I have ridden with Rachel (She changed her name to Victoria Ivy) many many times and I live in Charleston where she teaches Philosophy at College of Charleston. I am a 200lb man that is a mediocre cyclist on the grand scale. I leave Rachel in the dust on the sprints. She is a slow man. I have respect on what Rachel is going through as a person, but it is completely unjust for her to compete against biological females. Trashy. BTW, I get crushed by the other male racers in my area. Scott Minor, Jeff Moore and Jeff Avans would leave us all in the dust.

For the longest time I didn’t believe this was actually happening. This is insane. I lift weights, have been doing so for years. I am a “larger” female at 6’ and 190 ish lbs, I’ve been active, strong, and carried a good bit of muscle my whole life. I can move a good amount of weight for a woman. My husband who is my height and weighs 30 lbs more than me could walk in the gym any day (he’s not into lifting at the moment) and bench probably 2-3x what I can, and squat and deadlift just as much or more as me. Dude sat on his ass for like 6 years and still has big shoulders and biceps. His quads are literally solid muscle. It’s a biological fact. I’m not mad at it. I’ve been working my ass off for years but any dude in the gym that puts in the same amount of work and training will beat me at every lift hands down. It’s a fucking fact of life and we need to accept that. Men are stronger and it’s something we should appreciate. Women are strong in their own way but it’s just not fair to throw them up against people who were born, developed, and probably trained as males. Enough with this bullshit already.

I have no problem with a person being trans but I definitely have a problem with them being in a sport that they know they're going to dominate regardless if it's running or MMA because of their physical biological advantages, no amount of estrogen will ever be able to take away the raw strength and power a male possesses genetically so instead of pushing for them to be in female sports they should just be pushing to have their own category in sports; just like women have their own category and males have their own category they should have their own transgender category where they're competing and going against their own Point. @@giovannab.4587 in 2004 the rules surrounding transgender athletes were much stricter. The vast majority of the Olympic games you're talking about didn't have any transgender people competing in the games. It wasn't that 'we would have noticed by now', it was that the rules were much stricter and no trans person competed. Then in 2011 the rules were relaxed so gender surgery wasn't a requirement. Then 5 years they were relaxed further. Now they've been relaxed so much....we've noticed. Because it's easier for trans women to compete without having gender surgery surgery, without having to have their testosterone as low as they used to and without having to wait so long in transitioning to be able to compete. This is what happens. You remove rules and you see the results. So the next step with regard to gender is self identification of gender and that's it. That's all you need to do. The number of trans women in women's sport will increase significantly at that point. Then you'll see Mens Sport, and Mixed Sports. The latter category will see mostly trans women in the elite category. That's what people are fighting against.

I'm 59. Used to play rugby at a decent level. If I 'transitioned' today I know, from watching our local rugby club, that I could drop back into playing at the same level in women's rugby that I played men's rugby 30 years ago. That's nuts.

Not true. I am biological "feminine", not girly, female. Married with (grown) children. Love me a man. I played football and ran in high school. Weight trained and kick boxed. I could easily, hands down... kick many a man's a**. Ran faster. Caught a ball better. Jumped higher. I was very high with testosterone in my teen years. I wasn't big on dairy and didn't eat much meat. Actually didn't eat much at all. Fruits. Lots of oranges because I lived amongst the groves. I could jump so damn high just from a stand still. I grew up outdoors, slept under the stars often. Threw rocks with my feet, walked in the new moon dark. I was completely amazing. My biggest fallback was.. I wasn't book smart so I couldn't compete. Otherwise, I assure you I would have been running Olympics. Hands down I would have brought the U.S. world records like you wouldn't believe. Yes. Women can beat men. (The only man I couldn't beat was actually a smoker! But don't smoke!) I'm my own proof. That was thirty years ago.
Well I wouldn't say a man of your height would automatically be stronger on all components since there are many factors (bmi,how much they train,etc) I'd average most men of your height would on average be better at most.Most not all. I think it's best to just have people in the same range of body build to compete. Like if a women who has the build of a quarterback is competing against women around her who are noticeably skinnier than her. But that's just my views you don't have to agree.

There's an easy fix to all of this: 1. They can create their own competitions and compete against/amongst themselves, or 2. Instead of Trans athletes competing against women, let them compete in the men's division...when they get clobbered, flattened and humiliated, then they will understand the struggles female athletes face by competing against Trans athletes. If a biological male is average at best competing against men, but excels when competing against women, that athlete didn't all of a sudden out work every female athlete to achieve their new champion status. I think the problem is the idea of singling out trans individuals as "not" the same as biological men or women. Creating a new competitive category would make more sense in my opinion but part of the game right now is the political show and gaining advantage where it's available.

