Do you hook and look before you shut the door and isolate the room?

Yes- it's standard practice to search the area outside the door before isolating the room.

    Where is extinguishment for Protection!
V - Vent the fire room windows.
E - Extinguish all Visible Burning Material in and outside the structure.
V - Vent additional windows to remove heat, smoke and water vapor.
E - Enter with a charged line to further cool the space while you search and remove the victims you just protected.

In this particular training- the fire was in another part of the structure. This training was a targeted search for a potential victim- believed to be in the second floor bedroom on the alpha/delta corner. During a real incident, we would have several crews responding to the scene and each one would be assigned a task- i.e.- search and rescue, fire extinguishment, roof venting (if needed), RIT (rapid intervention team- for firefighter safety) etc. What you see in this training is just part of what occurs during an incident.

@@WestMetroFire Just as long as extinguishment is the priority as it can be done quickest.

@@JB91710 We have multiple crews responding to structure fires. Life safety is actually the number one priority, however, many tasks are being completed at the same time. One or more crews search for victims. One or more crews work on extinguishment.
