I was so excited to see the walls going up. I hope you will enlist help for the roof if you need it. You are doing an amazing job You deserve a Samcraft sign for your new building. Sam I have a shed from T111 and it still looks like new after 30 years.
You did well with that house wrap by yourself. Anytime I want it to get windy...I always grab a 9x300' roll of house wrap. Lol.
Not sure where you're located or if you even have inspections, but in many / most localities t1-11 siding is not "code" for corner bracing for that large of a structure (hint - use steel strap diagonal bracing in the wall corners and then install the siding). Corner bracing should continue through the top plate. Location would determine which code is followed.
The hammer tacker is a life saver (and hand saver) on house wrap and poly! Looks like you're rocking along. A little hint, if you can, use your truck bed for a mobile work platform. It's great to get you height to work and it's a very good, stable platform to set up a ladder for extra height. You can park it alongside or back it up to the wall.

Nice job. I used the LP SmartSide but without the reflective covering on the inside (I don't think it was available then) 9 years ago when I built a 36' x 32' garage. It looks just like the day we put it up and painted it. Very pleased with it. It has stood up to hail storms, thunder storms and blizzards without a mark on it.

The radiant barrier definitely helps for heating and cooling , but a trade off at least at my home is that it effects TV,radio and cellphone signals. It acts like a faraday cage.

Ok I haven't seen the wrap that goes directly on the studs only the kind that goes over the plywood.
This would be a perfect time to spray paint the walls on the outside,should only take a couple hours with an airless sprayer no taping anything would make it easier

Good to be picky, I had a said contractor not picky enough putting our siding like that up and it created issues, needless to say noticeable until fixed. They used nails on ours that started popping out all over my near 4,000 square foot house, what alot of work fixing that. I'm real pick too so, it now looks nice after i spent a summer fixing it.
Most manufactured homes use this siding, it is very robust and keeps the weight down as well.

😂 My friend you have developed a technique that will help me on my next built. Yes, just like you I would love to acquire land and build a shop on it for my t shirt shop. The technique I'm talking about is you staple on top. Then you go to the bottom last.❤ Love it smart.🎉🎉🎉🎉

Kick'n butt, sir! We couldn't get away with that up here in Yankee territory. Smart to wrap it the way you did. Here in the North we have to wrap it on the inside.
Looking great Sam! That is the siding we have on our garage and home as well and it has held up for over 30 years now. A good proper paint job will do wonders as well to keep it fresh and new looking over the years. Excited for you to get in and start doing your jobs. Excited to see that process more as well. Still using my wood products I got from Samscraft and they are awesome and using the little multi colored bowl for snacks on the table while watching tv etc.......excellent are all the products I've gotten from you and Angela. Now you both will have your work shops and there will be no stopping you. Great Job! Great video. Blessing for a wonderful Holiday for all of you!

I did 3' tar paper on an 8 x 12 shed by myself and had a much harder time with it than you did with this 9' roll!!
Recommanded your video today to someone I know, he built a storage tub shelf for me and he is as thourely as you are. We talked about how you squared up your building. Hope he will follow you. Can't wait to see the finish of this building.

You should tack the siding on with the screws and then nail it off when you have the panels where you want them.

Well you made the vapor barrier single handedly look easy 😊. Nice tips for any ypu hung it tne way you do. I'm going to be doing alot of what I can with my son my next tiny home and get excited for all tbe TIPS and knowledge on why things are done in a particular way. Alot of sights you sit and wonder, they don't explain.

Looks good Sam. Have you thought about what you are going to do on the in side walls or ceiling? Just wondering. How about lasers. Are you going to get more or just keep the ones you have. I think eventually you will need to upgrade one just for speed alone. Are you going to put your cnc in the shop. I have been missing those videos also. Keep up the hard work 😃

by not using the siding from top plate to bottom plate. all your hardwork and then you blow it. best use 9ft to catch the rim board all the way top plate, helps stop the side to side racking.
Will having your insulation up against the plastic wrap cause it it sweat or get moist to the point of mold setting in?

