I didnt get to see much of him in college but im looking forward to seeing him play for the hawks...........Weaver was one of my favorites on the team almost bought one of his jerseys.......I just hope Owen can live up to the hype, I have faith in him.
I'm a big Runaway Beer Truck fan... but the beer in his truck apparently got the best of him when he was cited for drunken driving a month or so ago. He's a good guy and I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson.
We're really going to miss Owen in our offense people dont relize how vital his role was hell we recruited 2 FB's to try and find one...it's just he was a H-back/Fullback and given short yardage Runningback, hell at one point las in the season slaton went down he was our 2nd RB on the depth chart he steped in and ran for 112 yrds 2 td's the guy can play..and play hard and will do Whatever's asked of him and do it damn well
@colt45pistolpete I've always thought that. In case you were wondering though, his name is Markell Harrison, from Jersey if I recall correctly. He was a back up QB.
@mikewr86 glad to see someone here has some true knowledge in Football, Thurman arguably the best all purpose back of all time and Barry arguably the best runner of all time that is as legit as it gets in a backfield
@bl3HNOOBYdumb ...YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! you are right i remember those guys, i remember them, frazier and that whole bunch. they kicked ass at norfolk st. in the late 90"s goooo! norfolk st.
lmao where the hell did they get runaway beertruck from anyway? I know where that TD came from, no one wanted to have their facemasks destroyed by him.
Except for Tim Dwight, and Matt Jones, and Brian Urlacher. Jones is 240 and runs a sub 4.4, Dwight runs low 4.3's (in his prime), and Urlacher could play any position he wanted.
also, look at Justin Fargas of the oakland raiders, he is a starter now and is of hispanic decent, I guess the Raiders ignored the "Only Black Running Back" policy of the NFL you suggest. he averaged 100 yards a game too, no one is saying whites aren't capable of being just as athletic and just as good at running the ball as blacks, its just the fact there aren't any around that are doing it better then the ones around now. it IS coinsidence, NOT racism.
After losing Fraudriguez a few weeks before the game, they could have laid down and let Oklahoma hand them their ass and nobody would have blamed them. It still chokes me up that they manned up and steamrolled Oklahoma, when they had every reason to lay down and quit.
Actually, Weaver left via free agency. Seattle didn't even talk to Weaver, which is 1 reason why he left. don't get me wrong, I think Owen Schmitt is the next big power runner for the Seahawks, and should get a lot of carries in this new offense Seattle has in place. Plus, I think he might be a better fit than Weaver. I'm torn because I like both of them.
@SPCtacular1 Barry will always be Number One. I don't think I'll ever be a fan of Detroit for what they did to him, even if it technically isn't their fault. Just imagine what he could have done with a good team.....it wouldn't even be a contest.
we're not talking about best team. best backfield. yeah we had casey dick as a qb but we also had heisman hopeful mcfadden, (arguably should have won it over troy smith) and felix jones and peyton hillis, all three starting hb's in the nfl
the only reason guys like crouch and vick looked good while running the ball was because defense were spread anyway, I know eric Crouch was an incredible athlete, and I still like to watch that 95 yard run he had in college that was just SICK. but fact of the matter is if he was really that good he would have been playing. and converted to fullbacks in college? MOST PLAYERS positions are converted in college, because most players that are good play running back in HIGH SCHOOL.
what your basicly saying is these guys that were good HIGH SCHOOL running backs but were converted to fullbacks in college deserve to play running back in the NFL because they were good at it in High School... yea, get it straight, a lot of players from safetys to corners to QB's to fullbacks, to D-lineman to line backers played runningback in highschool and were good, it doesn't take much for a talented guy to play RB in highschool.
I think Andy Reid needs to see this and use him like this in a game once. The eggles will not go back to professional shit eater and pitt-product mccoy ever
@ripwalter34 2001 miami Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport, and Frank Gore???? '06(i think) arkansas Darren Mcfadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis???... idk i think wvu is a lil down there
woot! that game was fuckin awesome! oklahoma got punched in the face. wvu ran over and around OU. man schmitt,slaton, white, and devine all in the backfield. woo!
No, There aren't for one simple reason, The NFL is about MONEY, NFL teams get money by being GOOD, that means they need GOOD players. NFL Teams don't care if a running back is white, black, asian, hispanic, or marsian. because who ever pulls in the money or helps them win is going to get the job. if there were white men that could do it, they would be out there, because all NFL teams want to win, if they were out there, you couldn't name them could you?, want to know why? because they aren't
WVU shoulda won the national title last year... or maybe Oregon if Dennis Dixon was healthy but OU gets buttfucked in every bcs bowl game so not a shocker that the supposed "best team" int he country (by kirk and lee corso, said that they would kill em pregame) got killed in this one...
