On your trim boards, my neighbor was a 40 years carpenter building houses. He told me he liked the trim boards on the exterior as you did yours and your first diagram for interior. And when he said he liked it one way or another he really meant do it my way or dont do it at all.
Don’t forget drip cap if the overhang isn’t close like that or on gable ends. Also could run the bottom sil trim board thru a table saw set w a bevel for a diy drip edge
How much do you love that tractor. It helps you in ways you would never imagine. I have a compact tractor also and i love it every time i use it. I'm very happy for you guys. Thanks for every thing you do.
I am in love with those GRK cabinet screws! Just used them for the first time installing my kitchen cabinets, I am now envisioning all kinds of other uses for them (and you just gave me another one!).
The 'Old Fashioned' way to fit the top trim on the window is to have the top board overhang a few inches on both sides of the verticals, maybe cut a small (1-2 inch) diagonal on the bottom corners or use a jigsaw to cut the ends in an 'S' if you want to be extra fancy. Water does not like to flow uphill (although wind can blow it into all sorts of interesting places) so a tiny notch (like a knife cut) in the underside of the overhang will make the water drip from there rather than try to run along the bottom edge and find its way inside.
Very nice. Just watched every video to this point. Was just looking for pier info and got hooked on your entire build. You should be proud. Real nice shop. Congratulations
great video Sam. At about minute 14:20 you were showing your completed trim job, but shop adjacent doesn't have the windows trimmed out. Please trim them out thanks
As awlasy, everything looks great. If someone wanted to not have the 'sloped' trim, they could always just a table saw, and slightly notch one side to whatever thickness they need to account for the window flanges. And it looks like you need some more trim for your other building, looks kinda weird to have that one with nice trim, and the other with exposed window flanges, lol. (That's what it looks like at the start of the 'fly-by' ending scene anyway). We've used those style windows before, and they are definitely easier to work with than others I've seen installed on new construction.
Windows Look Good , Nice Job. always look forward to next video. I think its finishing the roof? Any Gutters in the plans? Don't tell me I want to be surprised! yes, it was nice to see your lovely assistant.
Code here (not for sheds tho) would need one more square of flashing in the bottom corners to cover the seam where you cut in. Nice job so far! Did you already close in the gable ends?
You have inspired me to replace the windows on my workshop. The previous owner installed windows backwards!! No idea why. The screens are on the inside. 🤣
Nice window install, plenty of light. Noticed screens are not full anymore only half. Will you do a mini split for the workshop? Recall how hot it gets there, or will ceiling fans & exhaust fans do the job?
Great video, I’m having trouble finding windows that can mount over the siding and have the 1x4 trim sit flush with the windows. I can’t seem to find the ones used in this video. Any recommendations? Thanks
Thank you for your video! Wondering how crucial it is to have trim flush with the flange? I attached my window using torx screws but didn’t want to strip out the pre drilled holes so some of the screw heads are sticking out a tad. Would it be ok to just shim the back of the trim to make it flush with the front of the window?
Sam I have been enjoying your build and especially seeing your son helping you, you are a wonderful parent teaching your son to do physical things and learn a skill! Seeing him operate the tractor and you trusting him to lift you in the basket is great! I do have a question on the Windows install. Are they Windows Home or Windows professional? 🤣🛫
I know its just a work shop but im kind of surprised you didn't throw flashing tape along the outside of the nailing flange. Otherwise, looks good man.
Other than the roof sheathing you are done outside, right? So, unless the metal roofing shows up, are you doing interior wiring or insulation? You are going to have a really nice workshop when you're done.
This is not meant in a negative way, but when you first mentioned attaching your windows, you talked about nailing them. I thought, that's different, because I've always seen people screwing them on. However, when you actually went to attach them, you did screw them on. So my point is for making a tutorial on insulation of windows, you may want to clarify using screws from the beginning. Just thought I would mention it hopefully to help others in any other confusion type issues.
Roses are red, violets are blue, Sam installed his window, woo-hoo! Sorry, but after your I spy rhyme and, "chalk and paint make me the carpenter I ain't " I couldn't help myself, I like a rhyme anytime😊
looking good Sam, but I hope mo one does the wrap the way you're showing. Where you cut, instead of using the flexibility and stretching ability of the seal tape is just a pnother place for water and moisture to get in and cause yourself huge problems.
i head the saying about Welding..A Grinder & Paint makes you the welder u Aint.. ive never head the carpenter one b for some how...ben in the trades about all my Life to ..!

