One of the things I’ve noticed and doing sound tests is that higher quality sound does not jump out at you right away. When I first used a pair of high-end headphones I thought there’s no big deal to this they’re not that nice and I was going back-and-forth between my new headphones in my old. But after using them for approximately 20 minutes and then going back to the previous low quality pair the difference was night and day.
Yep once you been listening to xm4 going back to anything less than that quality. The thing about hifi audio is that it adds extra things that aren't normally in crappy like maybe a quite synth in the background. The other is spatial audio..good headphones feels like the sound came from the direction it came from. I have literally thought a bark from a dog in the background has tripped me up
@@monsterhunter445 xm4 should be considered very meh compared to true audiophile headphones. In actual facts when you wear things like the HD650 6xx 560s or Sundara you will find the Xm4 to sound garbage due to it overwhelming bass.
That's absolutely true, bad sound sticks out like a sore thumb. But if your randomly trying headphones u can't really gauge the quality without some sort of reference
i dont think hes 100% correct. yes, theres a good bit of "i want an iphone 4 because its an iphone 4.. i meam airpods". however, i used plenty of expensive alternatives and the airpods pro, imo, are sufficiently better, heres why: - convnience. the box is small and easy to pocket. the airpods are easy to put in your ear and take off. two things where they beat everyone else - comfort. you can keep them in for the whole day and not feel anything and really thats it. theres some with better sound. better battery life. better noise cancelling. but none are as convenient and comfortable.
@@kangsterizer I have to say, I tried airpods pro's and OnePlus buds pro, and to be fair, both are pretty much the exact same for me. But, since I only had a limited time to test the airpods, I can't really say for long trips. My OnePlus buds pro are not uncomfortable even after wearing them for 6 hours straight.

I tried a lot of clones and some of them sound really good, but don't survive more than a few months. After going through a lot of clones and trying earphones from various brands, I've settled on the soundpeats TrueAir2 because the fit is similar to Apple airpods, the sound is good, battery lasts a long time and they pair reliably.
I am a re-seller so I have used pretty much every headphone from every manufacturer and you are right. I have had many customer come and try to return those. I accept return for all of my headphones except the fakes. They have 50% failure rate in my experience

I just spent a lot of time trying various wireless earphones and this is the best I've found so far at an affordable price. Technology wise, I prefer the haylou GT1 because the connectivity is great and I can even pair one side with my laptop and the other side with my phone, at the same time. But Haylou doesn't have an airpod style fit, which I find more comfortable for prolonged use.

One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.
Rule number one for any form of audio testing/comparing is to gain match, since us humans have a tendency to like louder more. So it wasn’t really a fair test. But still interesting!
But if the headphones are actually quieter, or limited, how can they gain match? I feel this is more a test between the total quality of the item than the actual audio output alone.

@@tjl2836 But if it's being played off the same device at the same set volume, then the lower output of the fake ones is a inherent flaw which they're evaluating of the overall device. if you're playing the same source materiel from the same device, it's already gainstaged because the source is the same. What you're describing is just turning up the volume, i.e. the output of the headphones. Gainstaging is the output of the source.
I actually bought some fake airpods pro (they're called Navapods) and they still work fine (bought them 2 months ago). Everything looks the same, same functions and the sound is decent too (I'd say 8/10 compared to the retails). So yeah, clones aren't bad but you need to choose wisely lol
This is so funny, the test reflects my experience perfectly. Real Airpods2 are virtually indistinguishable from the fake ones, while the Pros are more difficult to replicate because of the ANC algorithms
guarantee that if he'd have used propulsepods replicas it would have been a lot closer. They probably bought the worse possible clones to prove their point. I agree though that most replicas are crap, but not all of them luckily.
To avoid these knock offs and still get great headphones at a bargain. Buy headphones that don't try to imitate the competitor %100. Most of the time these clone companies spend way more on R&D for the accurate look and feel of a product than giving them quality componentry.

By far the best pair of wireless buds are some like 20$ vankyo ones. The case holds a charge literally for weeks. I charged the case a month ago and its still not dead, its nuts and the buds sound so good. I literally couldnt believe it. Also the chargeable case has saved me many times when my phones died, just plug it into the usb port on it and ive gotten enough juice to make the call or get directions. Seriously, check em out if you dont wanna spend much

Real AirPods have a trash mix? I know most of the knockoffs do but whenever I talk to someone with real AirPods it sounds just fine. Nothing special but it’s a tiny mic in a tiny earbud.

