Bersa is, by far, my favorite handgun manufacturer. Ergonomic, great triggers, mostly ambidextrous, aesthetically pleasing, easily concealed, safety conscious, ultra reliable, and ALL (except their XT competition pistol) can be found under $400. Thunder and BP9cc can be bought under $250!!! Unmatched!

@@sootch00 I'm going to argue semantics: they're not under rated, they're under publicized. Every TH-cam review I've seen of any Bersa is positive, if not rave. The Firearm Guy, Graham Baates, Colion Noir... on and on. They're highly rated...but they're *unknown*. Everyone I talk to, when I say "I EDC a Bersa," does this: 🤔 Hmm, Bersa, huh?
Same, in my opinion, about Sarsilmaz. I have the CM9 (which you've reviewed) and after I polished the sear/ hammer face, the SA trigger is money! Pinpoint accurate, great ergonomics!

Dear Sootch. I'm from Argentina. GREAT Video. The Bersa BP9CC it's quite popular in Argentina. Most new shooters buy this model or the TPR9. In argentinians gun forums some shooters says that a doble stack full size version of the BP9 is on the way. We are all waiting. Greetings from Argentina. You have a lot of fans down here. I retire next week after 36.5 years in law enforcement. When I come home from my shift, my decked out Glock Gen 4 Model 19, my Daniel Defense AR and my Remington 870 Tactical go into my safe. I pull out my Bersa BP9cc with rail light and two extra magazines, an old Norinco AK, and my Maverick 88 12 gauge to protect my family at night. They all work fantastic, and if either one would ever have to used, I am not out of my expensive stuff until the investigation is over! That could be up to 18 months! Over a 1000 rounds in each gun with no problems. I trust my Bersa as much as I trust my Glock!

Have carried a Bersa 380 for many years. The key lock has it's place. With what I do I am in and out of places that you can't carry. IE: Hospitals, Courthouses and Police/Sheriff stations. I am required to leave my sidearm in my vehicle on those occassions. That's when I use the key/frame lock. That way if someone gets into my vehicle they can't fire the weapon. Like any other routine you have to get into the habit of unlocking when you re-arm. Practice practice practice.
Great review. Will definately take a look at one of these.

You need to get a small gun safe and secure it to your vehicle. I have a combination safe that's secured to the passenger seat mounting bolt by a thick steel cable. I'd rather just lock the gun in that than use an incorporated gun lock.

    • @timhahne3894
      @timhahne3894 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Had considered that. I've gotten so used to the frame lock it's not an issue. I even check my guns that don't have when I re-arm. LOL Digging under the seat in front of the Police station would draw unnecessary attention i think. Great solution if it works for you.

I live near Bersa in Argentina (Ramos Mejia). Even when I love my G17, is wonderful to have the factory so close cause If you have any problems... they really fix it for you no charge (which is vital in a budget gun). Also, we can get this Bersa Bp9cc for about 150 dólars, which is even cheaper (when a G43 is about $1100 dólars!!).
I really want the G43x... thats why i THANK YOU you for this video. Gonna get the Bp9cc.

It's a great gun and I've had one since introdution.
But, I wish they removed the lock, the mag disconnect safety, added a glock style trigger safety and with the super light trigger pull, add a manual safety. And considering how thin the grip is, make it a 12 rounder.

