Just got our CAT 289D3 takes getting use to the controls we are going from new holland c190. Great machine tons of power. Great video bc our dealer just drop it off and said congrats! Lol
I tried driving a skid-steer a long time ago, when they first were coming out. Two drive levers and foot pedals for the bucket. After years of driving backhoe, my instinct and reflexes for trying to fill the bucket resulted in me spinning in circles with the bucket high in the air and dumping on my head. Yours looks a bit more user friendly. Thank you for the machine tour, Josh. Stay safe and stay warm
I’ve got a Case 1835 that I run sometimes. I have got to run a Cat one time, I didn’t mind the controls at all, It just took me a while to be productive with the cat.
We have Deere’s and CATs similar enough for me. But when I’m in a Case it’s just different enough to throw me off a bit. Don’t have a problem with them just different. Thanks for watching
im gonna rent one of these for a month, with a forestry mulcher on the front, my farm i bought is completely overgrown with thorn bushes. anything i should know? how often to i top off hydraulic fluid? do i use turtle mode always when mulcher is on? what button would turn the mulcher on? ive only driven the old school 2 pedal front end loaders
The machine should be in turtle while mulching. It makes it easier to control because your hand throttle with be at 100% while running the mulcher. “Electric 7” switch above your head on the left side activates the electric over hydraulic function for things like door control.
@@LumberjackSmokestack It was a rental we had for two weeks; I tried everything and wasn't able to, it must be on the programming. Sometimes when doing a final grading it's neater to use both joysticks.. Thanks for replying
I have a question: What is auxiliary 7 and 8, im fairly new with skidsteers and was wondering what they are for? I have a cat 289c and an hm415c mulcher and was wondering if i needed to turn on auxiliary 7 or 8. Do you think you could help me?
Our unit needs to have auxiliary 7 engaged to operate the mulcher or our snow blower. That give ours control of the doors on the mulcher we have and the chute on the snow blower.
We’ve had it about 2 years now. It took some getting used to at first. Not having foot controls. I’m sure I looked like I was drunk for the first couple of hours🤣
AWESOME! THANK YOU !
Ive been trying to figure out how to set my brand new 239D3 up so it has a Decellerator !!
Exactly what I needed to see... It looks like the easiest model to run coming off my Kubota tractor. Right hand controls look identical. Thanks!
I’m glad you found it useful

I hear that Sean! The dozers left hand stick is mirrored in reverse compared to this machine. Thanks for watching.
I was a outside man at a mines and that skiddster was the best thing to run there beside a huge front inloader!
Yup. If I’m not felling trees out me in the operators seat and I’m happy.

Very nice machine, Cadillac....
I like her! My favorite machine is still our old JD 310D. Thanks for watching
Great bro

@@LumberjackSmokestack thank you very much!
How would you switch control pattern to drive with both joysticks ?
It might be possible in the programming. But there is no provision for that in this machine.

@LumberjackSmokestack ok, so it's ok if the buttons are on at all times right?
@@deirirenteria317 yup
I could see me never getting it out of the trailer 😂 😂
That’s funny!

Can you change the joysticks to "H Pattern"?
At least not from the operators options. Maybe a CAT tech with the software.
apparently no knows what the buttons on the right joystick do because they all skip over those.
On our snow blower they control the tilt of the chute. The function changes depending on the attachment.

How do you turn the high flow on?
@@EricUnger-n6n there is a rocker switch overhead on the right side. It looks like arrows going in a circle with a hydro cylinder in the center
