Thanks for making informative videos...I know this video is 4 years old...I just ordered the Forester seating die for my 6.5 Grendel and also use the Mighty Armory FL sizing die...
Came across your channel a couple of days ago. I have learned so much about reloading and the tools that make it more fun and alot easier. Thank you and keep them coming. My only complaint is, I just wish there was an email or something I could utilize for questions that come up while watching your content. Anyway, thanks for the quality videos.
Forster seating die.... Zero micrometer barrel to scale on die. Then set up seating threaded stem with lock nut to your cartridge desired length (similar to normal seating dies). Now you have your die micrometer at zero for your cartridge and can make minor adjustments from your zero set point.
I like your videos, very informative. I couldn't stand using that mounting bracket though with the press flopping around like that. Maybe doesn't make any difference, but I would never use it. Much prefer a solid mount, but I guess if you're changing often in your case.
Excellent video. I just received my Forster bushing die which bumps the shoulder. The Forster co-axial press is a floating system. Do you think the extra cost is worth it in terms of concentricity?
Hey Gavin. Love your videos. Was looking for a forster set with the micro seating die but couldnt find any available. Instead they have redding compitition dies set. What do you think of those?
have you used Redding resizing dies in your Co-Ax? I am finding that during resizing the upstroke on the AX with a 6.5c Redding die takes considerable effort as opposed the 7.62X54r Forster in the same press.
I have, but I haven't had issues with effort/force, that's strange! I do notice the difference with the elevated expander ball in the Forster dies... (for neck expansion)
This is really cool I've been waiting for this since the unboxing video. I can't wait to see how this press Stacks up compared to the other presses on the market if it lives up to the hype or not.
Please compare these to the Whidden dies! I use Forester for my 300blk and compared to Dillon and Lee, well, there is no comparison. Forester's quality is top notch. I unfortunately haven't gotten into reloading for my 6.5CM yet. Precision stuff is quite expensive!
I'd really like to see how you get what bushing you need specifically to bump your neck back a thousandth. I ended up with the rcbs gold medal match FL sizer, neck/bushing sizer and micrometer seater when they were recently on sale. Trying to figure out which bushing I need is a little confusing and whenever I ask the local reloading shop they just tell me not to worry about it and leave the shoulder alone. I just worry about stuck cases eventually with longer strings of shooting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is for a Savage 10BA Stealth 6.5 Creedmoor. If you plan on talking about this in your later video I'll gladly wait. Keep up the great work.
The bushings are to control neck sizing- it's a function of bullet diameter and case neck thickness. I have some math to show how to calculate required bushing size here: ultimatereloader.com/2016/05/13/l-e-wilson-full-length-bushing-type-sizing-die-overview-and-setup/
Realpy like the forester dies for 6.5 cm and bought the ultra feom watching you but keep having the c clip come off the seater die. Sending too forester but sucked. Loading the starline brass also seems good so far
Gavin a querry?? If the seating stem is leaving a slight ring on a couple of bullets but especially on 165 grn Accubonds for my .308 are there any other stems available that will eliminate this??
im using it for 6.5 Grendel, and when I place the seater die and screw it in until it stops, and then i turn back 1 revolution, after that if I unscrew top cap, insert factory grendel round, and start screwing top cap back, it never stops... in other words for factory round I can never reach a stop when screwing top cap. what could be the issue?
Paul- I'm still experimenting, but from what I understand the small rifle primer has more to do with consistent burn (compared to large, for 6.5 Creedmoor) and can also withstand higher pressures before the primer pocket loosens up... More to follow.
I am definitely interested in this as I am just starting my 6.5 creedmoor adventure and was wondering why there was a difference in primer size. I have not purchased any brass yet so looking forward to some further info.
Hi, I'm preparing to do reloading for the first time. What die would you recommend to use with Forster bonanza co ax2 press for caliber 223 5.56 and 9mm pistol?
why would you pick LR pockets over Small pocket? or vise versa. want to reload and get a 6.5 bolt but don't know if i should get large or small primer pocket
Do yourself a favor and don't use the chargemaster as your precise weigh scale. Get a good balance beam like RCBS 1010. I made the mistake of trusting my charge master and it has royally shat the bed in consistency. I got my 10 10 and checked consistency with a 61.2 gr charge and it was throwing ES of 0.2 high and low. 61.0 to 61.4 makes a big difference even in my hunting 270
As a major fan of Forster dies I am sad to say that the quality has gone down a lot. Last 2 seater dies had issues.... I will try Whidden for a while now.
hi got your video great one I have got my first MEC press for loading up 12gage it's grabber I need some help with the powder measuring and the shot part 11/8 oz thanks again for your nice channel
Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
I reckon since you brought this idea up that you probably should go ahead and explain that it is through baptism, i.e. submersion in water, that the blood of Jesus is applied and our sins washed away: Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, and 1 Peter 3:21 for a start. Plus, when we are baptized, or filled, with the Holy Spirit the Spirit will bear witness with our spirit, Rom. 8:16, and we will speak with other tongues: Acts 2, Acts 10, and Acts 19. And that is just the beginning of ministering to others as our lives are changed. Thanks for bringing this up.