Best to have hung 9' panels despite any cost increase. They would have tied the walls firmly to the rim joists. I hope for your sake the county doesnt require inspections.

Looks good and I’m amazed that a man of your size moves like a cat, or at least like a much younger man when I was your age I weighed in at a hefty 297. After many years my legs and heart said slow down or die. I started on a sensible diet and within 2 years I was at 200 lbs. and my legs and heart said thank you.
I’ve been at this weight and a little heavier but I’m on my next journey to 170-175. I’m now 82 and I know I can attain this new goal and hopefully get to my next age goal of 94-95. I never would have made it to this age and playing golf twice a week plus exercising twice weekly if I hadn’t started loosing weight.
I’d like to see you live as long as me.
Looks great Sam! If you haven’t already purchased your insulation, consider Rockwool. The cost is way more but it is a great insulator! I used it on my shop here in Virginia and in the summer months I don’t have to use the air conditioning until it gets really hot. The same applies in the winter. Your initial cost is more but in a long run the utility costs are a lot less.

I’m still in the process of watching this series, but would you say that (except for the siding method) this process would be just as good for a cabin/off grid house as it would be for this workshop?

I would have ran the siding panels at the bottom of the rim band. As is, you do not have much stud to top plate to tie together with your sheathing. As is, the trusses are anchored to the top plate by the brackets, and the top plate isn't anchored very well.
The LP smart panel is a good product. I have it on a 2 car garage on my property and will use it again. Hope your tractor lifts high enough to place the trusses or are you renting a bucket lift ?
I understand this is just a shop and not a house, but I have never seen house wrap go up before plywood siding.

Seeing the walls go up is a milestone. If I may ask how do you plan on getting trusses up to the top. Will the company bring a crane to help with these? You are a testament to hard work and I admire that about you and Angela and you are already instilling it into the boys. Great work Sam
They'll get carried inside and picked up into place one by one.. by me. :) Each truss is not that heavy, maybe 80 lbs. max.

that type of siding might work on youre mobile home too
as for the housewrap , not sure if its needed but theres another stapletool that put a small round plastic piece under the staple preventing the staple from tearing through the housewrap , think i seen diy different use it before its a little more cumbersome to use but should help the housewrap stay on place during windy conditions untill you slap the siding over it
as for using a bottom to place the panels on , maibe use a piece of known straight metal angle ,
either that use use round pucks that you put on the bottom using a level to get them right , the round pucks only have a small contact surface for the panel to rest on so its less likely to seesaw or wobble on a high spot or a slanted placed piece of wood block if you use two under each panel and can be eazily made with a holesaw , takes a bit more work to level tham acros the whole length of the shop though
Well dang! You made that look so easy. Hubby and I struggled with the half rolls of tyvek lol and I guess that composite T1-11 is way lighter than the one we used, or your just a super hero 😂😂. Anyway I guess we know what we're using on our new chicken coop. Great job as always
It's at least half the weight of the T1-11! I'll never use the other stuff if I can help it. :)
@@Samcraftcom we looked at it for the house, but decided we wanted the extra strength and weight of the 3/4 plywood T1-11. But for our buildings, I'd would totally use it.

I have that same stapler, it works great but I have a terrible aim :)
If you don’t have one now consider getting a paint sprayer to paint your workshop. Painting with a roller and a brush is a giant pain in the butt as the wood grain pattern tends to leave open voids even though you believe you did a great job.
Are you going to use a crane to set each roof truss? If not it may be hard to load them on one side and slide in place with the ties already in place.
How thick Is that LP sheathing? 3/8? Thanks for this series!
When you get done will you tell viewers a total on how much it cost to build?
Curious, why didnt you put the t111 over the rim joist? It helps lock the walls to the floor and you have a gap on top anyways, so you have to use z strip flashing to fill in.

This tiny shop build has become a career. Those piers will have rotted by the time you push the on button of your laser engraver.
