I'm 41 years old and listen to music since i can remember but discovered this song and this band literally 2 hrs ago. OMG, what i have missed all these years!!!

Truly the most beautiful amazing loving song in the world, my dad who has dimentia, reacts to this song 🏴 🏴 🏴 he loves it. He's been in a care home for 2 years now and when we play this too him he just changes and grabs our 👐 an emotional and he just let's me my brother and sister that he is still there

Interesting to read your comment, Craig. Just last week, I had a very similar experience with my mom (89) who also suffers from dementia. She was very driven and restless that day - when, in utter dispair, I started to play RUNRIG's "THE STORY" for my own sanity. Miraculously, mom almost instantly calmed down, reached for my hand, and appeared content and at peace. Amazing. 🎶 🏴 🙏
Runrig a classic Scottish band. And superb song writers also. There songs are just amazing. And I'm proud to be Scottish all 57 years of me.

I found Runrig in 1994 when my brother had a Scottish girlfriend and brought Wheels in Motion back from Scotland. I fell in love with the band and travelling all round Scotland and England untill they retired in 2017.

I can't begin to explain just how much I miss Runrig. Saw them in my late teens right through till I was nearly 50. What a journey. So many happy memories.
Miss Ru rig sooo much, got all the cd's & videos but its the live gigs am missing, altho theres a band called Beat the drum & they are doing a very good job & its great to get dancing again, seem them twice & eill be seeing them again on 4 rth December in Nottingham!

I was lucky enough to meet Donnie and his family and spend the day with them when he opened the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust visitor centre on the Isle of Mull in 2000, such a nice guy and I am only now discovering their music I am ashamed to admit!
This was the record we had for our first dance when we got married - a great song and we're still going strong almost 17 years on.... 'This is our life and our time and nothing is ever going to break us now we're on our own...'

Saw them in concert back in the nineties,in Portsmouth, just amazing .
Seen them a few times in Portsmouth too...just missed Loch Lomond where I'm from and Stirling Castke missed by a col wks bxs qe couldn't that fortnight off work. Still gutted nearly 20 yrs on 👍😅

No one can match Donnie Munro’s voice when he left it took the soul out of Runrig.
Donnie's voice > 1000x Bruce's, but personally I'm pleased they carried on - made quite a few more good songs.
Different band when Donnie left, never quite resonated for me. Mind you Donnie never was never the same without Callum and Rory either.

Does anyone know what is the story behind these lyrics does it have something to with the ruins of the background? I am wondering because it is an interesting video and the lyrics are dramatic. So it is not just me then! Thank goodness! And can we stop him moving like a Wanker? The Suits? He came across like a seedy Bar 'Frank Sinatra. Cost the band lots of fans. I know, because I took someone to see them and the response was ' Amazing musicians, but what is with the bloke up front? Nice voice, but FFS sake what a Flashy Wanker!' Don't ask me to see them again' It was only when Bruce turned up that I got that person back on board

Donnie Monroe is brilliant, but his dancing detracts from his lyrics... There’s just something not right about it. He’d be be better just standing still and singing! And that goes for Protect and Survive and his other brilliant songs. Best heard but not seen. You don’t want your favorite voice to look like a twat!
