Magnus Carlsen's knight is the MVP

- Featured is the round 8 Armageddon game between Magnus Carlsen and Praggnanandhaa R from Norway Chess 2024. The primary focus is the endgame phase, where Carlsen has a strong knight against Praggnanandhaa's bishop. After Carlsen creates an outside passed pawn, Praggnanandhaa's king is tasked with stopping it. In the process, Carlsen wins a pawn, but the position remains level. Praggnanandhaa's final intuitive idea to curl up into a ball in the corner with his king, defending his base point f7, is faulty. Carlsen's conversion is especially smooth and aesthetic.

I like how you kept only the knight route on the board in the thumbnail.
Very eye catching. Good job Jerry 👍🏻
It’s a great thumbnail.
Thanks. I kind of stumbled upon the idea during the edit of the thumb. It caught my eye.
Carlsen seems to know endgame better than anybody for so many years. It is crazy nobody has caught up to him yet
Agreed. Better than anybody in the last 10,000 years or so. 😃
I, for one, took a thing or two away
Good to know! 👍😎
I've listened to a number of chess commentators, but Jerry has The Voice.
That initial beep also affects me like Palov!
I've been watching your videos for over a decade and ive never heard you use the term "boomerang" for that tactic. I think every chess player has their own name for it haha. Axel Smith calls it a lifeline tactic. I call it a "rope-a-dope."
I've always called it a boomerang, but it's the first time I've heard someone else call it this.
Rope-a-dope lmao
video title is 100%. that knight is the main character
A wonderful tour by the night. Thanks Jerry.
Thank you for watching 👍
Amazing video like always! You’ve helped improve my understanding of chess thank you!
Hey CN, can you please put the pgn in the description again like you used to? Ty, longtime fan of your channel
👍
Great video as always Jerry. I do have a question though -
In your tale of the tape how are you getting an "accuracy %" in what looks to be the lichess SF analysis?
After a game, just click Analysis Board > Computer analysis > Request a computer analysis
@nugnug501 That doesn't give an accuracy %. It gives everything else - inaccuracies, mistakes, blunders, and ACPL.
@@88mphDrBrown It does give accuracy %. Looks exactly like it does in Jerry’s screenshot. Not sure what to tell ya.
excellent analysis again, appreciate your sharing
i love grinding out good knight vs bad bishop endings, always worth it!
Great commentary! What a game. Thanks for sharing.
👍😎
I had a configuration exactly similar to the “boomerang” in this game come up a year or two ago, Jerry: The Queens were attacking each other with only my Knight interposing. I could have taken White’s KNP with my Knight, which would then still be in position to recover the material in case of QxQ. I missed it! And of course, saw it only moments after making my move.
Maybe you should offer a chess neologism “boomerang” to the vocabulary, Jerry.
This reminded me of your Fischer - Saidy game analysis!
That's Carlsens favourite Fischer game
Funny how his knight was so valuable despite him not knowing how it moves.
Nice one 😎
I've been following you for years but kind of fell off. This analysis was stellar. Please post more!
Insane game for an armageddon damn
I love you Jerry, but his name is pronounced Pragg (prog) not Prag
prounounced like “Prague” ?
get in here Everyone a new upload from Jerry just dropped it's time to take a thing or two away let's goooo!!
Dear Sir...I love ur videos...they r really very very instructive...as sicilian grandprix player as white with 5. Bc4...could you come up with an instructive video from a top level player...thank u in advance
I learn so much from every game you annotate. Your voice is perfect.
Good to hear 😎
What a beauty. I always like to take a thing or two away. Thank you! ;)
Thanks Carlos 😎
Such a cool game. Thanks, Jerry.
Yes I have a take.
My take is, never play Magnus Carlsen.
Thx Jerry
Thanks for watching 👍
@@ChessNetwork always. You are by far my fav chess TH-camr.
Love you guys. Keep up the good work.
Carlsen makes it look so easy !
The great ones have a knack for that! 😎
Knight is better than Bishop 🐴
Good-knight!
Amazing. Great video.
Could you maybe comment the game between Carlsen and Keymer.
Thanks Jerry. Twitch subscriber wondering if you have any suggestions for good chessable ending courses for 1500 USCF? Thanks.
Hi Steve. I’m not familiar enough with chessable to recommend any courses. Viewing slower chess content on TH-cam with rapid time controls can be very beneficial.
@@ChessNetwork yes I watch all of your videos, particularly those. And when you stream on twitch and are playing 10/0 I find those instructive also. I'm too slow to follow the faster time controls, but I know they're popular. Thanks, Jerry.
Thanks for the game and analysis though already watched on Agadmators channel (Pragananda not defending rook reminded)❤.
Jerry is a great teacher!
Thanks!
Thank you bikedoc for the $2.00. 😎
Super Thanks! 👍
★★★★★★
6/6 thanks 💪
Day 9 of asking Jerry to cover the Sack of Rome games by Sofia Polgar
thx Jerry 😊
Hey Jerry, go browns.
Why not 26 Nxe6? What’s the response?
why don't you tell us? engines are free
Doesn't work in this position because the knight on d5 defends the queen. Nxe6 fxe6 Qxb6 Nxb6. Black is just up a piece.
@@gaysfortrump2024why not be a decent person instead of a jerk?
@@looinrims He's trolling, by taking it seriously you gave him what he wanted.
Just look at his name lol
What is MVP?
I would guess... Most Valuable Piece
Can we stop calling Praggnanadhaa "Prag"? It reminds me of Oz.
Beecher 😂😂😂😂
😂
no
And why do they only write D for Gukesh's last name?
He plays wonderful praggmatic chess.
take with the quee
Thanks!
Thank you for the $5.00 nickcellino 😎. Super Thanks!
