+IcingOnTheRing Check out this "Here's Lucy" episode titled "Lucy Meets the Burtons". Its from 1970. Lucy gets the ring stuck on her hand. The actual ring was used in the episode. The audience gasp is audible when the ring is shown for the first time. www.hulu.com/watch/370444
For him it was more expensive anyway they played him he lost at the auction to Cartier then went back the next day gave them $100,000 more than what they paid plus unlimited free publicity thru Taylor wearing it and name dropping their brand, good deal many could of paid $1,000,000+ but no one had the publicity power to promote Cartier as Liz Taylor at the time.
I LOVE THIS DIAMOND!!!!! I love Elizabeth Taylor and I have a 50 carat pear-shaped cz ring I bought to come close to this diamond. I also have a replica of the Krupp Diamond ring that I bought from QVC 2 years ago. It is gorgeous!!!! That ring is from the Elizabeth Taylor jewelry collection on QVC and is called the Elizabeth Taylor diamond now.
She sold the Taylor-Burton in 1978, the proceeds went to help build a hospital in Botswana. It cost about $1.1 million when Burton bought it. It had been in an auction he was bidding in, but Cartier outbid him. He called them up within a few days and struck a deal with them. I think they made around $100K profit selling it to Burton? It was displayed at a few different Cartier stores before the Burtons took possession of it. If you account for inflation, $1.1 million in 1969 is about $7.5 million today (!!)
+ragemanchoo82 I have read in many places that she did sell the stone and that the hospital in Botswana was in fact funded by the sale of the stone. In online articles, biographies and videos.
obviously rich people do not hang out in the same place as normal people and have security officers! If you can afford a ring like that you can eat and hang out at the finest places!
@holicat098 -- If your brand of Christianity means judging a woman who helped millions through her tireless charity work, then I'll gladly follow Miss Taylor. I'll pray for your warped soul.
Fake jewels are every bit as beautiful and they can be easily replaced if they are lost and nobody is going to kill you for it. So nah........I wouldn't want that......Except maybe to exchange it for the money.
Her kids auctioned most of the jewelry away. Liz donated and got millions in donations for the AIDS fund. She really did give back. Lots if her diamonds were gifts. Yiu cant die with money either so why not spend it?!
E simplesmente deslumbrante.Eu sou fanatica por diamantes.
Believe me she did a lot for people starving people, and people with aids. And when she died all of her jewelry was auctioned off and proceeds given to charity. Thank you very much.
It WAS sold to finance John Warner's political career. I've read it in several books. She and Richard Burton bought a 10 carat PINK diamond that they resold to build the hospitals in Africa after their 2nd marriage.
The most beautiful woman in the world!
The size of the Taylor/Burton ring is astounding and the way the lights reflected off it was reminiscent of looking into the sun.

the stars in the night sky paled in comparison to the sparkle of that diamond.
Finally it's rare to see a full footage of that ring. Thanks
Incredible! Her beauty was so astounding that only she could wear this while wearing casual clothes. She was so unique. Like that diamond.
thanks for posting this video - it made my day seeing that diamond! Astonishing!
Gosh, that diamond was one HUGE rock
oh my gosh
sorry but I'm just speechless
at the beauty of that ring
Burton: "What it means it's the most expensive diamond in the world, that's what it means" : )
He wasn't playing around
For him it was more expensive anyway they played him he lost at the auction to Cartier then went back the next day gave them $100,000 more than what they paid plus unlimited free publicity thru Taylor wearing it and name dropping their brand, good deal many could of paid $1,000,000+ but no one had the publicity power to promote Cartier as Liz Taylor at the time.
EVERY TIME I SEE THE TAYLOR BURTON DIAMOND MY FACE; ;OOOOOOOOOOO

George Long i think a 50 carat ring is very heavy.
How was the mounting of the 32 carat Elizabeth Taylor diamond replica? Did it tarnished by now?
beautiful ❤️
I love 💘 you ❤ Elizabeth

+ragemanchoo82 What I read is that she said so but actually did not do it.
+Robin Reed That she didn't actually sell the stone???
+ragemanchoo82 I have read in many places that she did sell the stone and that the hospital in Botswana was in fact funded by the sale of the stone. In online articles, biographies and videos.
It's beautiful to look at, but where would you wear that? I would be robbed in one second
I red that she hosted an auction for The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and she sold that ring.

Wasn't for her 40th birthday.
BURTON purchased the Cartier Diamond in 1969, a good 2 & half year before her 40th.
You are right!!!! I was going to correct this by my comment, but then I saw you already did.
Rip ms taylor
NOW I KNOW WHAT GOLLUM FEL"!... MY PRECIOUS!!😉💍💍
@misteeq64 No she did not sale it She sold the necklace he bought her which was even larger.
I'm so sad she doesnt have it anymore cus it was a gift really from her husband
woah gimme gimme!
rawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
thats diamond
Elizabeth joked around with the big diamond on Here's Lucy with Lucille Ball getting it stuck on her finger. 1970?
I thought it is a perfect D-flawless diamond but it is not. Even the Elizabeth Taylor diamond has a VS1 clarity grade.
😍😍😍
@ :44 someone let me know when u can snag this ,, its a stunner but so IS THE COUPLE NO CLASS LIKE THAT
That ring makes the rest of the world look ugly
Sam Miro --- Who is narrating this? I know that voice. He has a show on PBS but I can't remember its name.
ragemanchoo82 Burt Wolf, the travel guide on PBS

It's smart to "not want" what you will NEVER have! "fake" is NEVER as beautiful as real, unless the "real" is OLD and BEAT UP!
joan Jones cubic zirconia can be just as beautiful as the real thing
Is anyone able to confirm if she still has the ring?
im sure she took it all with her when she died . how ridiculous it is to own such frivolities..

@@ellemathews9840 Some need to retire.
these people have way too much money
M ring
Elizabeth's ring is obscene. I like her engagement ring a lot more. Personally, I'm not a fan of the tear shaped diamonds.
I love pear-shaped diamonds and I have a 50-carat pear- shaped cz ring I love.
E simplesmente deslumbrante.Eu sou fanatica por diamantes.
Got dam!!! What a f**king ring. Do you know how many starving women and children 👶🏽 can eat for what that Diamond 💎 cost???
Believe me she did a lot for people starving people, and people with aids. And when she died all of her jewelry was auctioned off and proceeds given to charity. Thank you very much.
Nigga shut up
Such a pity it was sold to finance John Warners political career.
RIDICULOUS! You cannot be that ignorant.

tacky tacky tacky tacky tacky
You wish you could afford a diamond that big
I believe she did say to Princesse Grace that it was gothy at a formal dinner party.
The most beautiful woman in the world!
