    GREAT video and work, almost certainly the best DeAgostini X-Wing I have seen (I have seen many). The level of detail is superb, the pilot, the cockpit, the rest of the modifications, and the repainting and weathering. Congrats 🧐👌

      Thanks Julian! Certainly has it's failings part and kit wise but a little effort and a fair wedge of bloody minded determination can get it sorted. I was happy with it and so is the owner so all good. All the best, ILM

      Of course you can do it. Time and constant practice to hone your skills is what's required so I always say have a go. Succeed or fail, you will have learned something to carry forward to the next project. All the very best, ILM

      @@incrediblefruit Hiya! Nope never been a member of the RPF. They are real fans with a love of the subject matter and what they build reflects that which is all good. I'm not that much of a fan of anything, I just build mainly for others and do things to their preferences like the above X-Wing, the 44" Eagle Transporter and so on. That side of things is getting wound up anyway due to health issues so i'll just be building for myself for as long as I can. All the best, ILM

      @@IanLawrenceModels There's so much you could teach people because not only are you in my opinion a master craftsman but definitely one of the top 10 modelmakers i've seen since I started scratchbuilding back in the 80's and i've seen many...

      @@incrediblefruit The kind words are very much appreciated and there are many WIP logs on my website that show how I arrived at the end result. I have no problem with answering questions and helping where I can. I am on a few message boards related to scale modelling and that'll do for me, also on Facebook for whatever that's worth and have plenty of interaction there. All the best, ILM

    Very nice. I couldn't remember if the tank hatch part in the back pointed up or down on Luke's Red 5.

    • @IanLawrenceModels
      @IanLawrenceModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Steve. All the reference I have shows it with the tank turret part pointing down but then the rest are either up or down depending on which way they put the armature plug back in when shooting the models so either way really. All the best, ILM

    what a nice looking piece. Congrats. do you know if this is the most accurate Red-Five out there? I want to correct remake and paint a model ive done. Regards/Ed

    • @IanLawrenceModels
      @IanLawrenceModels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thank you kindly Eddie. No, certainly not the most accurate in comparison to the studio model, there are a few resin kits out there for a studio scale X-Wing that are much, much closer to how the filiming model looked. This one is close in a lot of ways though or at least a base to go from but also, this one is almost 1/2 as big again as the SS model. I wish you luck in your build/paint and for the colours, may I recommend you search for Archive X paints if you have not done so. They have reproduced the original paints used on the studio miniatures. All the best, ILM

    • @eddiexx
      @eddiexx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IanLawrenceModels oh i understand, what resin kit would you say is a good one to have as reference as a hero studio model? (to try to find pictures from) In any case, i love the models we do our own way, its fun to make accurate but there is nothing like your own take with your own gained experiences and small "errors" and details that make it your own model right, its the love for the craft really. :)

    • @IanLawrenceModels
      @IanLawrenceModels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eddiexx Good question. They seem to go in and out of production but currently I think that Larson Designs does a kit which is pretty good. Nexus models have (I think) both the hero and pyro type going. About the best i've seen would be a Mike Salzo V5 of you can get good pics of it. Oh I agree, I can appreciate the fully accurate paint/weatherong jobs but a personal touch does no harm methinks. All the best, ILM