Probably the #1 thing that makes me prefer Airpods (non-pro) over any other alternatives is that it seems they are the only ones that do NOT have the suction-tight ear fitting that almost all other fully wireless earbuds do these days. It's pretty hard to find any alternatives without it. The airpods still sit in my ear safely and play great sound, but i can still hear the outside world *enough* so that i can pick up on what's going on around me (e.g., at work, gym, running). Having my ears totally blocked is a little unsettling when I'm trying to move around and do anything. With the regular airpods, if I need to talk to anyone (and hear them), i can just pause my music and hear them fine. With the fully sealing kind, i definitely have to pause and fully remove one of my buds to hear anything. Also during strenuous exercise the suction-tight earbuds that block the entire ear canal opening honestly affect my breathing; slightly, but enough to be distracting. For running specifically, they produce a subtle but uncomfortable negative pressure spike inside my ears upon every step. (Kinda hard to describe without experiencing first hand). The regular airpods don't do that since they don't totally seal off the ear openings. Anyway thank you for reading my novella.

I got a pair of AirPod knock offs last year out of curiosity (also not wanting to spend real AirPod money) and I'll say they were great for the first few months. Unfortunately, after those first few months they stopped being able to hold a charge for more than an hour or so and the case began breaking down. Pairing and inaccurate battery reporting were also issues as shown in this video.
I mean if you managed to do something similar to someone else but cheaper, you would be too, for example, the RX6500 is really bad but compared withe RTX3050 the MSRP difference and the similarities in performance makes it a little bit more appealing and then the Store prices makes it even more appealing.

Every time I see these prices I rage about our dirty govt & sellers. If you think gaming parts are priced bad, wait till you see electronic instruments & used datacenter gear. Sellers here have the audacity to stock old parts & models & still not put them on sale. Even 2yrs old gaming laptops barely have decent discounts. Actually, that 50 unit roundup was phenomenal and i got the J29's from the rec and have yet to regret them. I wish LTT did a more recent big roundup of stuff we actually have the money to buy and want/need but wouldn't buy shit just to try.
The knockoff/fakes culture in China is one of my favorite aspects of living here. It's really cool to go to the markets in Shenzhen and see brand-new versions of everything I saw last month. People there are constantly iterating and tweaking things not to mention the mod culture there. Love it and love trying out the products on the cheap. I had a pair of airpod knockoffs I dailied for a year and was sad when I accidentally dipped them in water and couldn't find a replacement. Edit: Also forgot to mention that I pay less than a quarter of what was quoted in the video for these items and they're probably not a great deal if you're buying them online.
Also really cool to just throw away the old stuff from a month ago and buy a bunch of new future e-waste for a few bucks. It doesn't scale, but cheap folks just don't care.

I had some cheap Soundcore earbuds and they sounded just as good m than my EarPod’s pro. They even fit my ears better tbh. The only problem i had was they lacked apples features.
Yeah, especially if you're using an Android device. The newer sound core products are taking advantage of better codec like aptx, ldac. Soundcore app has the best EQ outside of qudelix 5k ( a Bluetooth adapter which offers a parametric equalizer). Even a $60 pair from SoundCore usually has app support.
Hopefully the upcoming controller video goes over the joycon drift- because it is very long term fixable (unknown if it could be considered 'permanent', only been like a year since a true good way to solve it has come)
Just to add some perspective from someone that enjoys Airpods for practical reasons (not social/fashion), I enjoy them primarily for convenience. I like the fact that they just work with my iPhone & iPad, I like that they pair automatically and can transition relatively seamlessly between my 2 Apple devices based on whichever happens to be playing audio at the time. I've actually had to use the "Find My" feature a couple of times to figure out where I'd absent mindedly sat them in the past. If at any point I change over to another brand of phone or tablet, I'd likely replace the airpods with something else. The only reason I found out that my first pair of Airpods Pros were fake, was because none of those previously mentioned convenience features worked properly like they did on my regular Airpods (that and the different sized silicone tips didn't seem to fit fake pros correctly)

As someone who works with them I can't hear anything I'm listening to because they're so quite. I've tried numorous devices including game consoles.. and they're super quite. Don't know what happened! I've tried resetting or repairing .. nothing works. I only had them like 6 months before this happened. Makes them useless and I costly error unfortunately
This is so relevant, my father recently bought me a pair of AirPods Pro, he didn't know they were fake. I for a long time couldn't tell if they were fake, but "Designed by in California" on the wireless case, Designed by Apple in Clifornia" on the box, noise cancellation not working made me realize that they were fake.

