I disagree Archie, anyone with a wrist under 6.75 shouldn't wear a dress watch over 36mm. Archie is obviously overweight so he can't empathize with a skinny guys wrist. The datejust looks amazing at 36mm and the lugs actually make the watch look bigger. The 36mm looks much more elegant than the 40mm datejust. I do agree that 33mm watches could be too small.

Steinhart make some nice versions of the original Sub etc. Rolex no longer make these pieces, buying vintage is a minefield and they cost a fortune. If Rolex made them then this would not be an issue but Steinhart fill a gap in the market.

But this is the age old sports watches v. everything else debate. If you are not into sports watches, then you dont want to wear a brick on your wrist. Patek P antique wristwatches cost very strong amounts at auction and their sizes are 33/34 mm. I lust after a 1940s gold PP, 34 mm. Just go look at Antiquorum's site. I recently had several new Tudor chronographs over 40 mm and I let them go, I kept damaging them by hitting them. They were too big. I now have a Rolex 36 mm which suits my small wrists perfectly -- and a vintage Rolex gold Precision from the 1970s at 34 mm I bought at auction (lots of competition, so punters want them real bad) and it sits snugly under my shirt cuffs. No whacking the watch against doors etc.
My girlfriend wears a 38mm watch. I’m not calling anyone’s manhood into question or anything but it is funny to see guys wearing a 34mm watch that is just dwarfed by my girl’s watch haha.

Now I do!😂✔️ Some men have tiny wrist so I like 34-42.. -anything bigger and I immediately forget about it.

I bought and continue to buy all my Rolex pre-owned in the grey market. One the AD’s never have what I want and two: they will dicker very little in my market and three: I have to pay sales tax at an AD which is around 10% where I live. Bottom line. Buying grey market saves about 20-30% off a new Rolex Sport watch. I can usually wear that Sub or Explorer etc a few years and flip it for a profit. You should mention that you have to know what your doing buying used or grey market. And always buy a full kit, box, papers etc. if you ever plan to flip or are a budding collector and plan on keeping the watch long term. Size wise. I think that 36mm is still fine for many men, 7”-7.25” wrist size and under. The Rolex Datejust, previous version Explorer 1 are 36mm and that is a nice size dress watch size. 40-41mm Sport size for 7.25” and under. 7.5” and Bigger wrist, 42-44 is a nice size sport with 38-39mm for a dress size. One: last category you should mention. #11: The huge watch craze. 44mm and up. What’s up with that crap? I see skinny little guys walking around with what looks like a cat food tin strapped to their skinny little wrists. It looks absolutely ridiculous IMO. Over compensating attention divas lol. So glad to see the sizes peak and starting to return to more traditional sizing I hear

Mind you, that's the only one I have less than 40mm, all my other collection is 40mm+ apart from square dress watches which can pass off as a slim elegant flatter look but generally yep, if there is no cuff or sleeve on the arm for a bigger guy certainly, less than 38mm absolute minimum its just too small. I really love the 16030 too, was my first Rolex..will keep it anyway as I love to use it still and probably when I get old and I shrivel up it'll probably be just the right size then ..haha!
