Just a little tiny bit of information for you both here, Blenheim palace is Named after the battle of Blenheim 1702. It was the first time that an army marched and didn't scavange the land surrounding them for food. So John Churchill (the first duke of Marlborough) was the first General to ever use logistics. He even included new boots on the march route. The Army he lead arrived fully fed, fully equiped, and with enough ammunition to fight a war, let alone a major battle in the war of Spanish succession. He won the battle of Blenheim, and as a reward from Queen Anne he was granted the land. The Palace was built after plenty of wrangling, and politicking between Parliament, the Lords, the Crown and Churchill himself, this included a three year self agreed exile in Europe. The Palace is unique in Britain because it is the only Palace not for Royalty (the Churchill's were never members of the royal family), and it is NOT an episcopalian home (the Bishops of canterbury and York live in palaces for example). It is also the only home in the Uk in that it is used a family home, a Mausoleum, amd a national Monument. it was also as you said Winston Churchill's home. One tiny little treasure of information, it is actually larger than buckingham palace, and is a Unseco world Heritage site such is it's importance. Now I will watch the video on my favourite building in the whole world!!
I went there last year for the evening walk of the ground, light and stuff everywhere plus Santa. Was amazing then a Christmas market on the grounds too and Victorian fair ground rides as well
Winston Spencer Churchill had to get the Kings permission to give up his place in the line of succession to the Dukedom to pursue his career as an MP, although would have been a sideways move to succeed. Spencer Churchill was his full surname hence the Diana connection, he preferred not to use it as an MP just the Hon. Mr. Churchill MP. As he had revoked the chance to inherit a peerage he could only be Knighted on his retirement. He was only the second non Royal to receive a full State Funeral the first being the Duke of Wellington. Albeit against his wishes, but not the nations, he was allowed his choice of final resting place.
Blenheim theme for 2023 is "Sleeping Beauty"
22 years ago I was running a booth at the Blenheim Horse Trials and I was lucky enough to be camping in and have free reign of the grounds. It was such an incredible and memorable experience. Standing on that beautiful stone bridge, totally alone, with my morning coffee and watching the river flow by with the stunning landscaping around me and the palace to my left. I'll never experience that again.❤

Looks like their theme that year was the Snow Queen (by Hans Christian Andersen) - with Kai and Greta the children, and the signs are for the children to follow the story through each of the rooms
Hello there.... I live quite near to the palace. The inside is impressive but the grounds are far more impressive. The gardens and lakes and even a waterfall. A video about Churchill would be great. He's way more complicated than most people know. A lot of people , British people included, just see him as this immense figure of history....but he was a flawed and fascinating man.
Echoing your comments, I've never seen flowers incorporated into christmas decor like that, knowing how much good artificial flowers cost they must have spent an absolute fortune! The colours were incredible. Very beautiful.
I live about 10-15 minutes away from Blenheim and is in my opinion the most beautiful stately home.
I was at Blenheim Palace for the Christmas event and it was AMAZING, the house was themed around Sleeping Beauty and they did a light show in the Gardens along with a small museum about the life of Winston Churchill.
I was blown away of how big the estate is as everything was huge and massive.
The American Viscountess does a lot of vlogs about historic houses in the UK. They are interesting because she talks to the families and their struggles to keep them going

I lived in Oxford in my 20's and often went to Blenheim Palace. The Christmas decorations are amazing. It's an amazing place to visit. Fun fact Winston Churchill was born there.
Another fun fact. Road Tax was abolished by Winston Churchill in 1937, because he did not want motorists to think "A token payment gave them ownership of the roads". As a cyclist I get motorists attempting to justify attempted murder using the Road Tax defence.
I'm from Oxford too, apparently it's a myth that Churchill was born in the place I have heard he was actually born in a nearby cottage.
I'm British and have never been to Blenheim Palace! I will change that next summer. Natasha & Debbie have put Blenheim Palace on their ever expanding "to visit" list for next year.
It's all so easy when one has plenty of money to throw at doing something. The rest of us have to do ours on a shoestring like our stable for the Nativity is an old cardboard box covered with a brown envelope turned inside out and wooden planking drawn on in brown ink. The straw on the floor is old dried grass and the lot is 30 years old.
Been struggling to get into the festive spirit this year but this has very much changed that. Thank you both ❤

Funnily enough, I just glanced on some TV thing last night about a royal palace at Xmas (Sandringham) with a splendid giant Xmas tree on show with original Queen Victoria's glass baubles! So classy!👌🎄

Definately worth doing a video on Blenheim its magnificent! A Unesco world heritage site! Also fun fact... the bridge at Blenheim has several rooms in it but most were flooded when Capability Brown created the lake! Although you can still access the upper rooms by boat😃

