Your review single handedly sold me on this figure when I was more or less content with my Fans Toys version. I bought it at TFCon this weekend and it’s every bit as great as you said. Other than instructions being complete ass, especially in hotel room lighting. I said hi to you at the convention, I was the guy that said my son calls you Blurr.

When I spoke to Vangelus and That Toy Guy they roasted me in kind of an awesome way. Vangelus asked if he owed me money. Implying that I look like a guy that does “collections” or breaks thumbs. My wife and my daughter thought that was hilarious and we all had a good laugh about it.
Just got mine a few weeks back and I absolutely adore him! This review was one of the many I watched before officially making my purchase, and needless to say, I don’t regret it one bit, and this review in particular actually is pretty much my exact thoughts on this figure! The transformation, while a little complex due to it being a Masterpiece, especially when you are transforming it the first couple of times, it’s manageable, and I imagine that after a few more transformations, I can memorize it, something I really can’t say for MP-44, of which I have a 4th party one, and even MP-36, a figure of which I do adore! It is also just much easier to get a hand on, due in part to both the size of this figure, and the nature of Skyfire’s conversion simply being him folded and compressed in his cybertronian jet form, and not having to be a realistic earth vehicle or object, and as a result, needs no needless or unnecessary faux parts to make both modes look good, what you see in jet mode carries over to jet mode and so on! Also, the proportions are what I love about the cartoon design for Skyfire, because it’s unique, being a combination of spheres, semi-triangles and dynamic rectangles, giving a bulky yet slim and elegant physic! I also personally love the clean look of this toy, since it makes him look very cohesive and because of my autism, the way this figure is designed just tickles my fancy more than Phoenix or Seige Jetfire. I even don’t mind the face design much, in fact, I think it works for this figure in terms of its proportions, though I do understand where people are coming from, it just doesn’t bug me at all, and once again, I think the face sculpt works here! Also the mini figures are fun, and honestly, from what I’ve seen, are better than most of the recent human mini figures, especially since their gimmick with Skyfire does not involve partially untransforming the figure, just open one of the compartments, put them inside and bam, you’re done! Also he is an absolute steal, with the price being justified with the stuff he comes with, instead of being $600 instead of the accessories, at most, adding on $120! Overall, would love to see more masterpiece reviews from ya! And keep up the grind!

This figure is toon accuracy done right, where either mode isn’t compromised and kept at an appealing level (though I do admit that the jet mode is a little gappy, but I do still love the overall look lol), and is made more worthwhile by its accessories with play value, instead of being a reference to a single episode no one really cares about lol. And as you mentioned before, it’s sweet that all the accessories can be stored on the robot in some way with the blast effects still being able to be utilized in a display! Oh, and honestly, Skyfire really benefits from the lower parts count (besides having an obviously more reasonable price lol), as it gives him a less panely and cleaner look! In my head when it comes down to skyfire and jetfire, Jet Fire has a visor and mask like his G1 toy and armada counterpart, and skyfire has a normale face with eyes, or sometimes in this case i just pretend hes doing the superman thing where he takes off his glasses to be superman and puts them on to be clark kent
I grew up with sky fire just being a darn best. I remember where I was and how old I was when I saw the fate that sky fire met. I’m glad to see that I can have him with the autobots again.
Absolute god tier figure. Absolute massive boy. I don't think I'll get him (He's way too big for my room and I am a poor boy) but his presence is immense. I love that he comes with tiny Autobots. Normally I hate when MP figures come with mini figs but that because they're usually human characters I don't care about. I'm happy that you're so giddy about this. Lord knows you deserve it after how many times Hasbro and Takara give us figures that don't quite hit what we're looking for.
Sorry to hear that, but Understandable. Yeah it's funny how much Tiny Humans is not a Selling point but Tiny Autobots is. It's nice that they seem to be getting back to form.
Man skyfire (or jetfire) has always been my favorite Autobot ever and this figure is really neat. Sometimes I forget that he used to be a massive copyright nightmare for hasbro (using the valkyrie from macross) but aside from that, this seems like a great figure to figure to get myself Great review PE!
Wow, after seeing the product photography I did not think we would see such a radiantly glowing review. At first I was on the edge, but you make a ton of very good points. If they come out with tiny decepticons too, I could turn him into a walking battlefield. Like a Shadow of the Colossus game.

