The new #BMWM X6M and X5M Facelifts are here - and a significant update in the LCI (life cycle impulse) for the #BMW performance SUV duo. They arrive at an interesting time, when the new BMW XM is making the wrong kind of waves, this duo brings a more traditional format of pure combustion in a lighter set up.
Well, almost pure, because now every X6 and X5 now comes with a 48 volt
Mild Hybrid system, including our M Models for the first time, thus these are the first M Models to feature mild hybrid tech!
Big changes in the new V8 engine update, still the 4.4 litre bit with a cross-bank exhaust manifold for better thermal management, a reinforced crankshaft drive and updated turbocharging! (Just like in the XM!) This gives a big kick of power, up to 625HP now, with 750NM and an impressive 0-60 in 3.9 seconds.
The hybrid change connects to this in the form of an electrified eight-speed automatic gearbox, which has a mild hybrid system built within it to give a small HP boost alongside 200NM immediately. The gearbox also comes with hydraulic transmission mounts giving a stiffer connection between the drive train and body. BMW has also developed a ‘near-actuator wheel slip limitation’ system that works in conjunction with the AWD set-up, rear diff, stability control - it now works 10 times faster than conventional traction control.
A big change needed comes to steering, where there’s also speed-sensitive electric power steering, with a revised steering gear on both models. We also get Adaptive M suspension Professional with updated electronically controlled dampers and active roll stabilisation. Dampers now act faster, to allow better comfort and sporty response respectively. Toe in values on the rear have been adjusted for high speeds They have also worked on rigidity around the whole car, with further bracing, bridges and arms to help dynamics.
Big news also for the BMW X6 M60i, which now uses the same V8 BMW M engine S68, replacing the outgoing N63 engine, it’s a proper M engine in a standard BMW! And the M60i also looks fantastic.
But perhaps not as fantastic as the new X5M and X6M - with all new front end aggression. We have New lights, which may mimic new 5 series. They are slimmer than the older ones - and complement the massive grille change. Grille looks amazing in gloss and matte black, and linking to the lower bumper. We have Staggered wheels as before, and the X6M gets spoiler lip and rear spoiler too. Big changes inside with BMW Operating System 8 pro, a huge curved LED screen replacing the old tech - I’ll show you every detail too along with a boost space comparison between X5 and X6!

@@Evan_Performance my dealership had their first allocation waiting for me. My salesman said 6 weeks it would arrive and he was spot on. I absolutely love it!! I had it ceramic coated yesterday and it’s even more stunning!

BMW will always be about a personal performance car for the driver. I’ve driven both x5 and x6. My personal experience is that the X5 is more roomy. The x6 is more sporty. Like the reviewer mentioned it has better aerodynamics. As a a happy car guy such as myself who isn’t married as of yet. Driving the X6 was one of the test drive I’ve driven! No lag as mentioned and 0-60 under four seconds on the interstates speed ramp! ❤ The new technologies inside the vehicles are amazing with the hand motion sensors. Assisted full 360 view for self parking. I think financing six figures into this the next 36-60 months is definitely worth it. Once I get my house with a garage. Imma get a X6 M Comp!
Would go for X5 M40i or M50i as comfort is key with an SUV not lap times on a race circuit these two engines have enough poke to overtake on the motorway and that is what is needed . Great review ❤thanks
as an X5 M50i owner, this is true. 500+ Horses and a smooth ride in an SUV. If its one car that can do it all, it is this one.

They got different type of grey available but grey always looks sad, white is the best color choice if you take the M sport package

I ordered the X5 M Competition I switched from Audi to BMW and don’t regret it one bit. X6 has less space so it’s a no go for me we’re 5 on the X5 😂

@@swft_The X5 is my favorite car but it is true that it looks even better in real life, especially the back. The X6 is the best looking coupe SUV with the Cayenne but none is at the level of the X5 especially the facelift which is a true peace of art

My pick X6M. I drove an X6 for seven years, and the M features would be a nice addition. I am NOT looking for a family SUV/cargo carrier. I did 10,000 km trips in the X6, and always had ample storage space, including for cross-border shopping, and resupplying my (Canadian) home on the return journey. The X6 is the ultimate highway driving car in my experience. I've never driven anything better on long highway journeys. I currently drive an X4M40i, and it serves well as a convenience and economy version of the X6 (and the 10,000 km circuits are about half the cost, with no substantial sacrifice of horsepower).

the redesign of the SUV bmw's are 10x better than the saloon imo. They look so much more aggresive now which i love.

The front grill design shouldve been what they did to the M3.. by keeping the kidney grills but adding that black to give it a mor eimposing look.

Steering wheel pretty much looks the same from 10+ years ago! The only thing that puts me off getting the X6! Will go for the GLE coupe facelift instead!

I have the 2021 X5M Competition. I'm really not a fan of this upgraded face lift. Sucks because my lease ends next year and I was looking forward to upgrading

Raz….I hate the flat paint look but I think both cars are challenging and the X5 is just that bit more useful….it is the side profile of the X6 that does not work for me but the X5 is no beauty either. Both will be better when half price!!😀😀😀😀

The x6 is nice but I just don’t like the side profile that’s why I prefer the Gle 63s

@@johnguidetti5839 Take a look at all the car designs nowadays, they are all looking so similar between brands. It's all about increasing profits for the companies, if they can save money on research and development why not. They know people like that particular design and those models sell well so just keep the same design structure. You can't tell me the X6 and GLE don't look 90% similar with just a slightly modified rear lights and front end. The proportions are practically the same. We are seeing the consolidation and globalization of the brands. For instance toyota and bmw with the supra and the z4. The engines are the same, interiors the same, chasis and body the same. They are two competitors but still sharing parts and components.
@@johnkleven9416 The X6 & GLE & Q8 for that matter don't share parts or platforms with each other. Since your so aware of partnerships in the industry you should know this...

Rat, do they have run-flat tyres? Can you please mention this each time you refer to the tyres, thanks. The loss of the buttons for temp control ??? why on earth do manufacturers keep doing this when most reviewers say it’s not as convenient as buttons. This is a big negative for me.