Perfect timing, I have not used my newly acquired RCBS Lite and going back to reloading 6.5 pretty soon. Thanks!
Awesome, sounds like we'll both be having fun :)
I'll be paying close attention to this series!
Yeah, it's going to be interesting. 10 shot load development and more... Nothing like getting things "dialed in" :)

Awesome way to do it! Thanks for sharing. Isn't it great to be able to "dial things in" ? :)
Starline case capacities are known to be Smaller do to thicker brass so watch your loads! Great brass though.
Great video. Just ordered the micrometer seater. Thanks Gavin!

Great video, forester makes great dies
Would be very interested to see the run out/your thoughts on the Co-Ax vs the Mec Marksman for consistency/accuracy
Fortunecookie45LC already did this run out test and for what he can tell they are the same consistency
Can the expander ball be removed from the full length sizer??
Hey Gavin. Love your videos. Was looking for a forster set with the micro seating die but couldnt find any available. Instead they have redding compitition dies set. What do you think of those?
Great video! Thanks! Do you have to use Forster dies or can u use RCBS or other dies? Thanks !!

The press is awesome, and each one has unique benefits and features- it can be hard to decide!
gavintoobe thank you you are correct but your videos sure make it easier to sort through all the information I appreciate them greatly
How do you set up the FL sizing die after taking it apart
For the Forster micro meter, will the setup be exactly the same on a rcbs rock chucker Supreme?
Please compare these to the Whidden dies! I use Forester for my 300blk and compared to Dillon and Lee, well, there is no comparison. Forester's quality is top notch. I unfortunately haven't gotten into reloading for my 6.5CM yet. Precision stuff is quite expensive!
Any chance of seeing a review on the Co-Ax® Primer Seater with E-Z-Just Shell Holder Jaws? Looks like a great universal priming system!

Thanks m8.
Do you have a diagram of your reloading bench. It looks good and doesn’t take a lot of space.
Do you prefer the Forster or rcbs matchmaster dies
Realpy like the forester dies for 6.5 cm and bought the ultra feom watching you but keep having the c clip come off the seater die. Sending too forester but sucked. Loading the starline brass also seems good so far
My forester seating due says compress the bottom bushing half way into the die, why did you back it out?
Never mind….you screwed it and compressed it all the way, then backed it out. Soory for the mistake
You d'ont adjust expanding ball height?
Gavin a querry?? If the seating stem is leaving a slight ring on a couple of bullets but especially on 165 grn Accubonds for my .308 are there any other stems available that will eliminate this??
Have you compared these to the Redding Competition Dies?
Can i remove the micrometer and use it on other seater dies of different calipers
im using it for 6.5 Grendel, and when I place the seater die and screw it in until it stops, and then i turn back 1 revolution, after that if I unscrew top cap, insert factory grendel round, and start screwing top cap back, it never stops... in other words for factory round I can never reach a stop when screwing top cap. what could be the issue?
Do you clean your brass with the spent primers still in the case?
hello, how do you set the 2 black screws on the top of the sizing die ? is it only plying on the pin length ? thanks
Great video Gavin! Does primer size affect the burn rate of the powder? (I may have used “burn” incorrectly).
Paul- I'm still experimenting, but from what I understand the small rifle primer has more to do with consistent burn (compared to large, for 6.5 Creedmoor) and can also withstand higher pressures before the primer pocket loosens up... More to follow.

It makes sense, but would love to see a practical comparison (currently using large) to consider a possible switch. Keep it up!
I am definitely interested in this as I am just starting my 6.5 creedmoor adventure and was wondering why there was a difference in primer size. I have not purchased any brass yet so looking forward to some further info.
Hi,

Forester seating die vs RCBS Golden Match, your thoughts?
Howdy Gavin, is it normal to experience a .005 variation in OAL (base to ogive) ? Reloading .338 with forster micro seater.
No, sounds like something is going on! I'd investigate...
@@Ultimatereloader hmm alrighty thanks mate 👍🏼
if you had to get one will it be the coax ro the mec
I remember my first attempt at reloading! 300 WM! with a Co-Ax press!
why would you pick LR pockets over Small pocket? or vise versa. want to reload and get a 6.5 bolt but don't know if i should get large or small primer pocket
LARGE
Has anybody tried the Forrester neck sizing pump die on a non-Forrester press and get your shoulder bump?

Anyone could help me saying the threads of the spindle? They seem 10-32 and 6-40 unf.
Thanks in advance.

This is worthless unless you have reloaded before…!
