    We prepared a husband and wife who died within days of each other and they had matching wicker coffins. I do believe that some people (and animals) die of a broken heart

      @mindyg943: I know I’d die of a broken heart if my mom passed. We’re very close and a lady I knew passed away when her mom passed away. So I already bought my plot and head marker. My beloved dad has gone to be with the Lord and 8 months later im still a mess💔

      Yes, it is called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Basically the pumping function is significantly reduced because of some sort of stressor.

    - I'm stunned, a little uncomfortable, and amazed you can take the person home for a couple days! Trying to imagine being able to do that with my mom... Would've given me time to fully understand, as her sudden and traumatic loss left me in a PTSD state of "what happened, where did she go?" Here in America I think if you died at home you can stay there for a bit, do a home viewing, but i have no idea if someone can be TAKEN home.
    - in America it's widely mistakenly believed that you HAVE TO be embalmed. I'm glad people like Caitlin Doughty/Ask a Mortician are spreading the word that that's not true. It can be a beautiful thing in helping people accept the loss and say goodbye if a funeral has to be delayed, but I wish there could be a way where the chemicals weren't so hazardous to both the embalmer and the ground.

    My beloved Mum passed away on 28 November 2022 after a long battle against cancer. I had a beautiful ring made from gold with an inner band filled with coloured crushed opals, resin and some of her ashes ~ I chose purple for the opals and you can clearly see the ashes in the resin. I truly love it and plan to have a necklace & pendent made the same 💜

    My friend owner a body shop and when he died , he was taken to the cemetery on a rollback . Another was taken on an 18 wheeler , yes , he owned a trucking company. I actually met the 18 wheeler ; I didn't even pull over because I didn't realize it was a funeral profession until I was almost at the hospital of the line . Those last few vehicles are just people who unfortunately got behind it. I love the idea of being put out in the woods .❤

    Writing from Southeast Tennessee USA. My husband and I have arranged for our bodies to be donated to medical research. We have chosen a very reputable non-profit organization that works with major medical schools. Remains usually after one year are cremated and either returned to the family or the facility has an interment area. Every year there is a gathering for the families to honor their loved one. We both believe in the US each state has it's laws and the funeral home industry has a strong political lobby to make laws. Amazing in 2023 the industry requires you to spend $10,000 to $15,000++ to place a body in the ground to decay. Make it simple. Allow your body to be used for training and research. In closing.........love you both in what you are doing. The way you present is so easy to understand. LOL I've even ordered on of your tee shirts...

      Oh wow that's so very generous of you and your husband 💗 to give to others, so very special ❤️ yes it's very similar here in the University, cover the Cremation cost and have memorials every year. Oh my goodness how much 😲 that's so expensive and I think most people have to be embalmed in the USA that's another costly add on that's not needed with most bodies. 90% of my preparation are not embalmed.
      Wow hoo t-shirt 👕 yeah. We do hope the merch is good as we have had to source it out to an company as we could not keep up. We would love a photo to share on our Instagram if you are willing when your t-shirt arrived 😀 but no problem if you don't. Our email is areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.com

    Here in the US. I believe you have to be embalmed if taken home . I know you dont have to be embalmed but you cannot have a public viewing. But they do allow a short family viewing. I can remember when I was growing up they would take people home for visitation. I mean for a 3 day and night too lol. Now in most cases there is a 2 hour visitation before the funeral and that is it. Times and people have changed so much over the past few years. I remember when there was always at least a 2 night visitation even at the funeral home. Ive said if I pass away in the morning have me in the ground before the sunsets the same day if possible. And on that note have a wonderful weekend beautiful ladies.

    Hi there from over the ditch! Ive recently found your channel and found it interesting so I subscribed. 😁 Im a Māori girl, so Ive only ever known how we hold a tangi (funeral) as thats all I've ever been too. every tangi ive been too have either been held at home, where the body has been held for three maybe four days, then moved by the funeral directors or if it is at a Marae, the females carry the casket to the door then hand over to the males who then carry the tupapaku (deceased) to the car then we head to the burial site with everybody else following behind. Ive never not been to a funeral where the body hasnt been at home or with the family before burial. So its interesting to find out all this stuff.
    Love the videos ladies!

    In the USA, viewings are usually public, not just for family. It’s still very common to have a viewing either the night before the funeral, or a couple of hours before the funeral starts. Friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers arrive at the funeral home for the open casket viewing. While embalming is not required by law, most funeral homes will not allow a public viewing unless the family agrees to embalming.

    It’s sad here in the US there are no laws that say you have to be embalmed in most cases, but the funeral industry doesn’t inform the family. Here in my state we finally have one natural burial area. Sometimes they will even say you have to be embalmed before cremation. Luckily there is a big movement for the less chemicals the better. The first dead body I ever saw was my great grandfather who was laid in the drawing room until it was time for the burial. We normalized him being there. We did learn to be afraid of the dead guy in the other room. I wish there was more of that personal care and less chemicals these days. I’m glad you have that more available there.

    I don’t like the idea of being embalmed when my time comes, but I also want a viewing. I know that for me, it’s an important part of the grieving and acceptance process. I want others to have that opportunity if they choose.
    I’m in the US. We normally have a funeral within a week. So you’re saying the body is ok for viewing without embalming in that time, as long as my local laws allow it? And what does an unembalmed body look like compared to an embalmed one? I’ve never seen one that wasn’t embalmed.

    In the US each state has really different laws. For example, Louisiana allows 30 HOURS after death the body MUST be either embalmed or refrigerated. Hot plate? Cold plate? Both are unknown here, just say catering at a funeral home. We cremate: with no carcinogenic, toxic embalming fluid, going into the air or soil.