Honestly, if you want wireless earbuds - just go for something reputable within your budget. We live in an age where knockoffs are for the people who just want to "look" like they can afford the Apple price tag or fashion statement. LTT has an awesome video on budget wireless buds, and there's even more epic names out there for around the same prices as the air pod fakes in this video.
@@FaithfulFrets there is more to bass then just "bass" sub base, mid base, the way it interacts with the lower mids. Most people making these judgments probably don't have perfect hearing or the ability to place a frequency after hearing it. So yes graphs are helpful and most importantly unbiased

I've never understood the cost of headphones the last few years. I'm still using wired sony in ears. $50 is the absolute most I'd ever spend on headphones. And I love music but I prefer speakers to private listening, if I'm using headphones, perfect quality other than streaming higher bitrates. Like if I'm 80% of the way to perfect audio just out and about, I'm happy with that. I mean I'm doing things anyway. I enjoy music at home, I just listen when out and about if that makes sense.
thin walls and my taste of rock and metal mean that I would pay more for my headphones since I use them almost exclusively. I buy IEM's and connect them to a bluetooth dac.

I've gone through 4 pairs of replica AirPod Pros. They work for about 1 year of heavy use until the battery stops holding charge. It's a bad battery management thing because other established brands (like Soundcore) don't have this problem.

Sound quality is on par with the real thing and can be customised (hardware EQ presets) using their app. ANC is brilliant. And it's compatible with everything, even latest iOS after an update. They're so cheap that I don't bother buying other brands anymore.
I love how informative all this research was, most of the time when it comes to product reviews, there either is little difference, minding the product cost, or are straight-up incomarapable. In this case, however, FakePodsTM 2 seemingly outdid the AirPods 2, in contrast to the rest of the lineup. That's a straight way to getting yourself to choose whether you want something that looks like a not-so-aged AirPods pair, or something that accounts for the actual quality for the same price.
My problem right now is everyone is selling fake airpods on Facebook for retail prices instead of the fake price really annoys me trying to get real airpods you have to go to a genuine retailer but even they sell the fakes case and point a company called CEX in my town in Scotland are selling fake airpods and worst of all there selling cloned n64 and nes games for 100s of pounds either there not doing correct testing or there fully aware and don't care
cex don’t really legit check products, they just check if they work and if they do that enough, if the airpods pair like normal and they have regular sound they will sell them
Relating to the rant at the end - I've said it before and I will say it again "Apple is not a tech company. They are a fashion company that specialized in electronics." And like any other fashion company, there are entire economies dedicated to copying & replicating their 'designs' at a lower cost.
I think the fact that I used the first gen AirPods almost every single day for 2 years and the battery life held up says a lot and my new pros connect to multiple devices instantly without a hitch.
I've owned the Blvcknoir Airpods 2 clones for approx. two years now (ordered them when the infamous Undox Threapy video dropped). They took 3 months to get to me (I know some people didn't receive them, but that's another story). Still use them, they're fine soundwise, but the battery life is about an hour now after two years of light to medium use. The only thing I'm worried about now is, what do I replace them with if they die?
Ive bought some a half year ago for 25$ and they look and fell the same. (AirPods 2) Just the sound quality is a little bit worse, but you wouldnt hear it, if you dont have original ones :D
I like that in the intro you hear Linus scream in the background and in another Linus video you heard Riley scream in the background and I like to believe this is the same moment in time
I was genuinely surprised how good the airpod pros are, but I still think my linsoul t2's are much better. I'll stay wired to my phone until I can get repairability like linsoul earphones.
I've found that often times people don't really prefer "better" audio. It's like TVs and pictures. People don't like "better" TVs and photos. They like TVs/photos with the saturation turned way up, high brightness, many colors, etc. It's kinda the same with audio. Good audio is often neutral or not super colored. Same with photos and tvs etc, accurate ones are just somewhat "boring" if you're not into them on an enthusiast level. Audio is a little different than just a reference monitor vs a shitty TV on bestbuy display mode, but often people will still prefer "fun" sound signatures over reference or more accurate ones. Of course it's all subjective in the end. You like what you like, and that's fine. AirPods were never known to have the best sound to begin with.
Given the MASSIVE price disparities do you get value for money with the real ones? I bet most average people would be perfectly happy with fakes especially if they don't have real ones to compare to. Fakes are getting VERY good now compared to how they used to be back in the day.
Yeah, the real ones work properly in all their advertised features. Don't bother with fakes, if you don't like AirPods sound quality or price get something cheaper but genuine.
The thing about the genuine airpods are that you can get them replaced if u get a airpod with bad battery or case. Good luck finding the customer service of the knock off products. The knockoff might last 2 days or 2 years u just dont know.
would have been nice to see a more useful test like giving a member of staff a random pair real/fake and just asking for a score on sound quality, build etc - without telling them they may be receiving a real or fake pair.
It would make sense for the Airpods 2 to be the hardest to differentiate in terms of usage, since the fakes of these have been developed and refined the longest (also the original is the oldest Apple true wireless earphone product) so it has time to catch up and beat the original in some aspects. While the others… not as much time to refine but you get the idea.
i have some tozo as well. Given that I only use them when i can't use full size speakers or (practically speaking) over the ear headphones, I'm very satisfied for the price.
Controller joystick repair will be cool. I would also love to see knockoff controllers get a comparison too, there's clones for almost every controller.

