They seem like a great option. Especially over Taurus or Canik. The slide grooves are very Beretta. The slide is very Sig. I'm kinda ticked about the trigger on the Bersa. I dropped some money with LTT to give my PX4 the same performance and a $400 Bersa has it.

  • @lino5167

When Mr. Firearmguy reviewed this very same pistol I wrote a mini-review for you US guys out there, and I'll add a little bit to what Sootch said to complement the review.
    1. I have put around 1200 shots through this pistol without a single malfunction, save for 3 or 4 primer failures, 1 with an old round of Winchester white box ammo and 3 with my own handloads (4.2 grains of Winchester 231/crappy copper plated bullets/crappy russian produced primers). From that 1200, around 300 were factory ammo with the other 900 being handloads.
    2. The finish on mine didn't ever look as good as the one shown in the video, so you lucky sons of guns might be getting a slightly better finish on yours, than we do here. There is actually a local myth down here about BERSA having two different QC lines, one for export and another for the local market.
    3. I've found the front sight to be just a little bit bigger than I like 'em when going for precision shots. I shoot paper targets, at an indoor range, and about 15 yards and when I aim small, like just shooting and aiming for that very same hole; I lose sight of that target when focusing on the front sight; but that's also my own technique and sight getting in the way. I've seen an instructor splitting a paper target on the 2nd shot fired from my own gun at 7 yards.
    4. The gun is designed for ambidexterity and I know that for a fact; because I shoot it with both hands just the same. I mostly shoot this gun left handed, but easily switch to a right handed grip (which I use to practice with my 10mm EAA Witness) without difficulty.
    5. I freaking love shooting double taps through this pistol. I couldn't believe myself the first time I shot the full 18 rounds and every two holes were touching each other. With the very short reset and light trigger pull you can shoot very fast out of this pistol. The trigger, however doesn't breaks as crisply as I'd like.
    7. Something I really don't like about the firearm has mainly to do with the finish, and how fast it wears, specially on the top of the chamber and the frame; and that's only from transporting it to the range and firing (it's almost impossible to get a carry permit as a civilian in Argentina, however you can carry all you want within your property).
    8. I've found out that the magazine springs may develope some issues after time, when you try to load them; so nothing that you would experiment when carrying or firing it, but I had one of them load only 5 rounds before the spring got stuck (maybe it developed a burr somewhere that caught the cartridges or the spring), but after tapping it a little bit I was able to keep on feeding it.
    9. Talking about the magazines, the magwell is beveled which adds to an ease of reloading when inserting the mag from not so perfect angles.
    10. It's a great starting gun. I took a friend who had never held a gun before, and after 20 minutes or so he looked as if he had at least a couple months handling the gun, operating the controls, gripping, shooting and aiming.
    11. BERSA's warranty is something to behold, I can't speak for Eagle Imports holding up to their end, you may find some info out there about some warranty points, but for what I've heard and read they're outstanding and very easy to deal with.
    Hope this helped.

I appreciate the background information that you always share and make me informed. Personally, I think you have one of the best if not the best firearms insights and reviews and I am very glad to have subscribed to your channel. I am just starting out and have yet to purchase my first firearm and I am leaning more toward the 9mm caliber handguns and I think I prefer the all metal iteration of the handgun as opposed to the polymer frame but again, speaking from a newbie standpoint, I will stand corrected and I welcome any comments to that as well.

I have the FIRST Thunder 9 model and it is truly amazing. They tried to copy the attributes of the p5/88. I vividly remember the NRA shooting test of the 'new' double action pistol from Bersa. They did a side by side accuracy test and ,drumroll, the Bersa beat the 88 though not by much. I have a buddy who has a mint condition 88 so he and I shot these pistols side by side, one mag each. Hands down the Thunder 9 had a better trigger, like alot, therefore subsequent accuracy was much better with the Thunder 9. Great Video!

I like everything about the TPR9, and the comments indicate an enthusiastic following for Bersa's firearms. I'm a little concerned about that takedown, though... it seems TOO simple. If that were all it should require to remove a slide (without the possibility of it ever happening unintentionally) why doesn't every manufacturer make use of this ultra-simple design feature?

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe it can only be taken off with the magazine released.

That would be correct. I own 4 Bersa’s including both the TPR9 and TPR9C. Both amazing pistols and just unbelievable quality for the price

I have a TPR9C with a threaded barrel. I figure a holster for a TPR9 would be what I would want to encase the entire pistol. I'm having trouble finding a holster that is dedicated the this Bersa pistol. Any suggestions? As a side note, I am impressed by this pistol.

Looks like a good pistol for home defense/bedside with a set of night sights.

Great review! I always enjoy your videos and have learned so much from you for a while now.
I haven't shot a Bersa yet, but I have held one at a gun shop and it seemed like a quality build. Based on this video I may look for this model on GunBroker. Thanks 👍

Aluminum is better than plastic but sure wish the frame was steel. I do like it though.

I popped into a local gunshop today. The young salesman immediately reached under the counter and showed me a Canik knockoff of a berretta 92. He mentioned the Taurus pt92 and said it was cheap andcnot good. He doesn't realize Taurus bought the machines Berretta used to make the 92s. They were rxact copies made on the very same machine lines. When I mentioned I have a Bersa Tpr9, he shoved the canik under the counter. Looked at me and said "That's real cheap!" And he then walked away from me. He was done with me. Lol!
I've never go back to that shop. Fuck em!

What is causing the flat shooting? Is it the weight, the size or both? It really looks nice and the price is awesome. I really like the ease of the take down. I recently purchased the FNS9 and it took me a while to figure out how to take it down. Thanks for sharing another beautiful gun with us!

"Muy bien, Sootch" A very good video, on a well made pistol. I especially like the intro and exit music, very geographically themed! I prefer Double Action, hammered pistols. And they are hard to find, in these days of a striker fired dominated market.

I don't know how warranty is in USA, but in Argentina you just go to factory with the gun and they repair it, and if something is wear the just change it, and that all, no question is asked.