They pick a theme each year. Those story plaques are for the children to follow. This takes the house staff FOREVER to put together.. it’s a massive amount of work. And it’s incredible.
You need to look for a short series called ‘Christmas At Blenheim’… shows them getting ready for a Christmas.
I have only been to Blenheim Palace once and it was at Christmas, it was so beautiful with Christmas trees everywhere 💕🎄💕

I used to live just down the road in the village of Yarnton (longest continually inhabited settlement in western europe) and visited many times. The house is stupendous but the grounds are also amazing. They formed part of my training runs on many occasions.
I was singing along . Nice short carol that one. Santa never visited me as child . It was nothing personal . We had gas fire in the fireplace. 😁😁😁😁
Blenheim Palace is an amazing place with extensive grounds that you can walk round for free. The grounds are gorgeously stunning.
Can you imagine packing that lot up and sticking it in the attic after Christmas?
I enjoyed this peek around the palace and cannot imagine how much time this took to create in each room as there was so much to see. What I did like was the things that you wouldn't normally associate with Winter or Christmas such as blossom, sunflowers, roses, grapes etc seemed to fit in so well.
Imagine how much these places cost to keep going ! They have to be commercial now in order to make
some money ! These and all the many others like them in the UK are our history !

It's a beautiful place to visit, the grounds are amazing and the house is pretty much like you are traveling back to about 1878. You can walk into the room where Winston Churchill was born and it's decorated just like the time he was brought into this world. Definitely worth a visit
Debbie, there is a way to get the ceiling painting in your room.
If you Google for ceiling paintings of Blenheim palace you could get a decent picture of one.
There are companies that can print out wallpaper or a self adhesive vinyl version to whatever size you want.
Blenheim is magical anytime but seeing it with those decorations was like stepping into a fairytale ❤️❤️

We go to Blenheim every New Year's eve. In the evening to walk through the estate decorations. It's always fantastic.

Yes, I would recommend you do another video on Blenheim Palace. This one was stunning, but you will probably be able to see more of the interior when the Christmas decorations are not in place. There is also an exhibition about Winston Churchill inside Blenheim Palace. His burial site is at a church not far from Blenheim.
We live near the Palace. The family actually live in a farm house on the grounds now. But the house is fully functional with over a dozen butlers. It sits on 3ooo acres, on which the biggest collection of the world’s oldest oak trees grow. The grounds are beyond beautiful and the lake, which was dug out by hand is 3 miles long and curves around the Palace. Inside the house is also breath taking and you can pay extra to see the queen’s bedroom and my favourite place, the kitchen and the stone basement where all the all the work happens. Please find a tour of this delightful place. You will love it.
I loved the video as always, I would love to see a reaction video to Churchill, the man was human and he had his faults, but he was a great man and the leader Britain when we needed it. You may wish to start by looking in to Dunkirk and the little ships.
This palace was one i visited on a school trip. Aged 13 it was the first time I had seen such a magnificent building. I would highly recommend you watch a film just about the house and its decor. Thanks again for your reaction x

Natasha and Debbie, don't know if you are aware but the 9th Duchess of Marlborough was the American heiress Consuelo Vanderbilt. She married the 9th Duke in 1895 (divorced 1921). In those times many British aristocratic families were in dire financial straits and marrying an American heiress solved the problem! She was known as one of the earliest "dollar princesses" meaning American women who bought their way into British aristocracy. Shortly after their marriage the Duke told her he had only married her "to save Blenheim Palace"..... For most of their married life they lived apart until divorcing in 1921........so Natasha, you want to be a Duchess you know what to do 😂😂😂
According to my great-nieces who told me all about it after their visit they have Sleeping Beauty as this year's theme. They tend to have a theme based on classic fairy tales, although I think they did Narnia one year. It's a two to three hour visit to have a good look at the public rooms inside if you want to do more than poke your head in a room and "Do Blenheim". And if the weather is nice than a good hour's stroll through the gardens.
My favourite bird is the Long Tailed Tit. Look in your British 🇬🇧 bird book. Then tell me that’s the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!!!! They are just Tiny Puff balls of colour and cute face. 😂😂❤❤
I’m very lucky to have Blenheim Palace 15 mins away from where I live. Also Churchill’s very modest grave is just down the road from there.

I was there about 3 weeks ago. This years theme was sleeping beauty, it was stunning. They had a light trail through the grounds also, it was magical
In 2021, BP had a theme of 'The Nutcracker', based on the ballet, and last year it was 'The Snow Queen' (shown here). (It's The Sleeping Beauty this season). Both the decoration of the State Rooms, and the evening exterior light trail and 'son et lumiere' were spectacular.
My family has always put flowers on our tree. Never thought it as something other people don't do. Merry Christmas everyone!

