Lyrics:
Across the street the river runs
Down in the gutter life is slipping away
Let me still exist in another place
Running under cover of a helicopter blade
The flames are getting higher in effigy
Burning down the bridges of my memory
Love may still be alive somewhere someway
Where they're downing only deer
A hundred steel towns away
Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
With the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
No never will I roam for I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailing
Photographs and kerosene light up my darkness
Light it up, light it up
I can still feel the touch of your thin blue jeans
Running down the alley I've got my eyes all over you baby
Oh baby
Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
With the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
No never will I roam for I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailing
Oh I've got lightning in my veins
Shifting like the handle of a slot machine
Love may still exist in another place
I'm just holding back the handle
No expression on my face
Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
With the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
No never will I roam for I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailing
Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
With the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
No never will I roam for I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailing
Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
With the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
No never will I roam for I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailing
#90spop #Runrig - เพลง
This is certainly the best cover of Rod Stewart's song, Runrig is one of the best representatives of Scottish music. Donnie Munro contributed greatly to the success of runrig for almost two decades.
Runrig for ever!! Miss you so much! ❤
First time in Scotland and heard this on the radio. Instantly added to my playlist.
I discovered Runrig 3 months ago, I so sorry I missed them all these years. They’re wonderful.
I stopped following them when Donnie left the band. Only getting back into following them in 2016 with "the Story" and of course then they stopped for good just a couple of years later. I feel bad about what I missed, it must be hard discovering them now and realising how much you missed. I feel for you.
I discovered them during covid through Colin McLeod and Rory’s Highland Allstars collaboration! I could have cried when I found they’d finished- just what I’d been looking for all these years ! Brilliant and a bit of a Christian ethos going on ! They’ve made this Sasainach very happy- all those albums to play through! Rory is the man! Please listen to Colin McLeod he’s really grey and so good live if you can catch him!!
The joy of You Tube
i had never heard of them till a friend asked me to look for their music that was a few years ago now turn of the century i watch them all the time now so sad that i never went to their last concert amazing group
My wedding song.
20 years now and i'm still addicted to this song!
Runrig forever in my heart ❤
I've seen Runrig live 7 times when the late Bruce Guthro took over as the lead singer. I used to be a member of their fan club before it closed down and before the band retired in 2018
One of Scotlands best ever bands, I seen them in Hawick 🏴 many years ago my ears rang loudly for a week, front row with Runrig & Donnie Munro You couldn't beat it Blooming Fantastic 🏴💙🏴💙🏴
Hey I also saw them in Hawick when I was about 10, with my mum. Hands were aching from clapping!
👍👍♥️🏴😇 Donnie Munro 👌👌👌
My Grandfather wis fae Hawick...ma Papa Adam Young...a wis Truly Blessed with my Wonderful Grandparents and Parent's who raised me on Beautiful Melodies fae Runrig. Seen them in Portsmouth Guildhall a few times...just missed the 1997 Stirling Castle ...still gutted about that 25 years later 👍😅
🏴💙🦢💙🏴
I saw them in Hawick. Actually same day I bought my wedding dress.
Can’t wait to be singing this come the summer at the Euros. C’mon Scotland! 🏴
The beauty that Scotland is sends shivers down my spine.
It's shite being Scottish 😁🏴🥃
@@Rat_King_Reviews Why????
I Absolutely Loved Runrig
Runrig just take this song and make it their own love Donny's right Scottish voice iam Scottish and very proud❤️❤️
Wasn't the same when Donnie left
Love...... still do xx
The greatest band ever miss them so much
What brilliant ambassadors this band are for Scotland ! As someone born in northern England they have helped to raise my spirits in these dark times ! Times when it seems in England just now that "..the best lack all conviction, while the worst are fully of passionate intensity ! ". We all need to believe that a better, more tolerant, more just future lies ahead for us all, whatever our nationality or origins! ...
I see you have had your indoctrination and know your script well.
Monkey@@Belisarius536
Lost count how many times I've seen them live!! Love love LOVE them!!
Where the heck have I been! I only ever remember hearing Rod Stewart sing this! FFS! Sorry Runrig! Better late than never, eh! Aye! 🙋🙏🇮🇪🏴👌
Banging tune 🏴🥃
There will never be another DM ❤️from Scotland 👍👍👍💯
I`m a huge fan of Runrig.
🏴💙🦢💙🏴
Runrig such a virteous Band !! Love them !
If you don't want want to sing along with that chorus with as much power as you can when you hear it, you probably ought to check to see if you're still alive.
(I'm not saying you _will_ sing along with it, but the power is indeed strong.)
Great Scottish Vibes...................and the Scottish Highlands
Scotland’s landscape is simply stunning 🇬🇧❤️
Great Scottish music
Loved them can’t remember how many concerts i went to they were always great
I loved this version!
First concert alone (or only with friends @15/16) I've listened to them for years & was forever nicking the tape of theirs my dad had 😂 till I bought them on cd. The gaelic songs hit hard & reminded me of my Nanas neighbour who was a native speaker. Like my great gran was (didnt get to know her). Ive lost what little I did know. Silly things like fish (he had a large exotic fish tank with all the bells & whistles) trying to relearn & learn more now.
There music says it all great lyrics and such amazing tunes they are scotland
Saw them last in Cambridge ❤️brilliant band. ❤️
such an underrated song it truly is!
this is real heart beating
My memory is scratchy now but I think it was 1988 and Dortmund in Germany. We were posted in Minden and due to a few of our guys going to school with the band, we ended up on stage with them screaming out this song a few drinks were partaken after this concert but as normal for those days no photos survive which is probably a good thing.
View of a sassenach. Runrig, one of the greatest bands of all time. The chorus of this song is ismple but the rest of the song is extremly complex, but Donnie absolutely nails it. Absolute class.
You have got that only one DM ❤️🏴😇
Great tune
Great band.
Buidheann sgoineil! Отличная группа! У мне есть музыка романтика тоже.
I learned about these gentlemen from a Scott’s Bass Lessons thread. And I’m so glad that I did! Beautiful!❤
Immer wieder gut😏

