    Before the stroke, I used to take the stairs very often, mostly sat or drove alone at work. As soon as I was able to walk steadily, I looked for the stairs, the PT was surprised, at first I held the handrail tight, I was persistent and progressed so that now after the exercises from the earlier videos I have no problems. Professional advice and persistence gives results. Thanks Tara, have a nice week.

      @@rehabhqofficial Thank you Tara, I recognized your approach and the quality of your advice with foreknowledge and I am trying to implement it. The progress is obvious and I'm just passing on my experience, I'm looking forward if it inspires others and helps them in their recovery. I would like others to confirm their success and for people to see that with persistent work they can improve their quality of life.

    Dr.Tara, I had a stroke in Jul/Aug 2018 and then my rehab took a back seat due to covid and after COVID I had to resume work and hence couldn't afford to take special time off for rehab.
    As a result of stroke I lack sensation in my left foot due to neuropathy and in addition I feel my left leg is extremely heavy and find it difficult to lift my leg and bend my knee. I have spaticity in my ankle as a result my foot has a tendency to point down.. I have climbed down and up 12 floors in this condition although with support of stair gaurd railings.
    I walk approximately 3000 to 3500 steps a day athough with a circumduction.

    Dr Tobias please make a video on how to learn to write with affected hand after stroke.i have lost lot of confidence because of not able to write after stroke

      @@FullTimePatient37 i have suggestion for you mam . follow divine u.k you will find an answer parylysis cannot be reversed it's just an alternative option that doctors suggest .there were parylytics 2000 years before since then there is no cure.christ just cured them with his word you never know he wants to cure you too . remember miracles happen everyday.

    My therapist only spent a few minutes on stairs when I was inpatient and outpatient. I spent a lot of time in my yard practicing on stairs, it took me months to learn how to switch legs and bend my knee going up and down the stairs. At first, I was dragging the affected leg up. The issue I have now is when I lift the leg on my affected side, it causes my unaffected side hip to support me and causes me to lean back. I was told this is due to not having ankle movement and it was suggested to due calf stretches and do standup marches to loosen the tight muscles that control the ankle. I can lay down and do knee lifts fast and easy but not standing up. It took a while to learn how to do that laying down also. It's so confusing at times and frustrating but I will keep working.

    I didn't achieve the goal of learning how to stand and bend my knees so i can't at all climb any stair BESIDES the fact that they have ended my rehabilitation completely i don't know what to do now that I'm on my own 😭

    Thank you so much for sharing the above video. I am not able to both ascend and descend stairs . Face a lot of balance issues. Hip muscles very weak as well

    Hi Dr. about 40 years ago I did something to my knee, not sure what but for about 3 years I suffered with it, after that I was able to return to normal work, I have a small pool service business in N. Fl. For the past 3 months I`ve had a good amount of pain and stiffness in the back of my knee, I do have a good amount of Atrophy, before 3 months ago I ran, walked well, rode a bike, what would be a course of action....thank you
