active or Passive mode Maximum wall thickness 25mm, cut-out 426.1 x 187.6 mm, in wall mounting volume 30 litres 1.1 cu ft, mountain depth 95.50 mm 10-year warranty. these contractors usually have deals with certain manufacturers he probably does with klipsch speakers lol You might want to put some dampening material down on the joists next to the subwoofers don't just hard fix it? to minimise Vibrations sound transfer use putty as well to seal areas between joists any open gapps. A acoustic probe might be useful if you use this he should do? to measure your distortion peaks and to tune the space. If I was you put in natural Lambs wool, can be sprayed in or you can buy in acoustic sheets best acoustic material, best for insulation for heat and cold, and fire retardant, expensive tho otherwise use rockwool
I wired my house with RG-11 why cause I can haha . Ya no benefit to me none of my runs are over 100 feet . I just like the overkill and went with uiw rcs definitive the output is great and they have bass radiators to give low end . House is going to awesome Gene keep up the videos with the house I love this stuff being a installer . 👍🏻
"I like big speakers.... And I cannot lie."
I like this guy

Goodness, how very exciting. I am reminded of the lyrics to an old song. "See Mr Green, he's so serene, he's got a TV in every room! Haha
I got Focal all around in my HT. Very high quality sound.
Ditto, they make an amazing product.

Not really a fan of bass shakers. We will have twelve 12" subwoofers in this theater room. Bass shakers not needed.
I'm interested in outdoor speakers. I want to see how wiring works. am I looking at a separate reciver for outside? Or will a Bluetooth to an outdoor speaker?

I recommend calling BJC to see if they ship to Canada: www.bluejeanscable.com
I bought speaker cables from them and they ship to Canada

That and more box commandeer info 😉
Great underated receiver. We use these all the time.
ZF in the house!
Which acoustic panels were those next to the TV? How
do I get those? Thanks!
I guess the better question might be what do I not want to see in setting up this smart home.
Why not cat8? Is it not "2 better"???
AS far as I can tell the biggest in wall sub you can obtain is 10inch. And not that many companies offer full line of in wall solutions-sonance,rbh,triad,focal , recently Martin Logan, KEF and Golden Ear (sort of-they dont have an in wall sub)
JL makes 13" and we have two going into the family room.
C SEED 125 for outdoor speakers

Did this guy just say that he's building an audio system to last 100-200 years? Um.. what?