I have a solution. Just as he or she has a right to participate where ever they choose. Competition against transgender athletes should be just as much of a choice. I am advocating giving every biological women in sports the option to only compete against other biological women.

I have respect on what Rachel is going through as a person, but it is completely unjust for her to compete against biological females. Trashy. BTW, I get crushed by the other male racers in my area. Scott Minor, Jeff Moore and Jeff Avans would leave us all in the dust.

For the longest time I didn’t believe this was actually happening. This is insane.
I lift weights, have been doing so for years. I am a “larger” female at 6’ and 190 ish lbs, I’ve been active, strong, and carried a good bit of muscle my whole life. I can move a good amount of weight for a woman.
My husband who is my height and weighs 30 lbs more than me could walk in the gym any day (he’s not into lifting at the moment) and bench probably 2-3x what I can, and squat and deadlift just as much or more as me. Dude sat on his ass for like 6 years and still has big shoulders and biceps. His quads are literally solid muscle. It’s a biological fact. I’m not mad at it. I’ve been working my ass off for years but any dude in the gym that puts in the same amount of work and training will beat me at every lift hands down. It’s a fucking fact of life and we need to accept that. Men are stronger and it’s something we should appreciate. Women are strong in their own way but it’s just not fair to throw them up against people who were born, developed, and probably trained as males. Enough with this bullshit already.

That's a good point. The majority of people, including many trans people and those in the woke culture , don't think it is fair for tans women to compete with women. It is only a handful of noisy opinionated people that do. I don't know why the administrators, and governments let it happen. Trans women in women sports will ruin the sport entirely. Not only will women become discouraged from joining, but spectators will no longer want to watch either.
They don't have to agree with it but it would be discrimination to respond to it in that manner.

The vast majority of the Olympic games you're talking about didn't have any transgender people competing in the games.
It wasn't that 'we would have noticed by now', it was that the rules were much stricter and no trans person competed.
Then in 2011 the rules were relaxed so gender surgery wasn't a requirement.
Then 5 years they were relaxed further.
Now they've been relaxed so much....we've noticed. Because it's easier for trans women to compete without having gender surgery surgery, without having to have their testosterone as low as they used to and without having to wait so long in transitioning to be able to compete.
This is what happens. You remove rules and you see the results.
So the next step with regard to gender is self identification of gender and that's it. That's all you need to do.
The number of trans women in women's sport will increase significantly at that point. Then you'll see Mens Sport, and Mixed Sports. The latter category will see mostly trans women in the elite category.

Not true. I am biological "feminine", not girly, female. Married with (grown) children. Love me a man. I played football and ran in high school. Weight trained and kick boxed. I could easily, hands down... kick many a man's a**. Ran faster. Caught a ball better. Jumped higher. I was very high with testosterone in my teen years. I wasn't big on dairy and didn't eat much meat. Actually didn't eat much at all. Fruits. Lots of oranges because I lived amongst the groves.
I could jump so damn high just from a stand still. I grew up outdoors, slept under the stars often. Threw rocks with my feet, walked in the new moon dark. I was completely amazing.
My biggest fallback was.. I wasn't book smart so I couldn't compete. Otherwise, I assure you I would have been running Olympics. I think the problem is the idea of singling out trans individuals as "not" the same as biological men or women. Creating a new competitive category would make more sense in my opinion but part of the game right now is the political show and gaining advantage where it's available.
Transgender people in professions like Medicine, law, business...etc we are cool with you, its your right to exist and strive, but y'all need your own category in athleticism. Its not fair to the actual female competitors who had those dreams of succeeding for ages.

@Jimmy Galison Nope, it is her. She has made a major life choice and, looking at her, has gone through some significant treatments and probably even operations. More power to her, and I respect her commitment to all that.
What I don't respect is her blatant attempt to cheat and to justify it with "but I am a woman (legally and medically)". Nope, from the competitive athletics perspective, she is male, so allowing her to compete is patently unfair.
To be a top level athlete takes time. She didn't just decide to do it, and has probably been cycling competitively she was a kid. That means, since she was a boy.
All we need to do is to look at her record when she was a boy compared to her record now that she is a girl. My guess is that as a boy there probably wasn't much success, yet now that she's competing as a woman she is winning stuff and even breaking records.
Even the most deluded apologist has to see there's something not quite right here...

What I am saying is that, if a person is so unhappy in the sex they are born with that they go to the extreme length of having themself surgically altered to the sex they are more comfortable with, then that's fine. I'm not going to stop them.

So to claim that person is indeed a man biologically but isn't medically is absurd. If medicine is no longer based off biology, DNA and the basics of how the human body works then it's going down a dangerous path of speculation and ideology. Medical things CANNOT be based off of people's FEELINGS or we are going to have some gigantic issues down the road, as we already do have.
