This is an onslaught training room with different spotting times by the way if it wasn’t clear. But the results of the test still show how designated target will work in random battles. The spotting duration is just longer in randoms is all.

I discussed with my mate and ye ur right. This perk only works when a) u know exactly which bush enemy light is in. Get ready to squint at broken fences. b) u have a mate in platoon to blind shoot that bush for you so u spot light tank exiting from the bush. c) dont waste time on tanks only get spotted by shooting
Damn, that's disappointing. I was wondering why it didn't feel like targets were staying lit as long as advertised, this must be the reason. Given that WG didn't change the actual mechanics of the extra spotting time in the 1.26 update I wonder if WG is ever going to increase the size of the cone or let you snap to the spotted tank. Probably not I guess.
thanks for doing this experiment, I was struggling with the new crew skills, as quite a few don't seem to do what you expect, or just don't seem very good, Now I dont have to worry about choosing Designated target, I can concentrate on the others, I have found Emergency with repairs and side by side to be quite comical on heavy tanks, Emergency triggers if your track is taken off and you take damage, which can boost the repair speed alongside side by side to silly amounts, managed to get track repair time to under 3 seconds on some tanks. . its even handy for light tanks to have emergency if they have a repair crew, seems like a really solid skill for every class.
Thanks for the test. Very interesting. I always envisioned it for camp bush strat where you auto lock on. But even then that seems very very short and not worth considering reloads +aiming time greatly diminish the value. Well that and teammate error in accuracy too.
If I'm too tired to play but still wanna play I can sometimes roll out My ELC Even 90 with a radio set, DT trained gunner and DT directive..for 17 sec spotting time :O
I use this skill so I know what crits ennemy tank haves, if ammo rack is damage I'll shoot towards ammo rack rather than fuel tanks, saddly the aditionnal spotting time increase don't work as intended
It could be semi useful in niche cases i.e. you know roughly thr bush an LT is in. Once they are lit, they are lit for longer. But i agree, not that helpful. Better options. Solids videos lad
Im not convinced with this test, rhm is getting unspotted after 1 sec, it could be that everything happens too fast, also its hard to believe they would change this to such a useless skill
WG adding something to the game after play testing it and it working as advertised, yea right. Has there ever been an update that everything worked correctly, even after having it play tested in WoT?

Is it just important for Onslaught? Or is the skill also useless for random plays?

Well, at least this skill is now comboed with eagle eye which is marginally useful (best for tracking shots)

you need to make note this is an onslaught training room so players don't get the impression this is how randoms work.

The perk is exactly the same as it was before. This is how it’s always worked
