      I have an AGV K6 with a clear shield. Very quiet compared to the Shoei RF-SR I started with but wouldn't mind even quieter. Yeah....I do wear earplugs every ride. Also wish I could get a yellow shield for it....not the gold Iridium, but they don't seem to be made. I've been looking for a quieter helmet. I am considering a Schuberth C3 Pro. What do you like that is quiet? Thanks.

    You should really specify this is an issue only where you live - the US. In Europe we can pretty much get them from every online store, including AGV's own webshop.

      Sorry about that. This is a problem in the United States. One of many problems we have here.

    That's progress for you. I bought an AGV helmet in 1978. I'm still using it and the cheek pads are still fine. I bought a few extra visors, when I bought the helmet - after negotiating a discount of course. If a visor seems unsalvageable, I use very fine sand paper to remove the scratches and then polish with tooth paste. I learned this as an intern for a watchmaker. For expensive visors I would use Plexus, but I can buy two visors for my old helmet at the price af one can of plexus.
    Now I see the arrival of nicely shaped helmets made according to ECE 22.06. I will certainly get one of those now. They call it retro style, but I want one because they have no protrusions that can catch the asphalt in a low side crash.

    Hey Devil, if you are still having this issue. Have you looked at the k6-S? That's the replacement for the K6 you and I both have. Might be away to get it, they didn't seem to change much.

    I was instant sold when I tried in a shop. How comfortable and lightweight it is compared to my old HJC(which again is a great brand). Revzilla had it on closeout and available on my size. Best $350 spend on a helmet. Cheek pads on mine are tight but I expect to break in, or I can order cheekpads with less thickness.

  • @kbstuff19
    @kbstuff19 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Motostorm has every size of cheek pads for the k6 in stock. With the good exchange rate and lack of VAT, just purchase a couple more things you usually need anyway and the shipping fee to the US is totally offset. Not associated with them in any way, just an amateur tip: check an Italian vendor if looking for Italian parts. ;)

    Thank you for this video brother! I have owned 1 AGV it was a AGV K5S and I crashed in to on my 2008 Hayabusa with the K5S on and it did superb!! I didn't even feel the impact of the ground! The only negative I have about the helmet was when i crashed is that the shield came off as soon as I hit the Ground. I have also owned Scorpion helmets prior to owning AGV helmets I have owned the Scorpion EXO-R2000 and the Scorpion EXO-R710. They were both great helmets while I had my 750 Suzuki Katana but as soon as I got the Bussa I knew I had to step it up and I did with the AGV K5-S. I now own a AGVK1-S the new generation of that helmet and its super light at high speeds feels really stable. But now that you mentioned to us about those cheek pads i might look at another Brand for my back up helmet. here was my bussa before I crashed it.

    Hahahaha, I have a K5S and similar issue with the cheekpads, they’ve worn out in less than 6 months. It’s still okay for the road, but on the track the helmet keeps slipping in my eyes… also, the little plastic crap that holds the visor got broken. None of these parts are in stock anywhere in the country, shops just sell the helmet itself… I had to order the plastic bit all the way from Italy, with shipping costing as much as the bit, but I refuse to order a replacement cheekpad for €90 if it gets loose in so little time 😅

  • @saddle8bag
    @saddle8bag ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think they wanna sell you a new helmet ;) I have a similar issue with an Arai. Faceshield got scratch up in a dropsy. Nada online. Used to find those things in the helmet section of shops. Days gone by.

    I’m sure you’ve been asked this before, but I wondered about your floor tiles. I think they look great, but are they easy to maintain and keep clean? I keep my lawn mower, dirt bikes and road bikes in the same place…..d’ya reckon this could work well?

      NASA never cleaned the tiles on the space shuttles. If that's good enough for a space craft going 17.000 miles per hour I recon it would be good enough for your shed 😉
