    🇬🇧 Hi everyone! As you can probably guess, Jagodina was an overly-dramatic metaphor for me coming to the end of 6 years of filming travel videos. Honestly, I can't be bothered anymore LOL and each one is an absolute chore to do because travel no longer interests me in the slightest. Hopefully the last couple from Serbia and my final videos from elsewhere will be a bit more 'top tier'! Regarding the bus, I used the bus timetables online, with the bus company's Facebook page, directly at the bus terminal, and spoke to someone who had got that exact bus. However, no bus. The taxi drivers I spoke to wouldn't take me not only because 'it was Sunday' but also because it was 7am. I assume they were still drunk, which wouldn't exactly be a surprise.
    🇷🇸 Zdravo svima! Kao što verovatno možete da pretpostavite, Jagodina je bila preterano dramatična metafora za mene na kraju 6 godina snimanja putopisnih spotova. Iskreno, ne mogu više da se mučim LOL i svaki od njih je apsolutni zadatak jer me putovanja više ne zanimaju ni najmanje. Nadam se da će poslednji par iz Srbije i moji poslednji video snimci sa drugih mesta biti malo više 'top-tier'! Što se tiče autobusa, koristio sam red vožnje na mreži, sa Facebook stranicom autobuske kompanije, direktno na autobuskom kolodvoru, i razgovarao sa nekim ko je imao tačan autobus. Međutim, nema autobusa. Taksisti sa kojima sam razgovarao nisu me odvezli ne samo zato što je „bila nedelja“ već i zato što je bilo 7 ujutro. Pretpostavljam da su još bili pijani, što baš i ne bi bilo iznenađenje.
    🇬🇧

    Another nice video. I was in Jagodina a few months ago. Now I see it form another perspective. I actually really liked the town, myself. For a small town in Sumadija or Pomoravlje as the region is called it packs a punch. They have small zoo and Potok with waterfalls and wedding reception. The aqua park is great in summer. That museum for naive and marginal art is works by artists with an intellectual disability. I think it's worth spending up to an hour there. There is a heritage museum, where you can get information about the history of the town. Wax museum I didn't get to visit but, I heard it's good. Jagodina used to be called Svetozarevo (after Svetozar Markovic), but they reverted to the old name after the fall of communism. I'm surprised you didn't give nearby towns of Cuprija and Paracin bit of a go, but then again like you said you are sick of travelling. If you didn't enjoy Jagodina you won't enjoy Loznica (my home town) either. Loznica as a town is nothing special, but everything around it is beautiful. Tourist information centres are always good for recommendations. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

    • @davidostrowski679
      @davidostrowski679  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for letting me know about Loznica. It was a potential video location but honestly I can't face any more buses and I'm always sick for 2 days after getting off them lol. Plus from Užice I'd have to go to Valjevo first then another bus and it would just take so long. I've looked into renting a car a few times but the nearest is in Zlatibor and even then they don't respond to reservation enquiries!

      @@davidostrowski679 again in the city that is not a tourist destination, to whom are you promoting those cities? You are repeating yourself over and over, food in Serbia, did government forgot about this city 😅 move on go somewhere else, show us little bit about your motherland Poland , we want to see some cities in Poland

    • @davidostrowski679
      @davidostrowski679  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tanja why do you think I am 'promoting' these cities? I don't work for the Serbia tourism board. Why do you think my videos are about tourism? LOL. The whole point is to go to lesser-known destinations away from boring tourist locations and aqua parks. And I've never had that chicken in a Serbia video for your information. As I clearly said in this video there was nothing in Jagodina I haven't covered before, hence I moved on. The TH-cam algorithm dictates you must film similar content - if I filmed videos in Poland you wouldn't even get a notification. This is one my final videos after 6 years, there won't be any from Poland. You can go there yourself!

    • @tanjagak2097

      @@davidostrowski679 I understand your point of making the videos in less touristy areas,isn’t whole point of you video to have a lot of viewers and likes, it would be for me, if not then you should go to those places enjoy and don’t record because what is point I don’t know anyone that will watch videos about cities where people just live there but not much to see or do , hope you got my point. Maybe for you it is interesting but why should be for other people? I said about Poland because you mentioned you are getting citizenship of Poland so you could record some unknown cities in Poland like you did in Serbia. It will be more interesting for you since your ancestors are from Poland

