- A scheme which allows road users to submit video footage of illegal driving in Devon and Cornwall has recorded its highest level of submissions ever.
Devon & Cornwall Police received 747 videos from the public through Op Snap in August, 418 (56%) of which were the subject of action by police, including:
- 246 Notices of Intended Prosecution (NOIP)
- 172 warnings or words of advice
A third of August’s Op Snap submissions (244) were from cyclists, with 147 (60%) of these being subject of action from police.
Vision Zero South West, the road safety partnership covering Devon & Cornwall, has released a selection of video clips to highlight the variety of offences which can be dealt with via Op Snap.
Footage can be submitted from numerous sources, whether it’s a dashcam, helmet camera, mobile phone or even a video doorbell.
The video features several dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, near misses, a driver jumping a red light and one motorist swerving across two lanes on the A38 near Plymouth - an offence which was captured on an iPad by a rear seat passenger.

I think some of the penalties are too lenient in these transgressions. Particularly the van violating the red traffic light!
Yeah, much too lenient. And then we wonder why they keep doing this sort of thing.
That’s cute. You think fines and penalties are about road safety (as opposed to revenue).
@@KeepItSimpleSailor ....and you'd feel cute if you got hit by one of these fools?! Yeah, of course you would?! DUH!!
Going to have to frighten them with penalties 10 times more severe than this lot to get this deadly driving to stop.
Get out in Newquay and see the amount of people who sit in traffic on their phones. Oblivious to everything going on around them.
I see that everywhere in my job .
Blasting thru a red light on purpose only gives you a fkn course ? What a crock, the rest were good and fair i think but that one was patethic.
Operation Snap needs to be made permanent for the public to use.
I thought it was permanent?
You can always report a crime online and provide evidence.
Just ban them.
people like this are cowards cause they would never cut anyone off if you were standing in a line at a store or movie cause they would most likely get they ass kicked and when they cause a crash or kill somebody and cry their eyes out they blame everyone else a
I have said exactly the same, they think it's ok because they are in their car . Same when they delib6gk down the wrong lane to cut a queue, as if their time is way more important than yours and anyone else who is queuing. W@nkers
Most of these just to get one car or two in front.
It amazes me when people race down the road and get behind another vehicle then have to slam the brakes on.
It's time the fine for using a mobile phone was raised to £5,000.
You should do some checking on the Helston to Lizard village road.
Red light. Driver training course. Zero penalty.
Training courses aren't cheap.
Hi Vision Zero South West Hi, could I use some of your clips on my channel, linked and credited of course?
Great to see selfish, careless and dangerous drivers being held to account and hopefully learning from the outcome. Operation Snap is fantastic.
"Vision zero south West" ? What sort of nonsesnse title is that ?
Why fuzz out the registration plates? Name and shame!
How do they know what the penalties are though? You are not told and have no idea at the time of giving evidence that any will be charged or found guilty or when any of it will ever happen etc, or are you & or can find out, if so how?
The police told them.
Many of these clips show the appalling behavior of reckless drivers 😮
Would you up load my footage of the lies and a manslaughter you swept under the carpet when I was attacked by one of Plymouths most prolific road ragers.
It's the wagons that should know better more than anything. I don't drive them but know and work with good lad that do and I've been with them.. stuck in alsorts of traffic..dramas..and I'm happy to say this... I work with good lads and wagon drivers and Hes says its better for us (meaning him and us lot/crew to get back home after our shift to see out families rather than them to see us in a hospital bed
1:20 you can’t hide the Sainsburys van.
Don't blur their identity out FFS ⚠️
Just a few examples of how many bad drivers there are on the UK's roads. Punishments need to be MUCH harsher, to get the message across to idiots like these that they are bound by the laws and they don't own the roads.
Some of the penalties are pathetic especially when some could have been fatal accidents.
As a driver on Devon roads every day i can confirm the standards of driving is shocking,. Partly poor driving mostly pure ignorance.
The offences are "reckless, dangerous or careless driving." Most of those shown here are reckless or dangerous, but for some reason -- probably easier to obtain a conviction -- Devon and Cornwall Police seem always to summons the drivers for the lesser offence of careless driving. Most here deserved much higher penalties than they got.
Obviously highway code readers...
That's what i call gap&go driver thay see the gap for it to these drivers don't understand the risk they have probably done this so many times it's normal for them.
Too many cnuts on Britain's roads!!!
Want To Bring Driving Bans 2 Weeks To a Month
If there was actually a police presence on the roads in Devon and Cornhole (yeah I said that right) rather than camera vans, maybe people wouldn't drive like complete dicks
I’m not being awful but some people really shouldn’t be driving.
Why can't the police use our dashcam footage to prosecute these tossers?
??
That's what these are
@@imeach2897 really? I asked GMP if they wanted some footage of a tosspot who almost killed me on my motorbike & they refused to see it. The local cop told me they don't have enough officers to sit watching videos all day. Honestly 👍🏻
Snitches…….😂