@lakrebravefan9 wasn't Casey Dick your qb? Ouch lol that automatically makes your run game worse than wvus because they had pat white. (A guy who could pass and run) Have fun losing to bama hold on wait a sec I'm getting a call oh wait that's just another wvu td against clemson in a bcs game!
lol we werent talking about best team we were talking about best backfield. sorry but i think Felix Jones/DMAC/Hillis have had a better career than owen schmitt pat white and steve slaton.. where are those guys now? oh okay see my hogs have produced 3 starting halfbacks in the nfl
Jerom Bettis, you mean the guy that has a stolen super bowl ring and a welfare trophy his team the stealers and the ref crew stole in Motown in super bowl 40. that Jerome Bettis?
Brock Forsey? from Boise State? you seriously believe an undersized running back from the WAC Conference was a true NFL talent that could start over most black runningbacks in the NFL had he been given the chance? NEXT! Bradlee Van Pelt? a quarterback? he is able to beat most NFL RB's at their position, you honestly believe he could have started in the NFL at Running Back? wow, just wow NEXT! Luke Staley? from UTAH, the mountain west conference, whos ever even heard of that
Dan Burks- university of alabama at birmingham, so he was an NFL talent? he could have started in the NFL? as weak as the division he was playing in? wow, great pick lets find another! Brandon hancock? the guy plays fullback!, there are plenty of white fullbacks in the NFL, what makes you think he is a capable HB? Lets find another! Jesse Lumsden? a guy that plays in the CFL, against weak players already? he is better then most black NFL RB's wow hilarious! hes one of the biggest on the field!
The runaway beer truck is my favorite sports saying of all time.
The best backfield in college history; FB - Owen Schmitt, QB - Pat White, and HB - Steve Slaton. I miss the good ol days.
I was just watching this at my office in DC and a 5.8 earthquake hit. I kid you not. Owen Schmitt- you are a monster.
I didnt get to see much of him in college but im looking forward to seeing him play for the hawks...........Weaver was one of my favorites on the team almost bought one of his jerseys.......I just hope Owen can live up to the hype, I have faith in him.
Such heart...damn, I miss that guy..
What a tremendous football player, balls to the wall on every play and with speed to burn.
I just smile everytime i think of this game!!! :)
i'll be watching this video 20 years from now. never gets old.
I'm a big Runaway Beer Truck fan... but the beer in his truck apparently got the best of him when he was cited for drunken driving a month or so ago. He's a good guy and I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson.
haven't watched this in 6 months. still as great as ever.
Owen Schmitt will never be a back up!
I bet all Texas fans had a huge grin that night. :)
I like the Mountaineers but I'm a 49er fan in the NFL so Owen Schmitt now plays for the enemy. Him vs Patrick Willis will be fun to watch.
We're really going to miss Owen in our offense people dont relize how vital his role was hell we recruited 2 FB's to try and find one...it's just he was a H-back/Fullback and given short yardage Runningback, hell at one point las in the season slaton went down he was our 2nd RB on the depth chart he steped in and ran for 112 yrds 2 td's the guy can play..and play hard and will do Whatever's asked of him and do it damn well
Another one of those "characters" we have been missing for the last 3 years. Miss ya OS
@colt45pistolpete
I've always thought that. In case you were wondering though, his name is Markell Harrison, from Jersey if I recall correctly. He was a back up QB.
I can't wait to see Big Owen and Julius jones running behind him!!!!
today he is now coming to training camp as Seattle's starter.
he will be doing that on sundays for the seahawks now
Best collegiate backfield in the past ten years has to be the 2007 razorbacks. Peyton Hillis, Darren McFadden, and Felix Jones...
What a great call by Matt Vasgersian
I'm so glad he's with Seattle this season.
Matt Vascerjian urned props for that call
He'd make for a nice backup/future starter to Mike Sellers the man beast.
Weaver was the shit man i was real dissapointed to see that he left the hawks
@mikewr86 glad to see someone here has some true knowledge in Football, Thurman arguably the best all purpose back of all time and Barry arguably the best runner of all time that is as legit as it gets in a backfield
@bl3HNOOBYdumb
...YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! you are right i remember those guys, i remember them, frazier and that whole bunch. they kicked ass at norfolk st. in the late 90"s
goooo! norfolk st.
Is that Gus Johnson on the call? Awesome.
that was big and great game for wvu,
ohhh man SHIT!!!! lol love his name lol..
4 straight bowl wins. nuff said.
BEAST
Schmitt Happens!
A quick note to WVU. Retire #35 now!
@ripwalter34 true enough..i would know, being an arkansas razorbacks fan
lmao where the hell did they get runaway beertruck from anyway?
I know where that TD came from, no one wanted to have their facemasks destroyed by him.
Did they really? That's the best news I've heard all day.. Can't wait til 11/22 to see OSU give ol Rod a beatin :)
that was the schmitt
Except for Tim Dwight, and Matt Jones, and Brian Urlacher. Jones is 240 and runs a sub 4.4, Dwight runs low 4.3's (in his prime), and Urlacher could play any position he wanted.
50k hits! Awesome!!!!
Yeah, he's the runaway beertruck! Didn't ya hear what the commentator said?? :) It was kinda one of those wtf moments..
amen
also, look at Justin Fargas of the oakland raiders,
he is a starter now and is of hispanic decent, I guess the Raiders ignored the "Only Black Running Back" policy of the NFL you suggest.
he averaged 100 yards a game too,