  • @SerbAtheist

    Pomoravlje is a region I really feel gets the short shrift when it comes to tourism. Belgrade needs no introduction, Western Serbia has become a powerhouse, Šumadija is the heartland of Serbia, Vojvodina and the Sandžak region have got their cultural distinctiveness, so do the south-east parts of Serbia and even eastern Serbia has got a good thing going with Viminacium, Lepenski Vir, the Đerdap gorge and Golubac fortress.
    Pomoravlje on the other hand represents in my mind the most generic middle-of-the-road region of Serbia.
    Alas, the lackluster tourism situation is not even for a lack of trying. Dragan Marković Palma has done all sorts of things, including the Aqua park, to put Jagodina on the map. Svilajnac has built an entire dinosaur park. I believe the story is that the mayor visited western Europe and was so impressed with child-friendly natural history museums he wanted something like that in his own town and applied for the necessary funds. Despotovac has a great knight festival each year, not to mention that Manasija and Ravanica, two absolutely indispendable jewels among Serbian monasteries, are in the area, as well as the Resava caves. But towns such as Smederevska Palanka, Velika Plana, Ćuprija, Paraćin and Petrovac na Mlavi I've literally never been to and know next to nothing about.
    As Serbia is still recovering economically and when it comes to tourism at this stage just focusing on investing in the most popular things to put itself on the global map, it will be quite a while before this region gets the attention it most certainly fully deserves.

    No need to apologise for your food choices.
    I actually love so much of the Serbian fast food (unlike so much of the international fare) however, when I am with friends there, they so often gravitate away from what I prefer to the international stuff!
    Although to be fair, while I have endured some of the worst pizza I have ever had in Serbia, I have also enjoyed some of the best!
    Although it is now 3 years since I was last there, and so much has changed with the Pound having dropped by almost a third against the Dinar, what struck me the most, was the quality, and how the flavours really stood out (in a good way) along the incredible value for money.

    You're right, unfortunately. Jagodina's glory days are over, but there are so many beautiful places around our city, like lakes, monasteries, ethno villages, mountains, but it's overshadowed by some ugly things like ⬇
    All of those (I mean not 100%, but still) empty factories, buildings, hotels, etc. were bought by Jagodina's "controversial businessman's" in the past 20+ years.
    Our town runs on a well-organized monopoly (if you're "theirs" you can start a business, or pay a hefty $ for doing business on "their" turf).
    Our town mayor has been running things his way also for almost 20 years (by manipulating, using people, blackmailing people, you name it; he's done it), and it's been a public secret ever since.
    We do have a "tourist" part of the city: zoo, aqua park, shopping malls, but that's a facade.

    Looks like a nice town. As with everywhere you show, I could imagine myself there and happy. So let me call you! You do know as youve said that there isn't a need for happy dance wherever we go. You gave a glimmer of how you feel treated in small towns in Serbia - but a contradictory one. It's okay. My imagining of Serbia can handle it. Your Airbnb looked nice enough. And worth about half a million in latest pounds. You might feel, as you've mentioned with how local people respond to your videos, that you need to put an imprimatur on things, when the imprimatur has already happened. My analysis is that if, in an alternative life, I should decided to move to Jagodina, the cafe would be lovely because life is lovely, and we'd discuss how to spread the wealth. Smiles are important, of course. I wonder how much Mexico or Serbia make people smile. Mostly it's our duty. Go Serbi-cats and -dogs!

    2:28 In 2012 they discovered a prehistoric settlement. Probably the people loved it there because of the strawberries? Jagodina (Yagodina), from jagoda meaning strawberry in Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian. In Czech and Slovak it is Jahoda. The other Slavic languages have a similar word that means berry. From Proto-Indo-European *hogeh (“small fruit, berry”). Cognate with Proto-Celtic *agrinyos for berry.

    I have to comment, being sorry in the same time. Jagodina has noting to do with Strawberry! Ja godina ( JA GO DI NA ) meaning Me Year! Not to blame this person showing you this I heard from others same. Za one koji neznaju Engleski, Jagodina nema nicega u jeziku onacavajuci Jagode vec na protiv Godinu.

      @@davidostrowski679 too much of history fake as well. I am only left as Titos Pioneer many told me. By the way I can leave my contact and gift you to read a book of History I started writing. It is so difficult popping out of the shell saying to my self ' ooo I am alive ' while there is no shell and others fast as rabbits, makes more then difficult. For example Machu Picchu represents Sward and Place of origin where built. Maybe you can do good channel rise people awake from where they are, called reality. I am scientists so there would be other channels and people involved. Let me know! Well done for people like you i have to say!

      I don't see how it can have anything to do with Year. Strawberry is more like it. The people settled in the strawberry fields because it provided food.

      I am curious now how it means "I year". So there is a mountain nearby called Juhor. What is the origin of that? It does remind me of the word year in German "Jahr".

    Unfortunately, it's just a another small town, which gets no investment, building nice and old, but neglected. Also I see parking on the pavement is just outrageous! All in all, it has a potential but needs a huge makeover and refurbishment regarding them old buildings.

      Totally. I guess it's not possible to fully invest in everywhere and as I said every country has places like this

      I think it has potential. Apparently Jagodina was an industrial town and only gained city status in 2007.

      What do you mean no investment? Only in past 10 years Jagodina was massivly improved. You should come and see it live. Not by TH-cam.
