I always enjoy your videos. You seemed surprised after heating the wire that it did not anneal as you expected. When you anneal, it only needs to be a cherry red (non glowing and hard to see in a lighted room). When you heat to glowing as you did, the wire, being so thin, is actually re- heat treating and quickly air quenching. As regards straightening, there are overtwist methods that are on TH-cam where you twist the wire until it no longer shows waves then untwist. Never tried this myself. Thanks for your videos.
To straighten the wire, i've had reasonable success using a 2x4 as an "anvil". You hold the end, convex side up and hit it with a ball peen hammer. squashing it a bit between the hammer and the wood. This will now straighten a bit, as the wood crushes under the hammer blow, but not further out , resulting in the bend lessening. where you hit it, Move the wire in and repeat untill it's reasonably straight. Then you can then roll the wire around on the 2x4 to easily see where the last imperfections are and massage them into straightness with the hammer

I have straightened wire by clamping one end in a bench vise and then jerking the wire with a vise grip plier clamped on the far end.
OK. Method #3.
put the wire into a drill chuck, pull on it and spin several times both ways. youll be surprised
Spring wire is easier to bend hot.