    Very good video good to see you all again I live in Kentucky in the US and for her usually if someone died like today the funeral would take place 2 or 3 days later and to have a public viewing the funeral home requires that you have to be embalmed for a viewing because the funeral home says that they have to be so that they can control what happens after death because it would look bad on them if the mouth came open during service for example..

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thank you for sharing ☺️
      But you don't need to be embalmed to keep the mouth closed. I don't embalm all my deceased mostly a natural preparation, during the preparation the mouth is suture closed so it won't open.
      Take care 😊💚

    Question: Yesterday I attended the funeral of a dear lady who fought cancer for 3 years. I expected to see her very thin, gaunt, etc but I wasn’t expecting to see this very fair skinned lady with what looked like a spray on tan. Can you think of a reason why her body was prepared this way? Also, when I walked into the church the casket was open. Before the service started, they closed it and opened it once more as we were exiting the church so people could say their last goodbyes. Why do you think they would have closed it then opened it again? Thank you both for this channel. I’ve learned so much.

      Hi, so very sorry of your loss 😔 cancer is an awful thing. Not sure why they made her skin darker than normal, most likely though it would look better 🤔

    Look up Tokut Subo syndrome, called broken heart syndrome. Where the surviving spouse/animal, dies of a broken heart missin their partner/ human.
    Another thing could be: first dies cremated, 2nd passes, holding the urn in the casket.

  • @karenj.5910
    @karenj.5910 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In the Jewish faith, there is no embalming. The casket has to be made from unfinished wood and pegged together. Basically there should be nothing to impede the return of the body to the earth. Also, the funeral should take place within 24-36 hours, unless the death occurs just before the Sabbath. There is no viewing. The person should be remembered as they were when they were alive. We do sit "shiva" for a week after the death. This is when friends and family come by to sit with the mourners. (I don't want to say survivors.) They bring food and pray with the family and share special memories. The community comes together for the family. It really is a blessing. My husband died very suddenly. I don't think I would have gotten through if i had had to wait days for a service. I was in shock for weeks. My friends helped me get through it.

    Now in the states, there is an increasing interest to have your cremated remains sprinkled in a forest. The forest is controlled in that there are pathways and square plots, and what you do is just sprinkle the cremains in that general area and somewhere along the path there is a metal sign that says the names and dates of the people that have been sprinkled there so if you want to kind of visit the loved one yeah you know exactly where to go so there’s no burial it’s just sprinkling and a lot of people are liking that because it’s right back into the Earth in the forest is lovely. It’s very lost a lovely.

    My dad passed in March of this year in New Jersey and we didn’t embalm him but we also did closed casket. however, it was 6 days from the day he died to the day of the wake and the funeral director let us know that under no circumstances would it be possible for us to open the casket, for any reason. I didn’t ask but I’m assuming he was kept in cold storage all those days in between death and service but still, I guess once he was out of storage and in the casket that he would be changing pretty quickly.

    I actually have familial ties to the Funeral industry through my Father and Grandfather who were professional grave diggers with Shovels, Picks, Pry Bars, and Wheelbarrows. Due to the cemeteries in our area, stand sized excavators are prohibited from use, because of the potential damage to the monuments , and the 19th century design of the cemeteries in the area. Officially, they would have been known as Sextons.

    Hmm...I know you're not working in a crematorium, but I wonder if you may have a clue on this. Or perhaps if you do another video with a cremator in the future, could you ask them?
    So I'm an archaeologist, I once worked in a field right next to a crematorium. Although they have huge filters, you could still smell a lot. And there were...how can I put it...different distinct flavours each time they were using the oven. 🙈I was wondering whether it was due to the materials of the coffin, or the state of the body (state of decay, embalmed or not etc), or whether some had been on strong medication.
    I must admit that I was not really feeling like eating my sandwiches at lunchtime, luckily I was only there for a couple of days.

    My only local "natural burial" cemetery only permits wicker caskets (no wood coffins), plants and other grave markers of any kind are not permitted, and visitors are not allowed at grave sites, just on the gravel trails. All those regulations for 2x the price of other cemeteries. No thanks.

    I clean my local church and that's one thing that I have noticed that the time between a person dying and the funeral is getting longer. When my mum died she was buried 10 days after she had died (October 2011) and now its 3/4+ weeks I'm not sure if its a Shropshire (England) thing or if its just naturally getting longer

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes in the UK it is becoming longer for a funeral to take place. I think it's down to the vast population of such a small island lots of people and probably not enough funeral companies to cope with it, that's just my opinion. Take care 💚

    What about the gas build up usually during embalming you use a trocar to aspirate above the naval, and into the cavity and sinceit would not be embalming wouldn’t the gases gurgling, sounds, etc. would you seal the mouth, nose, ears and eyes,? etc. etc.

    Why is embalming needed for above ground? No proper ventilation? It slows it down, but we will rot.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, embalm slows down and changes the process of decomposition. When embalmed the body it is dried out there for the body will decompose slowly into a more powder state over time without the awful smell of an un-embalmed body that will liquify and produce the gasses that you can smell. This is the reason the body needs to be embalmed in an above ground vault, so you won't smell the decomposition and liquid won't flow out of the vault. Thank you for your question take care 😊❤️

    Are there any rules in Australia. The funeral industry is full of unscrupulous operators. It's good that you ladies are telling us our rights. Bcos we are led to believe the funeral directors are following protocol, when in fact its not the case. The dishonesty is in the omission of info.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, unfortunately the Australian funeral industry is unregulated and there is no licensing system for funeral directors and/or embalmers. So anyone can open a funeral home making for some unscrupulous operations unfortunately 😞

    Would it affect the gas build up if the deceased had been without food for a day or so? I know with cancer patients they usually lose their appetite before death and alzheimer too, because they actually forget how to eat.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
