Runrig was just a great band, their music was great, i was very fortunate to see them live twice, still listen to their music now but it was never the same when Donnie Munro left

Can't beat a bit of the old "Scot rock" from time to time. I know it was a bit of a bad term back in the day...but you just have to embrace what it is. Love the lyrics to this track.

A lifetime ago a good friend by the name of Graeme Ross offered me a job as a roadie with Runrig. In all good faith though, it was Aberdeen in the early 1980's and for better or for worse, I ended up in oil and gas. Funny how things come full circle sometimes.

Bruce sang the songs a full key higher Bruce had a more rock country style vocal Donnie has a old style scotch style vocal not rock 😂

Cannot find this version of the song anywhere.
They had mixed views on this version, I think it was the record label that pretty much forced them into recording it in this style. I actually love it!

Is it unfair to see Calum as the "Bez" of Runrig? OK Bez wasn't a songwriter (as far as I know), but I always thought Calum seemed a bit superfluous to the live performances. Here he is with his tambourine.
Totally unfair but I hear where you're coming from. Calum probably knew fine that Runrig would cope without his percussion but seeing as he wrote the songs along with Rory, he'd earned his place on the stage sharing the songs with the audience.
Totally unfair, I have to say. As a drummer I love the way that Calum frees up Iain by either holding down the rhythm or effectively acting as an extra pair of hands. He adds so much extra to the drive and rhythm, especially live.
Given that Calum and Rory write the songs, so many great songs in Gaelic and in English, Calum can do what he likes on stage. Personally, I love the rhythm, colour and energy of his percussion work.
