Jai Dee is good heart, used not only to denote kindness but to describe a person as generous. Nice place - how much to build me a bamboo hut on my property?
That's right Ken, they did tell me this meaning. It's a nice place and very different for inside the old city. I'm sure they could give you some info on the huts.
@@WalkAboutWayne The language is a fascinating look into the culture- as you probably know Kao Jai means to understand... Jai is heart and Kao is to enter - - so, true understanding comes from entering your heart.. Keep up the good work - your enjoyment is contagious.
@@WalkAboutWayne Thanks. Great channel. I'm in the Bronx NY day dreaming about retiring in 9 yrs and getting the hell out of America. Just found your channel 👍. It's extremely informative.
This is the best video! I had a couple of places in mind where I was planning to book then I saw this video, got in contact with them and now booked for a few nights! Thank you so much for this, Wayne! 🎉
That's great!! I remember finding this place, I wasn't expecting to find something like this inside the old city. They have a great restaurant and bar also. Thank you.
Thanks Wayne. The location of those huts is excellent. Been down that soi hundreds of times. When and if I make it back there I'll keep Jaidee in mind.
Nice one Wayne. Very nice vlog. The multiple bamboo hut set up reminds me of a place in Pai that I stayed in. Very similar indeed. Very nice. Thank you 😃👍🏼
That's a great find Wayne . Unique to find a setting like that in the middle of city . I could quite imagine I was on an island . Posher than any bamboo bungalow I've stayed in
Nice one! Sure, you can get rooms dirt cheap around here (as stated in the video) but this place is a little different, it's got that jungle type of feel.
Such a cool place. The bamboo huts look pretty cool. I live out in Doi Saket and everyday I drive 2 km into, Ban Bo Sang to the market for lunch and to pick up fruits and vegetables. Mangosteen out here are only 60 THB per kilo. I love those little things. Once again Wayne, nice video.
In Thai, they do not have a word that literally translates to 'kind'; instead they said 'jai dee' meaning 'good heart' If someone is kind to you and you want to let her/him know, in Thai you can simply say Khun Jai Dee Maak which means you are very kind.
Another good one Wayne. Nice place & good to know about. I prefer less expensive. I have no criticism of this place though; it's A-OK & by western standards very well priced. I prefer a place like you showed in indigenous neighborhoods. $100. Month. Leaves lots of dough to eat, clothes, etc. Not to mention having a fat little kitty for a rainy day. You never know what's coming around the corner as far as unexpected expenses. I find a great deal of comfort in knowing if the shit hits the fan I have the dough to deal with it. At times like that you may find yourself wishing you didn't drop a large part of your income on higher rent because they have a pool & gym. If you have deep pockets & it's no burden on your finances, more power to you! I need a clean place to sleep & shower, not much more. That's me; i fully respect other ppl's choice of lifestyle. No condescension at all! Go Wayne! 👍🇹🇭⛪🏡⛺😁
I lived in chaing mai from 1994 to 1998 . Beautiful condo for 6000 baht. Spent most of my time on loi Krio street in bars and market place bars some strip bars can’t remember the names. Best time of my life. Girls girls and more.girls. Lbfm.
Cool Hut joint, Wayne.. all the plants makes me wonder if you ever wear mosquito repellent? I’ve got about 20 bites on me right now. My city in Canada is bad for some reason this year. Think if the mosquitoes are bad in Thailand I might wear the linen shirt and pants.. look like Lawrence of Arabia. Ha.
I still have the same bottle of Mozzy spray i arrived with🤣. I never used it. I can't remember the last time i got bit by a Mosquito. That's not to say they're not here. Thousands of them in the evenings. It's always a great idea to wear long pants in the evening. I tend to go eat before sun down.
@@WalkAboutWayne That’s a relief. I think I’d be out a lot more during the day, too and be on the computer working at night because of the time zone with the U.S.
Nice little gem of a soi that one Wayne. I might have to check it out for myself in the next few days. After touching down in the amazing city of Chiang Mai last Tuesday a bamboo hut is starting to look good to me as i'm having a few problems finding what i'm looking for as far as the accommodation goes. A bit like the proverbial fish out of water so to speak. Any recommendations as to which area to look at or a good real estate agent to contact would be appreciated mate. I'll even buy you green tea or two for the info. Cheers mate👍
Sure you can get cheaper ( as stated in the video ) this place offers something a little different though. The whole area is littered with 300 or 400 Baht rooms. This place is cool for in the old city though. Cheers man
Wayne...Can you tell me what the best way to change money in thailand would be...I dont want to bring to much cash from Oz and carry that around....and bank transfers, credit / debit cards...fees are ridiculous...I was thinking Western Union or Wise, but some of these you need to already have a bank account in Thailand for the money to be sent to....Is it still possible to open a bank account in Thailand on a tourist visa? cheers
Get the Halifax clarity card or the Barclay travel one. Halifax is the best, i used it for years. I know it's hassle changing banks though, if you're not already with Halifax. My other options would be Wise, Starling or Revolut. If your here longterm, open the bank account and transfer with Wise. Thats what i do now.
@@WalkAboutWayne Hi Wayne..Thanks for your reply mate...Wise does look very good. Do you use the Wise debit card...and do most places accept it in Thailand that you are aware of?
@@richardbrown9344 I never used my card, i only had it for back up. It will work the same as any other Mastercard / Visa though mate. The only problem with wise is the low ATM limits. If you go over the ATM limit, they charge, but i would still rather do that then use a regular debit card. Just bring a mixture of cash and a couple cards.