I've wanted a quality Skyfire since I was 5 years old. Hell, I wished on stars for such a thing, but have never been able to get my hands on the ones that came close to matching the animation model! I'm getting this freaking thing one way or another!

I got myself a 3rd party Jetfire that is basically large voyager sized, because I wanted one with a scale similar to IDW and Fall of Cybetron, but I see how a titanic Jetfire/Skyfire would appeal to others more, and this looks amazing.
I personally don't collect Masterpiece Transformers figures. So I'm fine with the Commander Class Jetfire from Siege. But glad that you enjoy this work of art, and according to mini Wheeljack, Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Takaratomy, titan scale Skyfire.

Thank you man. And the difference between me and that, is Skyfire is worth being Giddy about. Sure the 1911 is the Pistol that all other Pistols since were based on, but it's not good any more. Skyfire is great now.
So now that Giant!Skyfire is considered canon, this means that Starscream was once friends with a scientist who's basically the Goliath to EVERYONE, necessitating the act of flying up to his eye-level just to have a casual conversation.
Actually, Skyfire is NOT Titan sized. Those included mini figures of Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Wheeljack are for scaling with Skyfire's Cybertronian Jet alt mode, not his robot mode. The robot modes of the MP versions of Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Wheeljack scale appropriately with Skyfire just as they did in the G1 cartoon. Skyfire was never Titan sized in the G1 cartoon. Starscream is about as tall as Skyfire's waist line.
I've always imagined Skyfire as more like combiner size so definitely not normal but not absolutely massive either. The scale with the mini-figures does look good though.

I think the blank chest piece is there because they want to give the option of having "just unfrozen skyfire/jetfire" so you could have your Starscream and Megatron examining him.
This looks so good. I was worried that it might have loose joints. I'm considering picking this and Trailbreaker up. When I can afford them. I'd love to see you review the MP Trailbreaker though. I've heard good things about it. Oh, just one thing, the analogy about the grip being akin to a depressed ant is misleading considering how strong they are XD

Yes, yes, finally an absolute yes! Was there another madman on the planet, like me, who once looked at Skyfire and thought: "Yes, he should be bigger!"? The most beautiful figure of Skyfire, even his faces do not spoil the overall look. And most importantly - SKYFIRE! No Jetfires, enough of that name, it's not his name! Finally, at least Takara recognized his true name.
I think this could go both ways, but I think the little figures may be scaled for the mass-shifted vehicle mode, mabye the robot mode is scaled for other MP figures, but I don’t think it really matters. Great review Perspective

So when jetfire/sky fire is in jet mode, the mini figures are ment to scale with that mode, like the cartoon, but in robot mode it’s like he has mass shifted into becoming a smaller robot (not physically in figure form but mabye the way it was intended) like the cartoon, so I guess the robot mode is for scale with larger more figures, but the vehicle mode has mass-shifted into becoming larger hence the smaller figure.

So we don't have an official MP Jazz, yet we're getting a mini-figure of him that comes with another figure. Well, I guess that was also the case for that mini boom box Blaster that came with MP Tracks
Sky fire is both titan scale and commander scale in the show, depending on the episode and frame. He was small enough to get into one on one combat with megatron and starscream but also flew around the autobots inside himself and transformed without mass shifting. For me, characters like sky lynx and jetfire could go for either commander or titan scale
Yep. I'd even argue that the Minifigures are just scaled for the vehicle mode and not the robot mode as this guy does an insane around of mass shifting

LOL :D Jokes aside, Masterpiece Jetfire looks as though he holds the title of best MP figure ever made, it even puts the Siege figure to same by being as tall as a Titan class combiner. Keep on being amazing.
I don't know that I'd go so far as to make any of those claims as of yet. MP Soundwave still puts up a Stiff Competition against this for title of Best MP. And I will say a lot of my joy at this thing, was it appealing to my Subjective desires, even to the Figures Objective Detriment. So just because I was so in love does not mean that it's because it's that OBJECTIVELY good.
I got mine today and found that to get a stronger connection with the magnet on the face and mask you need to remove his face a put the mask on without it. It helps with the grip of a dead man that magnet has with his face on so just become bayvers pime an take his face
Funny how you were super negative in the las video and this one is pure love towards this figure, quite rare for your channel but still great to see you are not the hater a lot of people claim you are, just really exigent and critical
I will always say that I'm not a Hater, but I'm not a Lover either. You have to make something good for me to say it's good. Though to be fair, I can still love a bad thing. Though this isn't bad, though it has bad qualities that I still love. Like the waist.
The accessories could also be stored in the backpack as well! Takara really is the OG. Altho they made some bad MPs throughout the years you can still see their experience and craftsmanship shine through the details of their figures. And I say this as someone who owns a lot of third party and loves them
The funny thing is though, I don't think they are the most Experienced at this point. Companies like MMC, XTB, and even Fanstoys, have over all put out more MP type figures each. And yes they can be stored in there, but that whole thing does have to open up for transformation. There isn't a slot for them in there.
@@PerspectiveEnd No yeah I agree takara isn't the most experienced overall at this point. It's weird that the official can't even beat illegal third parties A LOT OF times. There really is no reason the way takara's materials and tolerances have become so wonky. I'm saying Takara has the most attention to details in the designs. To name a few: 1. sculpting inside parts you only see during transformation; 2. intuitive and user-friendly transformation (altho the materials...); 3. most MP headsculpts, altho may not be aesthetically pleasing, does put life into the characters (where as you said some FT faces are soulless despite being accurate); 4. Takara has some weird insistence on car accuracy, a double edged sword really. Like the windshield wipers on MP trailbreaker hiding away to achieve both cartoon robot & "realistic" car accuracy. Or insisting on making Prime and Bumblebee with not only opening doors but also space for minifigures. I suspect it's a tradition passed down from their alternators line Takara's designers have some weird professional OCD when it comes to certain details that they would compromise a lot of other things to get it. I'm just pointing it out since a lot of people overlook it. However, I'm not saying the attention to details by Takara is worth a lot to most collectors, the reason why I chose a lot of 3rd party figures over the official counterparts
It's amazing to see that masterpiece is making a comeback! I only have a KO MP Hotrod, but I may try to start collecting soon if they keep up the quality. Let's hope they make some good Beast Wars ones too! It's nice to see you so pleased with a Takara figure for once lol
His ratchets do tend to break but both times(on mine and my friends) have been fixable at least. My only complaint is the extremely wide ratchets and not being able to get his feet flat in most positions but he really is awesome
@@PerspectiveEnd the leg hip ratchets must’ve been loose on the screw so the ratchet popped out away from itself and I had to take the leg off and tighten it back in but I was able to fix it but my friend had the same happen to his foot ratchet as well and some people from Fb also had their legs explode off of the ratchet but not sure if they were able to fix it. Man I wish you had an Instagram so I could DM you pics and videos 😅
This figure can "fake" an ab crunch from what I've seen. I like the MP's face a lot too. It looks kinda dorky, and that's fine for Skyfire. There's a charm to the dorkiness that the Fanstoys version fails to capture.
Someone else mentioned that, and yeah, with the Special leg joint that is something you can do. I wouldn't say that I like it a lot, but it definitely captures the character a lot better than the FT one for sure.
I think Jetfire or skyfire mass shifts when he becomes the jet mode, and the little figures are supposed to reflect that, but otherwise he is supposed to be a somewhere between a combiner and grimlock in robot mode.
See there's a few shots where that becomes a problem. Like the time in the FIRST episode he's in, where only his head can fit in a cave that fits all the Autobots and Decepticons just fine.

