- The American composer Roger Goeb (1914-1997) produced a sizable body of works including six symphonies, a number of concertos, chamber music and more. Still we hear very little of his music in recordings or concert performances. He studied with Nadia Boulanger and Otto Luening and was himself a teacher at several schools including Bard College, Julliard, Columbia and Stanford. There was an RCA-Victor recording of his third symphony (1950) conducted by Stokowski, which is now available through Foothill Records.
The fourth symphony (1955) is a three-movement work with bright, pulsing orchestration.
First Movement
Second Movement - 6:54
Third Movement - 14:20
Performed by the Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Akeo Watanabe
This recording is available through Foothill Records:

Full of energy and color. Cherishable music, as with so many mid-20C American composers (what I call the “American Symphony School”).
The sound palette of this--well--sounds like a tv crime show! Love it! Reminds me of music of Leonard rosenman for movie east of eden or rebel without a cause or something like that.....
A beautifully crafted work. Thks for the post.
nice
Very American that is certain.