that guy could have caught him he just didnt want any part of schmitt
they did not trade weaver they just did not resign him and the egeals did
Actually, Weaver left via free agency.
That would be so if OU had been the better team. However, OU was outclassed in EVERY facet that night so save it.
@SPCtacular1 Barry will always be Number One. I don't think I'll ever be a fan of Detroit for what they did to him, even if it technically isn't their fault. Just imagine what he could have done with a good team.....it wouldn't even be a contest.

yeah just be careful.. i put a fiesta bowl montage up on here and they took it down because of 'copyrights'. gayy.
go mountaineers!
the only reason guys like crouch and vick looked good while running the ball was because defense were spread anyway,

nah all of yall are wrong, carnell "cadillac" williams and ronnie "hummer' brown, and kenny irons.... and then jason campbell at QB
what your basicly saying is these guys that were good HIGH SCHOOL running backs but were converted to fullbacks in college deserve to play running back in the NFL because they were good at it in High School...

@mikewr86 Yeah. They didn't have a good QB but Barry Sanders makes up for that.
difference is Vick actually did something, what did crouch do?
@gator12390 hell yea
I think Andy Reid needs to see this and use him like this in a game once. The eggles will not go back to professional shit eater and pitt-product mccoy ever
@ripwalter34 2001 miami Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Najeh Davenport, and Frank Gore???? '06(i think) arkansas Darren Mcfadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis???... idk i think wvu is a lil down there
@ripwalter34 lol try barry sanders backing up thurman thomas at OK state
look at 0:49 its lil wayne
@ripwalter34 if they were the best, why didn't they win a championship?
well, he graduated so playing for a PRO team would be a logical step. i don't understand your point.
Will you play with MY runaway beertruck?? :) Seeing the wife doesn't want to...
good luck with raiders! #birdgang
@ripwalter34
Well said!!
nahhhhhh troy smith, beanie wells
@colt45pistolpete LOL he didn't get much playing time..
@Clackergille Three players don't make a team.
@ripwalter34 In college history? Really?
@ripwalter34 hell naw Mcfadden Felix Jones Peyton Hillis
You may not own OU but WVU did
woot! that game was fuckin awesome! oklahoma got punched in the face. wvu ran over and around OU. man schmitt,slaton, white, and devine all in the backfield. woo!

dOUche
the stealers suck.
Brock Forsey? from Boise State? you seriously believe an undersized running back from the WAC Conference was a true NFL talent that could start over most black runningbacks in the NFL had he been given the chance?