Picked up a BP380CC. Same gun, basically, as the 9mm version. Had a bit of trouble with light primer strikes every 2-3 magazines. The gun shipped with a heavy packing grease that I’d cleaned off prior to firing, EXCEPT inside the slide-specifically the firing pin mechanism. Took that apart (quick and easy), and it was covered in grease. Removed it all. Back to the range, 100 rounds and no problems. Fun gun. Surprisingly accurate. I have bigger hands, so the larger size compared to most 380’s is nice. It’s still plenty slim and compact, being a single stack.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Review, I have binge watched every video review over the last few weeks on this gun as I contemplated getting it then bought it, I love that he mentions the updated lower prices, I am glad he told us about it having a new one coming out, that confirms what I suspected because of the super low price, I liked that he compared it briefly with the Shield which I had already seen in one other video, but what I love most and what I have been trying to see most is the comparison to the Glock 43x, because when I watched Hickock review this gun 5 years ago he said that it was the gun that Glock should be doing and now it has taken Glock 5 years to catch up, Bersa has already beaten Glock at their own game, and NOBODY, better say that the BP9CC is a Glock or especially Glock 43x "clone" because Bersa already beat Glock to it YEARS ago and I can't wait to see the new comparison video, you can already tell with the rail, already years of proven reliability, and price, and probably trigger. The Bersa is going to stomp the 43x no contest at all, I can't wait for that comparison video!

All the reviews (yours & other folks) impressed me enough that I bought one last week. To my surprise, I received a new version (slide is stamped "imported by Talon"). Changes: Slide serrations are straight & angled forward. Trigger pull measures 4-1/2 lbs on my Wheeler tool and is very, very smooth. Came with two magazines. Still has mag disconnect on trigger - annoying, but I'll get used to it. Recoil spring is like Glock's progressive/telescoping setup. And it can only go in one way, the caps are slightly different in size. In a nutshell: This pistol is Way Too Much Fun to be just a CCW. Next Challenge: locating/selecting a good holster (not a lot of choices). Anyway, thanks for the information.

I've had both the Bersa BP9 and the BP380. I put the Hogue soft rubber slip on grip onto both of them, really makes a nice difference. Both are nickel plated. The BP380 for some reason does NOT have the magazine disconnect, go figure. Triggers are the same on both. The trigger is different once you do take the magazine out of the BP380 and fire it without it. Not bad, just different. There's also now after market triggers for these guns from Galloway Precision. Some folks have issues with their finger being pinched by the stock trigger. My 380 has the long extractor, the 9 has the short one. Just love these guns. Lifetime warranty to the original owner. Love your reviews, keep up the good work!

One negative that may deter folks from buying one. Bersa, while they do have a lifetime warranty, does not, to my knowledge pay for shipping either way. That can be expensive, if you need to send the gun in for repair.
My BP9 CC HAD 2 minor issues. It would continuously drop magazines during shooting, and my front sight blew in half. The magazine issue occurred with all 4 of my magazines.
Rather than send the gun in, I felt the cost involved would negate the great deal I got when I bought it. I chose to-replace the magazine catch and the sight myself.
Minimal cost, and minimal time to do. Gun is now 100% reliable through the past 500 rounds. Extremely satisfied with Bersa products.

Greetings from Argentina! about the slippery grip, most of Bersa pistols have the same problem. Bersa is selling an adhesive "sandpaper" kits to stick to them to improve the grip. It's a bit expensive for what it actually is, but I bet it's hyper-cheap for USA. However you can adapt any adhesive sandpaper to make it better. Chekc the BP9 XP... it has no the safety key, as you like, and extended barrel.

BP9CC is a great gun. I really like the 1911-ish trigger. It doesn't swing on an axis pin like most other polymer pistols. It tilts to disengage the inertia safety then moves straight back like a 1911 with a very short reset. It's a really overlooked product in the sea of single stack 9s. The only real downside I can note is that spare magazines are hard to find and very expensive with a MSRP of $50 each - very few places discount the mags because of how hard they are to get.

Whodathunkit? Bersa virtually designed, built and marketed the basic G43X concept gun five whole years before Glock did! That's great. Looks like a real smooth-running gun. And for Bersa's very first poly-frame entry, they did great. They obviously did their homework in designing it. I've said for years the Bersa handguns were often underrated by many folks. They do manufacture good guns at an unbeatable price-point. Great video, as always, Sootch! Thanks for sharing this with us.

