    Thanks for this info, much of which was lacking in my journey through 2 sleep clinics. But I wanted to say that when I was given IV iron, I got a severe burning sensation in my blood vessels. Also, it was expensive, as it was given in-hospital in a clinic that treats cancer patients. I had to return to supplementation, but the IVs at least helped to quickly boost my ferritin level.

    It typically occurs at the nap hour, and if you are in an environment whereby the room conserves heat too well, then the best approach is to do a before nap time workout routine of your choice for an hour and also remember to keep the dry air out during the summer the best way you know how or winter time using the thermo control with the "fan" control setting on "auto" fan setting simultaneously and not "on". Dry fan air will dissipate at auto setting, and it's good for the lungs when you do your workout out in your room at night before bed. That's my conclusion and cure after 38+ years, too. It seems that at this age, it is the gold standard age experience I've noticed. Human evolution wasn't meant for energy saving high-tech rooms, which trap dry air in rather to the contrary outdoor experience. Who even gets cured off of restless leg syndrome on a couch rather than outdoors doing stuff and then napping in the forest somewhere. I am serious about this. It's a cure on my behalf in every season of the year and counting. My time for a workout is at the 12 mark to 1am. It is cold outside to open windows and dangerous too. unpredictable too if you live with your loved ones.

    I saw a video that said copper helps with iton absorption. In your research have you found this?

      I'm not aware of much to answer your question. This study looked at mineral levels in RLS:

      If you're able to, would you link that video on copper and iron absorption? (You can check your TH-cam history, search for "copper".) Of course we must be very careful with copper toxicity, which is very rare but can occur.

    I’ve been on iron supplements for years, all the various ironrelated bloodtests are well above the recommended range - still debilitating progressive RLS. So whats up with that.

      Currently, there is no practical way to measure brain iron levels. There is often no correlation between blood levels of iron and brain levels in RLS. The leading theories are that even those with high blood iron levels from infusion may not be getting iron to certain brain regions that are low in iron. Another is that there are different forms of RLS that are not related as much to iron levels. Only time and further research will answer your question.,

    If Ferritin level is 122 ug/L and still have severe RLS symptoms. Should we aim for even higher ferritin levels?

      A great question and one that research studies have yet to answer! Because the blood levels of iron do not necessarily correspond with brain levels, theoretically some individuals would get improvement to RLS with ferritin > 122 ng/mL. I have seen several cases in which the condition worsens when iron falls below levels much higher than this, but have no way to predict who may benefit from an infusion with higher ferritin levels without trial and error.

    I've got a question regarding RLS and tonic water. I've come across some information on the web suggesting that drinking tonic water can help in relieving the pain of RLS. Intrigued, I tried it. Weirdly enough, it works! My question is: what does quinine have to do with helping to relieve RLS? Please consider making a video addressing this. Thank you! Jeff from Santa Fe.

      Quinine was mostly a treatment for nighttime leg cramps, not RLS. However, it is not recommended for either condition due to the potential adverse effects on things like the heart and blood. Here is one paper summarizing some of the issues with quinine:

    Is slow release iron better for RLS?

      Slow-release is generally not recommended. Though it may be gentler on the stomach for those who have discomfort from iron, it is "released" too far down in the bowels to be absorbed and would probably not help as much as regular iron. It may cause increased constipation if the iron is not taken up in to the body.

      If the reason for your question is stomach discomfort, you may look into food-based iron, which is what I use. It's a bit more expensive, but for me, worth it. I use Megafood "Blood Builder".

    I've been taking ropinoral for a few years now and it's no longer working anymore is there any other scripts that work better? please help. not getting much sleep at all

      Dopamine agonists like ropinirole do not stop working or become ineffective. They may actually be causing the condition to worsen. The phenomenon is called augmentation.

      Cognitive and behavioral therapy is one of the essential treatments for insomnia and issues of poor sleep quality. It is hard to find and I do this myself the way I have set up my practice. This is a great database of other specialists who do sleep therapy:
