Hi! Just discovered your channel. Nice to see a women doing Bonsai. But one question: Why put a drainage screen on top of a drainage screen? You just decrease your drainage by putting a mash on a mash. You have a really nice greenhouse some pretty nice trees. Forest are a lot of work in the beginning but you have success very fast. You did a good job on arranging. My only critic is that the distances between the individual trees are quite similar. However i am looking forward to updates of this planting. Have fun doing Bonsai, it's no competition! Greetings from Germany.

Hi Basti, thank you for taking the time to comment 😊 Yes, my internal debate about the drainage screen was along the lines of "Do it!" "Don't do it!" "DO IT!!" 😁
I found spacing the trees a real challenge, my brain kept trying to even the distances, I'm impressed the aren't all in a row along the centre line 😂 I hope you'll take a moment to watch my other Bonsai videos which explain my Bonsai journey since the mid 1980's. Thanks again for watching and commenting xx

I like the comment "this is my forest, no one elses". When researching for the care of a new tree for example, I often feel like there's only that ONE way that you HAVE to go and any other style is wrong. I style my bonsai how I want to, they're my trees after all.
I feel like that's some important advice to give, thanks. :)

Thank you Karliah, I really appreciate that. I think it's important to remember that Bonsai should be a pleasure, not a torment 😊 Thank you for taking the time to comment (and hopefully subscribe too) xx

Just found your channel Becki. I've been watching Nigel Saunders for several months now, along with Peter Chan and a few others. I have been interested in Bonsai for years, but haven't had the space/time/money/etc excuses. Just now starting the dive into doing Bonsai myself this season. I'd love to see more Bonsai from you in the future! I'll be staying tuned for sure.

I got virtually the same pot and trees from ebay! My forest is growing fast strong. Would love to see an update of your spruce forest to compare, and future care. Mines about 18 months old now. It does dry out quite fast as the pot is so shallow.
I also did a Beech, field maple and larch. Larch are lovely ones to make into forests.

How lovely! Yes larch are beautiful, I love the textured bark and the way the buds break in Spring 😍 I've got lots of bonsai videos planned for Autumn, I'm looking forward to building my Bonsai playlist xx

I am usually not sensitive but that thick white larvea was gross 😆. Thanks for sharing and I also liked and subbed!
