It's so fun, deffo make time for it next year! Just a note, the daytime café is different to the nighttime period (which is more dark and burlesque)- you may actually prefer the nighttime one, although the food is a bit less kawaii. Save about £30-£40 to enjoy some epic food and drinks.

Ah I love daiso so much. They’re a little more expensive in the states (1.50 and up) but everything is so cute I just can’t walk in and come out without a few things. Japan has such a good selection though, I’d go broke.

The Pom Pom Purin Café was mostly empty because we filmed most of the decor after eating, about 10 minutes before closing. We also arrived juuuuust after last orders for food (darn it!)- but in the end those "drinks" were more like meals anyway LOL. The rain and the fact it was only a Tuesday, during off-season (low tourist season) in Japan also likely contributed. I'm very easy to please and I'm not food critic, but I did get the sense of high quality food and innovative flavors with the Kawaii Monster Café food! For example, all those colourful cream bits on the parfait were different flavours, just like my pasta. :D
Haha it's deffo not cheap, but luckily we all knew the average cost before going. I felt like it was so worth it for such a unique experience though. And the food was genuinely really delicious!! Have a great time when you go :3
You will be fine, Tokyo is the safest city in the world. Although you may find you get a little lost sometimes hehe. Just stay away from Kabuchiko, Shinjuku, Roppongi and Shibuya in the later evenings.

You're half right, half wrong. If you live in Japan it's illegal to MAKE tattoo for someone unless you have a medical license, but it's not illegal to have one on your body. However, there is a high stigma against tattoos in Japan and most onsen (bath houses) will ban anyone from using their baths if they have a tattoo (a rare few are tattoo-friendly, though). This is because tattoos are linked to the Yakuza in Japan (i.e. japanese mafia).
Yes your parents have no need to worry about having tattoos while in Japan, except for the onsen thing which they won't be allowed to use (again, there are some rare exceptions). But besides that part, japanese people are used to foreigners having tattoos. ^^

Hahaha it's a genuine concern! But we packed everything home just fine. :D In fact I was hugely under my baggage weight allowance (which surprised me)
Unfortunately some of those shops and monster cafe closed coz of Covid in Harajuku. It’s nice to have the memories to remember