Sounds about right. LOL :)
Sam ….sure makes a big difference with the windows installed! Its going to be nice to be all dried in before the big rains come!
Plenty of room for windows to do their window stuff!?!?!? I love it.
Oh and nice work!
That looks NICE. 😂 winter 😆 Can’t wait to see how you lay it out.
Don’t forget drip cap if the overhang isn’t close like that or on gable ends. Also could run the bottom sil trim board thru a table saw set w a bevel for a diy drip edge
Gable ends done too! Well done Sam and Angela!
Sam's a poet and didn't know it
How much do you love that tractor. It helps you in ways you would never imagine. I have a compact tractor also and i love it every time i use it. I'm very happy for you guys.
Thanks for every thing you do.
Damn near a genius and it seems you are a really nice educator, craftsman and family man ❤
I am in love with those GRK cabinet screws! Just used them for the first time installing my kitchen cabinets, I am now envisioning all kinds of other uses for them (and you just gave me another one!).
Love the windows! Hello lovely assistant! God bless your family!
Wow looking great!!! You’re going to be moved in by Christmas! Best present ever!
Sam, The shop is really looking good and looking forward to seeing everything complete and set up for business.

Thanks!
one good trick to help with the gaps on trim is use a sharp utility knife to trim the excess plastic squeezed out
Thanks for sharing, this is turning out so nice! Good job
Your work shop looks great.
Wow looks fantastic. Can't wait for the inside to be done.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and putting the windows in
Wow! Another good job today. I have learned so very much from you. Thanks for sharing this install!
Love all of this! You have my favorite channel to follow.
Is this a test run for building a house? Seems like you nailed it so far!
Sam, I hope you can get your roof on for Christmas, that would help the year a real high.
Great job Dude. I learn so much watching your videos.
first comment: this is an awesome shop build and you will have alot of good times working in this shop! 🌟#blessed
Sam you've come a long way since I watched you for the first time ❤
That is going to be an awesome workshop.
Looks super sharp.
the shop really looks great Sam 🤜🤛
Looking good. That is going to be a really nice shop when it all comes together. Do you plan to put a breezeway in-between the new and the old shop?
great video Sam. At about minute 14:20 you were showing your completed trim job, but shop adjacent doesn't have the windows trimmed out. Please trim them out thanks
Looks great windows always add Personality besides the paint
Looking GOOOOOD!
Merry Christmas sweet family
Good afternoon Sam

Great work as usual. Merry Christmas!

Looks great Sam ❤
I have that same razor knife. It's my EDC knife. Don't have to worry about sharpening it. Just change the blade.
Mine too! I've had one for about 5 years now and they're great. I like the serrated blades you can get for them too.
Looks great Sam
Sam the shop is looking good . When is the metal roof going on? Keep up the good work
Code here (not for sheds tho) would need one more square of flashing in the bottom corners to cover the seam where you cut in. Nice job so far! Did you already close in the gable ends?

Great job.
Looks awesome to me, keep up the great work y'all.
You do really good work
Looking great.
Great job, Sam!
Great job
Have you thought about a walkway between old and new shop???
I've used dolls on the corners to keep everything nice and tight and flush
Looks great !
Wtg Sam!!! ✌️💖🙏🤜
Nice window install, plenty of light. Noticed screens are not full anymore only half. Will you do a mini split for the workshop? Recall how hot it gets there, or will ceiling fans & exhaust fans do the job?
And you’re a Poet too? 🤩 😂😂☺️ is there anything you can’t do? 😊
Great job, Sam! If you was my neighbor I would probably hire you as a A+ carpenter. Thanks for sharing!!
One thing about window flashing cut the outside of the flashing tape at a 45 dont cut the inside corners
Carpenter in a tube!!
FarmOut Sam
How are you insulating the floor?

Why did you not put tape over the screws on the sides of the window flange
Looks really good! Didn’t you video the siding getting put up or did I miss it?
That was a few videos back.

Still to come: door install, z-flashing and gable end wall siding. Then I am inside working.
Sam, how are the feet doing? Noticed you're avoiding ladders more these days.
I just finished watching this series for your workshop, what was the name of the software program you used to design this?
SketchUp. :)
👍👍👍

I may or may not be redoing my window trim now :/
Looks so nice 👍
Now would be a good time to role out a big role of flooring for the workshop while its empty. Have you decided flooring?
Roses are red, violets are blue, Sam installed his window, woo-hoo! Sorry, but after your I spy rhyme and, "chalk and paint make me the carpenter I ain't " I couldn't help myself, I like a rhyme anytime😊
Sam the poet lol
It bugged me that you didn't add flashing tape over the corners where the flashing meets.
I wanted to see the lovely assentant😯
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Dr Seuss!😂

You aren't going to know what to do with all that room!!
🖐👍🤗🌲❣
👍👍💕💕🎶🎶
Dont want to be a downer but that is not the correct way to tape a window.
Will you put gutters on?
