I think Star Wars and Star Trek go hand-in-hand. They are the definition of sci-fi. Sure, one at be different than the other, but can’t we all just agree that they both have good qualities? Think about it. Star Trek walked so Star Wars could run, and in turn Star Wars revived as the sci-fi genre, and so Star Trek was revived too, introducing a new generation to Star Trek and all its goodness. They’re both awesome: I say we Star Wars and Star Trek fans should unite! Because at the end of the day, they’re both THE undisputed kings of Sci-Fi. Now, let’s set aside our lightsabers and set our phasers from Kill to, well, nothing, and go hop in our spaceships and have a nice chat. I’ll drink my Blue Milk, and you can drink some Saurian Brandy (or Romulan Ale if you prefer).
Meanwhile a bunch of large asteroids with rockets is heading towards the Death Star and Enterprise-D, and if you listen closely you can hear the faint sounds of "WAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!".
From The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars had The Force and Force ghosts. The original film had mentalist tricks passed off as actual magic powers by a hobo who was later killed in a duel. By comparison, the geometrically growing psychic powers in Where No Man has Gone Before (on a lifeless planet full of trees) is inexplicable magic. Ignoring this second Star Trek pilot, and long at Star Wars from the second film onward, Star Wars has deliberately inexplicable magic while Star Trek has technobabble.
@@davidwuhrer6704 Interesting that the first episode of each series started off opposite of what the series would later become, in terms of scientific explanation.
@@krakenmahboy Is that so? Some episodes of Star Trek try to work in scientific explanations, but most don't. Where No Man Has Gone Before does, with its references to mathematics and psychology. Back then, things like mind reading and clairvoyance were still the subject of active research. However, the approach to working cutting edge science into the series was often based on a fundamental misunderstanding of hypotheses. Or as Spock says in The Alternative Factor: "Science has conceded the possibility." And Where No Man Has Gone Before is the second pilot. The Cage was first. Star Wars never bothered with science or plausibility. The laser swords aren't swords, or lasers; the turbo lasers aren't lasers either. Nothing really makes sense. How long does it take the Millennium Falcon to go from Tatooine to Alderaan at 1½ times the speed of light? How many parsecs is that? Between The Star Wars and Episode V, a lot of things were changed. Foremost, Darth Vader, the treacherous henchman, became a military leader of his own, and the unseen figurehead emperor became a pro-actively scheming politician. That the Force became a tangible force is not even the biggest inconsistency: Changing the dialogue and adding a voice-over in post-production had already opened the possibility, even if the plot doesn't support it.
@@Tim23Vicious Not gonna lie, aside from the fact I've seen the "Star Wars" movies more than enough times, when it comes to Star Trek, I only have seen "Wrath of Khan", and the new Star Trek Trilogy ("Into Darkness" was great); maybe eventually I'll get into the older series. Both Star Trek and Star Wars had some terrible special effects, and some great ones. Explosions in space looked pretty terrible in both of them.
Meanwhile, there’s a certain WWII battleship being turned into a spaceship
Star trek doesnt need action to be interesting
Star wars is for everyone who wants to watch a fun sci fi action movie
Star trek is for people who want to watch serious sci fi adventures and politics
I need two more episodes and a corporate buyout that milks this for all it has
The Expanse:
Allow me to introduce myself-
“So what DOES count then?”
“The Clone Wars cartoon and the original movies. Except the Ewoks.”
Well he’s not wrong
The 2003 clone wars cartoon
@@Studiocarre2 both were good
* sniff * this is CINEMA
And then the black templars arrived
Stargate is the best
I like them both for different reasons. I don't understand the conflict.
They’re both awesome:
I say we Star Wars and Star Trek fans should unite!
"Star Wars is like philosophy for children" You see it's funny because that's the point.
Darth Vaders chest piece is an NES controller
They're dead, Jim. They're both dead.
Damn it, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a hard sci-fi scriptwriter!
Is this a repost? I remember this from so long ago!? Still funny
That was a great laugh
But Stargate is better~
Meanwhile a bunch of large asteroids with rockets is heading towards the Death Star and Enterprise-D, and if you listen closely you can hear the faint sounds of "WAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!".
This screams early 2010s
I think both are nerdish and I'm in for the absurd of both
This is like arguing if Starfox is better than Bucky O'Hare And The Toad Wars.
nah, star trek literally had a real space shuttle named after the enterprise, also star wars ship design is ugly compared to trek
Didn't this video release like years ago?
I saw this before
I always found trek the more magical series and Star Wars more grounded.
Don't you mean the other way around?
Or as Spock says in The Alternative Factor: "Science has conceded the possibility."
And Where No Man Has Gone Before is the second pilot.
That the Force became a tangible force is not even the biggest inconsistency: Changing the dialogue and adding a voice-over in post-production had already opened the possibility, even if the plot doesn't support it.
star trek is smarter while star wars has more mass-appeal action scenes
"Be nice to Data, and don't be racist to aliens. There. I solved Star Trek."
🤣🤣🤣
@@bridgerhibbert2993 and a family full of Star Trek fans I'm the only Star wars one and they absolutely hate when I pull that line out on them 🤣🤣
@@Tim23Vicious Not gonna lie, aside from the fact I've seen the "Star Wars" movies more than enough times, when it comes to Star Trek, I only have seen "Wrath of Khan", and the new Star Trek Trilogy ("Into Darkness" was great); maybe eventually I'll get into the older series.
It's kinda funny, but for me, older movies of that kind of quality tend to be hard to put on the TV, but once they are actually on, they get better.
IMAO, the best Star Trek movie is Forbidden Planet.
Classic video ❤
Where is the Star Gate community to mediate them
If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the meal was cooked a long time ago!
advanced enough tech is magic if you went to cavemen with a flamethrower they would worship you as a god
A friend of mine described it to me pretty well as a kid you have to be a mega nerd to like Star Trek internal magical space wizards with laser swords in Star Trek
I like them both
As someone who has consumed basically all forms of media from both franchises, I'll give the following short verdict. Corny and lame soap operas, with neither respecting the laws of nature in space which makes both unscientific fiction.
im sorry but trek is incredibly deep politically and socially, just because it didn't show the enterprise taking thousands of years to pass between two solar systems doesen't mean its entire message is inert