He definitely transforms into a jet big enough to carry other transformers later in the series, but that first episode shows Megatron and Optimus up to about nipple height on skyfire. Nonetheless, this figure with the accessories can fit either scenario.

Oh, and honestly, Skyfire really benefits from the lower parts count (besides having an obviously more reasonable price lol), as it gives him a less panely and cleaner look! In my head when it comes down to skyfire and jetfire, Jet Fire has a visor and mask like his G1 toy and armada counterpart, and skyfire has a normale face with eyes, or sometimes in this case i just pretend hes doing the superman thing where he takes off his glasses to be superman and puts them on to be clark kent

Normally I hate when MP figures come with mini figs but that because they're usually human characters I don't care about.

Man skyfire (or jetfire) has always been my favorite Autobot ever and this figure is really neat. Sometimes I forget that he used to be a massive copyright nightmare for hasbro (using the valkyrie from macross) but aside from that, this seems like a great figure to figure to get myself

Wow, after seeing the product photography I did not think we would see such a radiantly glowing review. At first I was on the edge, but you make a ton of very good points. If they come out with tiny decepticons too, I could turn him into a walking battlefield. Like a Shadow of the Colossus game.

I've wanted a quality Skyfire since I was 5 years old. Hell, I wished on stars for such a thing, but have never been able to get my hands on the ones that came close to matching the animation model! I'm getting this freaking thing one way or another!
The Siege one was great. There are a Couple Really Accurate legends ones from MS and NewAge, But none of those have the Bibness.

I just recently received my Siege Jetfire (re-issue) from BBTS and I know I'm kind of late for that figure but I'm so happy to finally have a copy of it that I barely remember any other figure that have brought me so much joy like this one... I've been pretty happy before, but this time it was a little extreme.
So now that Giant!Skyfire is considered canon, this means that Starscream was once friends with a scientist who's basically the Goliath to EVERYONE, necessitating the act of flying up to his eye-level just to have a casual conversation.
Actually, Skyfire is NOT Titan sized. Those included mini figures of Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Wheeljack are for scaling with Skyfire's Cybertronian Jet alt mode, not his robot mode. The robot modes of the MP versions of Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Wheeljack scale appropriately with Skyfire just as they did in the G1 cartoon. Skyfire was never Titan sized in the G1 cartoon. Starscream is about as tall as Skyfire's waist line.

I can only imagine how funny it is to see Optimus commanding Skyfire when he's 10x bigger than him. Also he could stomp on the Decepticons.

I think this could go both ways, but I think the little figures may be scaled for the mass-shifted vehicle mode, mabye the robot mode is scaled for other MP figures, but I don’t think it really matters. Great review Perspective

So when jetfire/sky fire is in jet mode, the mini figures are ment to scale with that mode, like the cartoon, but in robot mode it’s like he has mass shifted into becoming a smaller robot (not physically in figure form but mabye the way it was intended) like the cartoon, so I guess the robot mode is for scale with larger more figures, but the vehicle mode has mass-shifted into becoming larger hence the smaller figure.

Sky fire is both titan scale and commander scale in the show, depending on the episode and frame. He was small enough to get into one on one combat with megatron and starscream but also flew around the autobots inside himself and transformed without mass shifting. For me, characters like sky lynx and jetfire could go for either commander or titan scale

I don't know that I'd go so far as to make any of those claims as of yet. MP Soundwave still puts up a Stiff Competition against this for title of Best MP.
And I will say a lot of my joy at this thing, was it appealing to my Subjective desires, even to the Figures Objective Detriment. So just because I was so in love does not mean that it's because it's that OBJECTIVELY good.