Back when I grew up in the 60s it was more is more. Every branch on the tree had at least two ornaments, lots of tinsel and, if anyone remembers it, lametta (multicoloured foil strands that you draped from all the branches). Colour theming was out of the question and people today would be horrified. We also had home made paper chain garlands hanging from the ceiling. Tacky these days I guess would be the huge blow up Santas and Snowmen that you see in front of some houses.
We have a mish mash of ornaments, some are probably 80 years old. It’s a tradition to buy a couple of new ones every year or when visiting places. The over manicured interior designed fashion led ones are soulless.
The background sound which interrupted her intro 3 times was the sound of the "bottle banks" being emptied into the recycle truck.

£38 now I think for access to the Palace, Park and Gardens, but that ticket is valid for a year so you can go multiple times if you don’t live too far away.

Blenheim Palace is even better at night with the outdoor lighting. Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s German husband, introduced the Christmas tree to us and interestingly Queen Victoria introduced the white, virginal wedding dress, now popular everywhere in the West.

Blenheim Palace looks very beautiful, I love to visit. My sister and I went last Friday to look at the Christmas trees at Chatsworth House Yorkshire England. Very similar to Blenheim, we had a lovely time looking at the different rooms and the Christmas decor, not as heavily decorated as BP so we got to see more the house and how skilled the craftsmen were..
Chatsworth is gorgeous, especially at Christmas. It's in Derbyshire btw.

I recently went to chatsworth house for the Christmas market. Definitely check that one out. The grounds outside were teeming with reindeer.

Most of the country houses that open to the public have a Christmas display. Check out Chatsworth House and Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey)
We had a silver tinsel 4 foot Christmas tree back in the 70s. It had one string of multi-coloured lights and plastic baubles. Then there were the Xmas tree decorations that my sister & I had made at school over the years. Oh and Natasha, we always had birds on our tree & I still have them.

Yes that certainly looks like a painting of Charles II. The painting next to it is a Van Dyke of Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford, holding his death warrant after being condemned to death by beheading by his close friend Charles I. This happened in 1641. We would very much like this painting back in the Van Dyke room at Wentworth Woodhouse please.☺️
Blenheim Palace is stunning, but you should take a look at Chatsworth House. The architecture both inside and out is breathtaking. You mentioned the painted ceiling here. The ones in Chatsworth are even better, in my opinion.

When I was a kid, my dad treated me. to a fishing trip on that lake we Had a boat for the day. We never caught anything, but it was a great day out. Beautiful scenery. It's not changed in 60 years from what I can see. I'd love to see you do a video on it. I've been there twice in my life Around. the Palace. And thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. But I always loved history, even as a child. I don't know if you've done this, but Warwick Castles also a good one.
I worked at BP for a year. Early mornings before the Palace opened I’d often walk around enjoying the place. I used to help with the guided tours of the private apartments where the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough lived. The Duke’s dog would sometimes come with us! I met the then Duke and Duchess of Marlborough too. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and lovely to walk around. It’s a stunning, stunning stately home.

If you get to the UK, it is worth a day trip to see Blenheim Palace Its just outside Oxford). The Interior is amazing, and there's plenty to see, outside there is a miniature railway that you can ride from the carpark to the main house, there's a Butterfly house by they carpark, and the gardens and park in Spring and summer are stunning.

There was a few displays with references to Narnia and a scen on a wall with the snow queen and the boy (Peter?) That live display was probably the Snow queen from H.C Andersen’s story.
Churchill was a "lesser" family member and so did not inherit this palace or a title. His middle name was Winston SPENCER Churchill, hence the connection to Lady Diana Spencer. Winston is buried nearby in Bladon with a not so elaborate memorial. Maybe the paper boat represents Churchill who was Lord of the Admiralty at one time. Just a guess.
Canadian portrait painter Joseph Karsh got Winston's scowl in his famous photograph by going up to him and snatching the cigar out of his mouth!!! He had a lot of nerve!!! Please do a video of Winnie. As his funeral cortege moved down the Thames, even the cranes along the river lowered as he passed.
My favourite Churchill anecdote is that some famous, high society woman said something along the lines, "If you were my husband, I would have poisoned your tea". He replied, "Madam, if you were my wife, I would have drunk it" :)
There is also the anecdote that Lady Astor once said to him “sir you are drunk!!” To which he replied “and you madam are ugly! But I will be sober in the morning”. Ouch!!
