John Lennon would’ve been honored that Brian sang the guts out of this song and showed his true emotions at the time and put it all out there for the world to hear and see. This gave me such a lump in my throat, I wanted to put my hand on Brian’s back and let him know everything would be alright. What a wonderful and honest talent this man is. There could be no other besides John Lennon to give this song such meaning. Thank you, dear Bri. We loved you then. We still love you now - even more. 🌹🕊️🌹

Jeez. The Doc is up there baring his soul and singing his guts out, but people in the room can't STFU and listen. Very happy that the rest of the world kept on believing in Queen FOR Brian during the years that he could not.
This made me cry; my heart aches for this Brian, whose world must've seemed so bleak and hopeless. His performance is so heartfelt and lovely, though, and truly shows how talented he is !!

Perfect vocal tone. Im very impressed. He did amazing in his version of too much love will kill you, but this to me sounds betted than freddy murcury. Not putting freddy down. Putting brian may up. I can imagine him singing as my guitar gently weeps.

Think this was during his very depressed period. Glad he came “back to the light”. He must now believe in Queen as he has done so much to continue their legacy. Listened to this right before I went to bed and was so upset I had trouble sleeping.

John's version began with "God is a concept by which we measure our pain. I'll say it again." Then he said it again. Seems like a major omission. One of my favorite things about Queen was that they made music everybody could enjoy and rarely got into politics, religion and such. As Freddie sang, "All I want to do is bicycle". Lots of love to Brian.
John's version is a masterpiece. Brian's is just a song.
Who wants to hear an impersonation of the original...let Brian perform his magic however which way he wants
@@Oh_I_Will Agreed. I love John's version but the way Brian reworked this to capture his own feelings at the time and the struggle of getting over Freddie's death is beautiful
I would argue that's not a fair characterization of Queen's music; Brian himself wrote "White Man", which is apparently still too politically radical for a lot of America. I think Brian's omission of the opening is a purely creative choice; it's not like he's expecting the listener to not miss such an iconic beginning.
He is and always will be the sweetest, sexiest and my most favourite rock star ever! So many feels🌟

Lovely, emotive performance. He was wrong though, Queen lives on; the dream lives on. Hindsight is twenty-twenty though. This was a sad time in his life and his performance spoke perfectly to his reality at that time.
I agree with you. It was a terrible period for him. For if he really didn't believe in being Queen any more he would not have toured with Roger nor kept their dream of making a biopic of Freddie which took them 10yrs. He's in a different place now and I'm happy for that.

He also sang lead on a number of Queen songs: Someday One Day, She Makes Me, ‘39, Good Company, Long Away, All Dead All Dead, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, Leaving Home Ain’t Easy, Sail Away Sweet Sister, Lost Opportunity, and No One But You, and he took the lead line on parts of Who Wants to Live Forever, I Want it All, and Mother Love. It wasn’t all Freddie! :)

I agree John sang it with such raw emotion, but Brian has done a reasonable job putting his own spin on it.... But I still love John singing it it resonates what he was feeling back then and it was on of his best compositions
Not a huge Queen fan but always admired and respected there huge talent I was actually at the 85 Live Aid gig were they stole the show. I love Lennon but as a musician myself I totally agree with Brian's own version here to do an exact copy of any song is not art or creative it's just imitating someone else it takes more to create something new and put your own spin on it with your own emotions. Plus were never gonna better a great original so why try. Who could better Bohemian Rhapsody or Imagine no one impossible.

I don't believe in you too, bible makes me changed my life and gave a chance to stand again after all the depression i'd felt before jesus gave me a positive in life.
If it works for you that's great. The point of the song, in my opinion, is that deep trauma and pain can't just be healed by searching and chasing after all kinds of things. It first and foremost requires a rekindling of self love after we've had our inner child trampled on. This allows us to fully love our fellow humans once again.
That's my interpretation anyway. And that's reality. ❤

Brian May in spiritual terms has no problems with the concept of GOD, he does not declare himself agnostic as such, even though it is known that he is part of the lodge of Freemasonry to a high degree and they believe in a creator whom they call the architect of the universe. . Lennon however was an atheist.