I got mine today and found that to get a stronger connection with the magnet on the face and mask you need to remove his face a put the mask on without it. It helps with the grip of a dead man that magnet has with his face on so just become bayvers pime an take his face

Funny how you were super negative in the las video and this one is pure love towards this figure, quite rare for your channel but still great to see you are not the hater a lot of people claim you are, just really exigent and critical
I will always say that I'm not a Hater, but I'm not a Lover either. You have to make something good for me to say it's good. Though to be fair, I can still love a bad thing. Though this isn't bad, though it has bad qualities that I still love. Like the waist.

Takara really is the OG. Altho they made some bad MPs throughout the years you can still see their experience and craftsmanship shine through the details of their figures. And I say this as someone who owns a lot of third party and loves them
The funny thing is though, I don't think they are the most Experienced at this point. Companies like MMC, XTB, and even Fanstoys, have over all put out more MP type figures each.
And yes they can be stored in there, but that whole thing does have to open up for transformation. There isn't a slot for them in there.
@@PerspectiveEnd No yeah I agree takara isn't the most experienced overall at this point. It's weird that the official can't even beat illegal third parties A LOT OF times. There really is no reason the way takara's materials and tolerances have become so wonky.
I'm saying Takara has the most attention to details in the designs. To name a few:
1. sculpting inside parts you only see during transformation;
2. intuitive and user-friendly transformation (altho the materials...);
3. most MP headsculpts, altho may not be aesthetically pleasing, does put life into the characters (where as you said some FT faces are soulless despite being accurate);
4. Takara has some weird insistence on car accuracy, a double edged sword really. Like the windshield wipers on MP trailbreaker hiding away to achieve both cartoon robot & "realistic" car accuracy. Or insisting on making Prime and Bumblebee with not only opening doors but also space for minifigures. I suspect it's a tradition passed down from their alternators line
Takara's designers have some weird professional OCD when it comes to certain details that they would compromise a lot of other things to get it. I'm just pointing it out since a lot of people overlook it. However, I'm not saying the attention to details by Takara is worth a lot to most collectors, the reason why I chose a lot of 3rd party figures over the official counterparts
It's amazing to see that masterpiece is making a comeback! I only have a KO MP Hotrod, but I may try to start collecting soon if they keep up the quality. Let's hope they make some good Beast Wars ones too! It's nice to see you so pleased with a Takara figure for once lol

His ratchets do tend to break but both times(on mine and my friends) have been fixable at least. My only complaint is the extremely wide ratchets and not being able to get his feet flat in most positions but he really is awesome

@@PerspectiveEnd the leg hip ratchets must’ve been loose on the screw so the ratchet popped out away from itself and I had to take the leg off and tighten it back in but I was able to fix it but my friend had the same happen to his foot ratchet as well and some people from Fb also had their legs explode off of the ratchet but not sure if they were able to fix it. Man I wish you had an Instagram so I could DM you pics and videos 😅

This figure can "fake" an ab crunch from what I've seen.
I like the MP's face a lot too. It looks kinda dorky, and that's fine for Skyfire. There's a charm to the dorkiness that the Fanstoys version fails to capture.
Someone else mentioned that, and yeah, with the Special leg joint that is something you can do.
I wouldn't say that I like it a lot, but it definitely captures the character a lot better than the FT one for sure.
I think Jetfire or skyfire mass shifts when he becomes the jet mode, and the little figures are supposed to reflect that, but otherwise he is supposed to be a somewhere between a combiner and grimlock in robot mode.
See there's a few shots where that becomes a problem. Like the time in the FIRST episode he's in, where only his head can fit in a cave that fits all the Autobots and Decepticons just fine.
@@PerspectiveEnd I researched fire in the sky and I didn't see him look that large. He definitely transforms into a jet big enough to carry other transformers later in the series, but that first episode shows Megatron and Optimus up to about nipple height on skyfire.
Nonetheless, this figure with the accessories can fit either scenario.
