Hey! A live gig situation would be cool to see too, having to use things like DIs, IEMs, types of usb cables. I would also recommend having your audio interface in a separate usb port, since they can drain lots of power, and we need them to be stable at all time. Also, midi controllers that use rgb lights also drain a little bit more, so using a usb C hub, or a DC powered hub helps relieve a little bit of the power process, and reduces the chances of experiencing issues when playing live. Cheers, Brett!

Thanks! All important points here. FWIW, the caldigit has been great for supplying sufficient power, but when I am playing out, I do indeed plug the audio interface straight into the computer. Noted RE: Live gig situation!

If you're playing live you wouldn't be connecting to speakers. You'd be connected to an amp or direct out hopefully with a monitor. Speakers are great for the home. I am trying to figure out how to use MIDI running on Linux for a live gig.

Great video! Will you please do a follow-up video that goes over you physical setup? In particular, I'm looking for recommendations about how to handle all the gear when you're out at a gig, Sunday services, etc. Between the keyboard, laptop, and audio interface, I'm out of room on my x-stand. I'd like to add a mini-controller but just don't know where to put it. Thanks!

Noted! I use a a good amount of velcro to keep things secured to the bottom of my keyboard. I out my physical MIDI controllers on my music stand, since I am generally not reading charts.

The only problem ive been experiencing with a setup pretty much identical to this has been the latency. There is a considerable amount of time in between the input and output.

Thanks for your very informative video. I use a Radial Key Largo which is a three channel mixer and an audio interface. Built like a tank, main and monitor send, and clean signal path. My only complaint is that there’s no eq, but it simplifies my setup. Thanks!

Thank you! When hooking up to a mixer live are you taking up two interfaces from your audio interface?

Hi Sir. Thanks for sharing. I find your Videos quite informative. I probably don't know the right question to ask as I am just starting to use Ableton Live... I would like to be able to use Ableton Live as a Keyboard having the ability to Split Patches & Trigger Samples using the onboard Sounds from Ableton Live 10. So far I have not seen a Tutorial from Ableton or anywhere showing how this can be done. There are Musicians who no longer worry about taking their Keyboards with them. Just their Computer & connect via USB to any Keyboard that is USB compatible turning of the Local Channel.... Are you able to point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

I have a radial KL-8 mixer which has USB connections. I'm curious if that would replace the need of an audio interface?

Thanks for the video very helpful. Could you rell me what is the best set up. I'm a solo keyboard player using a portable digital piano. I want to use backing tracks with a click that I already had set up on my iPad. The audio for the backing tracks will be coming straight out of my iPad. What is the best set up for live performance ie using an audio interface and direct box etc. You help would be greatly appreciated appreciated.
