    if they are on a bed ,sofa or any thing soft make sure to move them to a hard floor so the compressions work ,then skip ads

      There should no be ads in the middle, it is a short video (as I understand it only videos 8 min and longer has ads embedded)

      @@NurseMinder that's what I thought aswell, but I still got 2 ads at the beginning that could be skipped after 5 seconds. That means 10 seconds later I can begin CPR. Epic.

    Last I knew its bad to blow CO2 in a patients lungs. Since 2011 or so when I was in the army chest compressions was the only thing. And local emt says the same unless you have oxygen to blow in to them., Straight O2.

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The air we breathe has 21% oxygen in it and what we use a fraction of that. I think the value is 7% which means we still exhale oxygen.
      The airway to the lungs does not participate in oxygen/ CO2 exchange, it is simple a container -
      Imagine the hallway of a school the trachea and the rooms in the school the alveoli where the exchange occurs.

    I thought highest survival rate was to only keep pushing and skipping the breathing. That's what research has shown... I just saw a video of a professor stating skipping the breathing?

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Hands only CPR is a great option. Community members are taught to focus on cpr. Healthcare providers will do both :)

    I took CPR years ago I dont even remember any of it. I took it for children though. I worked with children. My hubby saved his dads life a few years ago with CPR and I want to be ready if he gets into any trouble. Do I need one of those masks or can I give him rescue breaths without it I really don't know? My notifications on YT do not work but I am going to watch this again because I plan on practicing with him. So I will see if you get back to me.

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question You can give air using mouth to mouth technique - perfectly acceptable and used when we know the person (ir family). In healthcare we always use a face mask

    Hi Thank you for this video. It's very helpful. Question, what if the person is obese, and you are a small person (like myself), how do you keep the proper posture and stance to do CPR on the person? How deep do you press in this case, is it still the same as you showed?

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. The process is the same. There is a lot of strength in the position and you would be surprised at your strength in this type of situation

      @@NurseMinder Hi. I'm wondering if you can give me tips for cpr. I'm underweight and have no upper body strength, so when I tried to do cpr I couldn't get the compression depth right no matter how many times I tried, the green lights didn't turn on because I wasn't strong enough. BLS training is essential for MD students, so I'm hoping you could give me tips to be able to do it.

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If they are in the bed, and you can put something hard behind their back (board), that will work. If you lower them to the floor, protect the head!

    Is there a safe way, if you don't have a mask like yours, to perform CPR in this day of COVID 19?

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes - no breathing - chest compressions only - 5 sets of 30 compressions nonstop then reassess the patient
