- The last piece of the puzzle for my Santa Cruz Megatower V2 has arrived! I originally tried to order a coil frameset but with no ETA on those I went with the X2 air, and I'm glad I did because the air shock works brilliantly (except it's now being warrantied, because Fox). But I'm a coil fan at heart and after the success I've had with the Zeb I was very keen to see how the SD coil performed.

Put mine on today and found the same thing. More active than my Kitsuma air but still not bob heavy if you are a consistent cadence. Seems REALLY smooth!

I've never been a RS fan but after riding a ZEB Ultimate, I was very impressed.
I've been looking for a rear coil, and I keep hearing this coil is very good and more budget friendly than the high-end stuff.
I'm wondering if the new Push Industries SV8 is worth the price?
@@justsayin3600 I haven’t got experience with Push but the benefit is they tune the shock for your bike and your weight, so it should be easier to setup

Love the Zeb, and have not once missed a second rebound knob!
Recently, I bought a spring shock because my X2 broke, I carry the normal RockShox super deluxe select on my ebike and I can tell you that I am not going back to the X2. The X2 is amazing but the coil is coil.
I’ve got the same coil but the 550 springdex (I’m 95kg) I’ve notice you just forget about the backend of the bike now. And now spend my time focusing on the front end. Which I think is good. But I think the coil is really only good when riding my rowdier trails. For more flowy trails I much prefer the air
Yeah agree the air is a bit nicer on jumps and flow. I’ll probably look at getting a vivid down the line for that
Whats the location?
How would you say this compares to the DHX2 on VPP linkage? Is the HBO worth the upgrade? I’m on a Bronson MX and have ran both DHX2 and the previous gen Rockshox SDU coil but I’m curious about the HBO and if it’s worth the upgrade.. I usually have to run a slightly stiffer spring to prevent bottom outs which kind of negates a lot of the coil benefit for me, but it seems like the new HBO might do the trick though!
It makes a huge difference and as you say it lets you run a softer coil and more sag without the downside of bottoming out. I think it’s way better than the dhx2
The early drop off the right of the cemetery roll makes me scared

Any particular reason you decided to stick with the 62.5mm stroke length? Are you still running in the low setting?
I’m sticking to the high position for now. And no particular reason other than I wanted the sag indicators on the rockshox to be accurate
I should really try the high position. But I've honestly gotten on so well with the low position from the start and have only had it overstroked to 65mm. The sag markings would be accurate if it's a 230x65mm shock from factory right?@@MTBMcPhee

How’s the coil been holding up? Have the same shock and thinking of making the switch to the vivid!
I'm still loving the coil, it's been set and forget. I do have a vivid on order so will be able to compare whenever that comes in

@@shaunschneeberger6301 1 click of of HBO and I haven’t found a reason to change from the Santa Cruz standard setting on compression and rebound: -2 from middle LSC, middle HSC, 7 rebound