@NPC #303 I beg to differ. I bought my first Bersa Thunder .380 used, back in 1999 and have put thousands of rounds through it.
#1) Its never failed... at all... ever.
#2) An armorer friend of mine told me that, with the materials they use, and how the gun's constructed, it's probably better built than a Walther PPK, and *definitely* more reliable.
You should do better research. I think you're confusing Bersa products with those produced in "Ring of Fire" companies like Jiminez.
Now, with *those* your description is highly accurate.

@NPC #303 That's all okay and everything, but have you actually had a Bersa break on you? Cause my *personal experience* is: gun is 20+ years old, countless rounds, no breakages, and still going strong...
But, whatevs-- You need to feel comfortable with what you carry...

I have owned just about every model and caliber that Bersa has made except for the XT Pro. They make some really nice dependable firearms. There are good holsters for the BP I carry mine in a Theis hybred holster and it’s very comfortable to carry all day. Big Dot sights and a few other companies make night sights for the BP also.

Not a bad pistol for the money, I had one but I experienced the pinching issue with the trigger. Also the finish came off the slide the first time I put it in a Kydex holster. Overall I wouldn't mind buying another one.

Got mine 5 years ago, had to let it go. I had nothing but problems like light primer strikes and failure to extract. Sent in for warranty twice, after still having issues I sold it. I think I had a lemon. Really like the gun otherwise. Tigger is very nice, I think its too light for concealed carry without having a manual safety.

Or just carry without one in the chamber. That's a pretty solid safety, if you are willing to do it. I know alot of guys who carry glocks "cold" just for the reason of they don't like not having a 100% positive safety. I could see both sides of that idea though. Also sorry to hear you got a lemon :/

This is a fine gun. I much prefer poly over metal frame pistols. I also much prefer double over single stack pistols, as I believe the majority of shooters do.
To me the BP9CC is Bersas best pistol (remember I prefer poly) to date, but they are missing a Cargo Tanker of a boat by not making this a little bit larger and double stack. Make it a pinch taller than a G19 for a fuller grip, maintain slide to grip ratio and make it hold 17 rounds.
Some will say that that size with that capacity is not possible, but if I’m not mistaken there are already pistols out there that are already in the G19 size holding 18 round mags.
So 17 shouldn’t be a problem. It seems Bersa needs some new leadership. It took them far to long to make the BP380, even longer to put the BP9 out and it has been how long since then and nothing new.
I’d love to add another Bersa to my list, but it would have to be a Poly Doublestack of 17 rounds.
Yes bersas metal frame pistols are fine, but in today’s market, where full size poly frame pistols weigh almost half that of a comparable metal frame pistol, why doesn’t every manufacturer have one.
Heck it’s 2019 and even Mossberg and Stoeger, two shotgun manufacturers have introduced double stack poly pistols.

What happened to Bersa Talk? I have a T9UC which I have had for many years, which has been completely flawlessly. Incredibly accurate as well. I bought a BP9UC not too long after they released and have shot it perhaps twice - had a few malfunctions. Perhaps one day I’ll shoot it again. This video gives me some motivation!

The Kahr 7rd CW9 magazine has straight walls that causes the top round to nose dive, so carrying empty chamber 7rds is not advised and carrying -1 with 6rds is marginal. The M&P Shield and the BP9CC solved this with the magazine side wall ridges to better support the rounds. My nickel-plated slide BP9CC is stylish, accurate, nicely slim for IWB carry, good at feeding and ejection, and wear resistant in the nickel-plated slide version. However, it has one fatal flaw, namely a too light 2 to 3 lb trigger pull which is way too light for carry in a stressful situation. Even at the range it is too light and I had it unintentionally double on me one time.

cool how it reminds of the Steyr
in the top radius of the grip compared to the trigger
and how the whole trigger pivots for the safety feature
before being pressed back all together... far more appealing
than the center-hinged safety of the S&W/FN or the Glock etc
split-trigger -- gotta look agn to see if the Steyr is the same

Just got one from Sportsman's Guide for $237. Wanted one years ago but opted for a Shield 9mm instead. The trigger on the Bersa is just so light (3.7lbs) I was afraid to appendix carry it.