isle of sky, old man of storr, kilt rock, just great.
Love!
Cannot believe they never used this for the film that was being produced and went for rod stewart version
Better version than Rod Stewart
All I can say is Magic
Just love them. And miss them.
Glasgow's unofficial anthem :) a friend of mine wants me to cover this... wish i could figure out that "big meaty" chord they use throughout the song... (reminds of that "big guitar sound" of many an 80s band). thanks for upload. Edit: For any musicans out there, I think it's standard guitar tuning, CAPO on 2nd , C chord (but only the first 4 strings are strummed... twice)
peace. thanks for reading.
fantastic love always best band ever xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Better than Rod Stewart version! Love it. ❤️
Amy Mcdonald And Runrig Versions Of This Song Are The Best Ever,

🏴💙🦢💙🏴
Music is so blue pill
Quickly becoming my favourite pop song,
Bravo questo Signorino!!!!!
POWERFUL L0VE THIS SONG !!! PEACE
I love Runrig’s version of this song. Poor Rory looks so uncomfortable in this video. ❤️
Fantastic....
I always wanted to visit Scotland
Scotland qualified for euro 2020 🙌🏼🏴
Et dire que j'ai raté l'occasion d'aller au dernier concert de runrig en France, avec le Festival interceltique de Lorient en 2018 .
Runrig était l'un des meilleurs groupe de musique écossais...
My first time . Luv it💓
Best version of this song
Thanks to Rod Stewart for creating this beautiful song. Thank to Runring for making it such a powerful version.
Rod didn’t create this, it was written and recorded 5 years before Rod’s version. I agree this is powerful, utterly brilliant!
@@soozbandit68 rene shuman sang the original
I knew this wasn't a composition by Rod but I had no idea an original version existed before. Gotta check it out.
Nice try. But NO ONE - beats good old Rod!!!
@@UnimatrixOne Didn't say his version was bad, I just prefer the Runrig version, which may have to do with the fact that I heard that version first and my brain is now wired to that version 😉😉
1000 times better that that Rod Stewart version !
Saw then at QM College in Edinburgh in 1982. Fab gig.
Donnie :) best voice :)
growing up as a kid i heard story's from my granny about donnie as she knew his Mum when they lived on Skye
Been to a wedding of someone from Portree and loads of older people knew Donnie from when he was a kid haha
Oh god I’m sure they had some stories!
Oh ok this is what Runrig is. I've been learning Scottish Gaelic on Duolingo and Runrig pops up a lot. I just assumed it was someone's name. But then got confused when I had to translate the question, Runrig ARE playing in the hall, right? Lol. I hope it's accurate with Duolingo but I got. Tha Runrig a'cluiche anns an talla, ceart? I won't even try to type how you pronounce all that. Since I don't think the way I write it, in a way I can understand will make sense. Cause I don't understand how all those chicken scratch symbols in Wikipedia under pronunciation is supposed to tell me how to pronounce words that the app just won't tell me how to pronounce. There's a lot of them.
love soung
so sorry that they have quit playing last year.
Donnie wis the man!
❤️🎼🍀🎯
Can't wait to be singing along to this on independence day 🏴👍
DONNIE!!
Baby that's the outer hebridies I worked on a radar stations , I ❤ u.cccc
If my memory serves me, I think runrig were due to sing this at the end of the film loch Ness. Rod Stewart then became available to do the song on the film. So runrig lost out.
Aye they asked Rod Stewart to perform it and he refused as he was too busy. When he heard they had asked Runrig to do it he suddenly became available!
Glass Tiger sang this too
Uabhasach math a rithist.
Love Rod Stewart, but Runrig sings this song better
because Runrig is a scottish band sing from there heart about scotland but Rod is an english man trying to be Scottish
@@thekauders567 you are so right
@Kyros - Yes. His father is scottish, his mother is english.
@Kyros - technically not, its writers were a North American and a Czech brought up in Australia.. first recorded by a Dutchman though. It’s been made to sound Scottish and that works, but it’s as far from a Scottish song as you can get 😆
Is this Runrigs Caledonia?
Far better than Rod Stewart!
You would think after 15yrs in government the SNP might be able to explain to the electorate how the basics of independence will work......
1. Currency.
2. Hard border with England and N Ireland.
3. Reduce the massive deficit without raising taxes .
4. Persuade Spain to let us join the EU.
The Scottish people demand explanations!

Nice try. But no one - NO MAN - beats good old Rod!!!

Any one seen Amy Mcdonald fuck this one up with Rod Stewart? Really annoying and I'm English like Rod Stewart?? But my dad is Scottish!! Rod Stewart probably isn't English probably Irish 🙄❤️
Hmm. Not for me, thanks.
Man this is seriously lacking angst and passion
