Welcome to episode 16 of the Cinemassacre Podcast!! The full crew of Cinemassacre is BACK (James, Kieran, and Justin). We're also shortening these podcasts to be tighter, in a 35 to 50 minute range, so, excuse us as we slide into that.
The guys chat about their lives and the stuff they love: movies, games, and making videos. You’ll also hear about behind-the-scenes antics, anecdotes about being long-time TH-camrs, and a ton of obscure pop-culture crap. It’s the off-the-cuff banter from Rental Reviews mixed with an AVGN panel, every Tuesday around 3pm ET... or find it on cinemassacre.com or wherever you get your podcasts shortly after.

So we could adjust the game minutely until it worked and put the vhs tape into it to hold it in the spot that made the game work. Weird blessing in disguise to make games easier to get working. Around 1999/2000 you were spoiled for choice in everything except FPS games, and even then you had Doom, Quake 2, Duke Nukem, Alien Trilogy/Resurrection, Disruptor and a few others. Had I grown up with the SNES with the same access to games then it would be stiff competition for my favourite console.

all i could think of the entire episode was pushing the cartridge down into the NES after using hot breath to warm it up, but then once seated do your best in the minimal space to jimmy it back towards you/face of the console. Seemed to work more times then not. NES made you work to enjoy its greatness, i can appreciate that

I tend to champion the N64 as my favorite gaming console. Too many powerhouses and integral gaming experiences on the console for me to put anything other than that for my top…

@Chris Kinsella I tend to look at the N64 and PS1 like this.
The PlayStation had multiple strong hits. Metal Gear. Spyro. Crash. Undeniable greats.
But the N64 had straight knockouts. Mario 64. Ocarina. Banjo Kazooie. At least, that’s my perspective.

Getting the cartridge to sit just right where the back lip was just scraping the edge of the NES seemed to work. As well as putting a cartridge flat on top of the other. Now we use rubbing alcohol moistened in a q-tip, even if the back of the cartridge says not too. Works for all cartridges of Nintendo, including portables.
