Now, let's try that drag race on a snowy abandoned road.... Escalade is my bet since it has an AWD system that is pretty good.
I would go with the Lexus because the upkeep and maintenance is cheaper plus I prefer a luxury sedan or coupe to an SUV. I would really want a high-end British car, but I could never afford one. Lexus FTW!

$90,000 for a GM Hog put in a nice dress, they must be making a boat load of cash off each one.
cadillac is the top end brand... its not chevy or opel.... (not sure if you guys have opel in the states)
That Cadillac is good on it's own and good if it was selling for $70,000. But It just doesn't compete in true quality to a Range Rover or a Mercedes GL at $90,000. GM has made some strides with Cadillac recently but they are still not quite there yet, especially with the Escalade. Just one guys opinion.

Personalmente yo no veo que sea la gran cosa un Mecerdes GL, lo digo porque he tenido la oprtunidad de verlas a las dos juntas y la GL se ve mas pequeña corta y muy angosta, y eso que dicen que es un SUV full-size, parece mas como una SUV midle size. En cambio la Escalade se ve mas llamativa, lujosa y enorme, y mas con la version ESV. Pero bueno, hay que esperar a que Cadillac desvele la Escalade Platinum en Octubre

Yippie True quality in a range rover? thats a good one. The GL isnt much better. Friends GL had to be bought back after continuous problems with the air suspension and computer for 2 months straight. I dont like caddie but to say a benz or rover is better quality is nuts.
LS460 is a much better buy in many different ways and I have driven both.

A better race would be to compare a Lexus SUV withe the Cadillac SUV.
I would rather have and Lexus than a Cadillac Escalades because it looks like and adult car instead of a teenage car

The only problem is it’s a Lexus. Aka. Toyota. You canning get in one and get comfy.
You guys really need to either base your tests in another state or add a disclaimer at the beginning of EVERY video that states you are testing the cars at high altitude, and the stated horsepowers are going to be about 20 percent lower.
That would end a lot of the hate about 0-60 times that you get.

For a V8 Sedan to have a 0-60 in 8 seconds it really needs to be hefty, how much luxury does Lexus bathe you in? Do they have that magical non 2+1 bench back seat?
I think it was a good drag race, usually you don't see these yachts on wheels drag racing.
The LS is rated at 5.4s, this race is a mile above sea level with (no offense) less than professional drivers.

I actually have bought 8 escalades in the past 10 years because I put tons of miles on them, and I love them. I hope to see a review and maybe off road review, because I plan on getting this in a few months. I kind of liked the older navigation system, however. Not a huge fan of the cue system. What do you guys think about the CUE system? Thanks!

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra with the 6.2 and it goes 0-60 in about 5.6 seconds. I also have a Lexus LS460 L and it goes about 5.5 seconds. The Lexus is just way smoother but both are fast

Don't break torque the new GM trucks, the torque management kills them off the line if you do that. Just turn the traction off and mash the go pedal.
Thanks for the comment. FYI: We tried the race both ways and you are correct. The Caddy was faster when we just floored it but never-the-less it still lost the race.

That's the nature of a mashup. It's focused on the buyer. When you go hunting for a new car you have a budget in mind, and there are several cars with different body styles and trims of luxury within the same price range, then you get confused thinking which car is the best for my needs, at least these guys try to clear some of the doubts.

My friends own a 2013 Discovery and an old and new defender, all turbo diesels. They're all astonishing cars, especially the Discovery. I'm Australian we go on numerous expeditions in remote locations (In Aus) and I can tell you not one of these Range Rover vehicles has once broke down. One of my other friends rolled their 06 Discovery in 2011 and bought a Nissan Navara (Nissan Titan I think) and said he can't wait to get back in the another 'Landy' as the Nissan is to agricultural and slow in comparison.
Unreliability is a thing of the past, these days they're just as reliable as anything else.
***** I'd also say ignore these days manufacturer service intervals, like the for RR it's 24,000km per service, I'd do at least an oil and filter change every 10k.

Why WHY would you blast loud music during the whole drag race? The only fucking reason I watched this video was for the drag race. I don't even give a fuck who won it, but you take away half if the experience when you blast the music over the sound of the engines. God that really pissed me off.
for 90K the more premium name, the more usability, and the most luxurious.... we know which one is better in all 3 of those categories... cadillac escalade.
BUT for many people like my self who live in europe OR small urban areas the lexus would be a better choice because of size....

My 07 LS460 RWD 380HP whips all non V Cadillacs all day. RWD LS is lighter and has 26 additional HP.

LS460 takes 8sec from 0 - 60??? What a boring car for that price.
They're a mile above sea level so 0-60 times will be slower than the factories claim.
But it starts everyday and drapes you in luxury without bothering you about being a high maintenance hog. Who needs the headaches that come with it's competition? They even pick it up from your house in the morning when it goes for service, leave you a loaner, drop your car off at your office when it's done and pick up the loaner.If you go in you can get great coffees and a massage. Does it get better than this or should I be stuck on the road with another Mercedes or BMW as I had been so many times in the past waiting for their service to pick me up with a tow truck.

There is no freaking way anybody should have gotten a 9+ second 0-60 time in the escalade or an 8+ in the lexus. These people must have been driving with the parking brake on, because my 2002 escalade does 0-60 in about 7.3 seconds, bone stock.
97336cf they are only getting the slower times because they are in a higher altitude, less air flow, slows the vehicles down.
air density, not air flow. air flow over the vehicle is actually better optimized at higher altitude as there is less resistance. but the power loss can be substantial. since this appears to have been filmed during the warmer part of the year, the density altitude would be equivalent to about 9000 feet, or about 20% power loss!

Tires, road. Everything puts up to a good race if these things are perfect. Its not about engine and power only, i noticed both of these racers didn't use the manual launch control, like holding the brakes and accelerating. It should've gave them a boost in accelerating. Btw, the new escalade is 420hp not 440 and it run from 0-60mph in 6.2 or 6.3. So thats quite fast for a fuckinn suv

Little things make me prefer a Lexus. My LX has a full size spare underneath that has a real spare rim just like the other 4. Just have to take center cap off of the wheel I'm replacing.

Which is a body on frame 90k luxury SUV. Same class kinda other than mine being more off a off roader than a family wagon. I do absolutely love pretty much everything about the new escalade though. So classic Cadillac. Lexus and Cadillac over all the rest.
I never really liked the Escalade that much. Having said that, I am anxiously looking forward to Cadillac's LS competitor (Cadillac LTS). Cadillac LTS vs Lexus LS would be a fair and interesting comparison.
I enjoy TFLcar but you guys have the saddest test track in all of TH-cam land. It's so damn small. Also the "telephone" poles in the "infield" look dangerous. They're a crash hazard with a capital H. Keep the great reviews coming! I enjoy the no nonsense straight to the point delivery. Mashups are great too.