What is most shocking is that apple have done this for years. Peoples expectations are just low or in this case, unaware of the quality they pay for.
By far the best pair of wireless buds are some like 20$ vankyo ones. The case holds a charge literally for weeks. I charged the case a month ago and its still not dead, its nuts and the buds sound so good. I literally couldnt believe it. Also the chargeable case has saved me many times when my phones died, just plug it into the usb port on it and ive gotten enough juice to make the call or get directions. Seriously, check em out if you dont wanna spend much

Real AirPods have a trash mix? I know most of the knockoffs do but whenever I talk to someone with real AirPods it sounds just fine. Nothing special but it’s a tiny mic in a tiny earbud.

Probably the #1 thing that makes me prefer Airpods (non-pro) over any other alternatives is that it seems they are the only ones that do NOT have the suction-tight ear fitting that almost all other fully wireless earbuds do these days. It's pretty hard to find any alternatives without it. The airpods still sit in my ear safely and play great sound, but i can still hear the outside world *enough* so that i can pick up on what's going on around me (e.g., at work, gym, running). Having my ears totally blocked is a little unsettling when I'm trying to move around and do anything. With the regular airpods, if I need to talk to anyone (and hear them), i can just pause my music and hear them fine. With the fully sealing kind, i definitely have to pause and fully remove one of my buds to hear anything. Also during strenuous exercise the suction-tight earbuds that block the entire ear canal opening honestly affect my breathing; slightly, but enough to be distracting. For running specifically, they produce a subtle but uncomfortable negative pressure spike inside my ears upon every step. (Kinda hard to describe without experiencing first hand). The regular airpods don't do that since they don't totally seal off the ear openings. Anyway thank you for reading my novella.

I got a pair of AirPod knock offs last year out of curiosity (also not wanting to spend real AirPod money) and I'll say they were great for the first few months. Unfortunately, after those first few months they stopped being able to hold a charge for more than an hour or so and the case began breaking down. Pairing and inaccurate battery reporting were also issues as shown in this video.

The knockoff/fakes culture in China is one of my favorite aspects of living here. It's really cool to go to the markets in Shenzhen and see brand-new versions of everything I saw last month. People there are constantly iterating and tweaking things not to mention the mod culture there. Love it and love trying out the products on the cheap. I had a pair of airpod knockoffs I dailied for a year and was sad when I accidentally dipped them in water and couldn't find a replacement.
Edit: Also forgot to mention that I pay less than a quarter of what was quoted in the video for these items and they're probably not a great deal if you're buying them online.

I had some cheap Soundcore earbuds and they sounded just as good m than my EarPod’s pro. They even fit my ears better tbh. The only problem i had was they lacked apples features.
Yeah, especially if you're using an Android device. The newer sound core products are taking advantage of better codec like aptx, ldac. Soundcore app has the best EQ outside of qudelix 5k ( a Bluetooth adapter which offers a parametric equalizer). Even a $60 pair from SoundCore usually has app support.

Just to add some perspective from someone that enjoys Airpods for practical reasons (not social/fashion), I enjoy them primarily for convenience. I like the fact that they just work with my iPhone & iPad, I like that they pair automatically and can transition relatively seamlessly between my 2 Apple devices based on whichever happens to be playing audio at the time. I've actually had to use the "Find My" feature a couple of times to figure out where I'd absent mindedly sat them in the past. If at any point I change over to another brand of phone or tablet, I'd likely replace the airpods with something else. The only reason I found out that my first pair of Airpods Pros were fake, was because none of those previously mentioned convenience features worked properly like they did on my regular Airpods (that and the different sized silicone tips didn't seem to fit fake pros correctly)
I liked my set too.. until one day they lost like 40% volume, and then they're completely unusable to me now. As someone who works with them I can't hear anything I'm listening to because they're so quite. I've tried numorous devices including game consoles.. and they're super quite. Don't know what happened! I've tried resetting or repairing .. nothing works. I only had them like 6 months before this happened. Makes them useless and I costly error unfortunately

This is so relevant, my father recently bought me a pair of AirPods Pro, he didn't know they were fake. I for a long time couldn't tell if they were fake, but "Designed by in California" on the wireless case, Designed by Apple in Clifornia" on the box, noise cancellation not working made me realize that they were fake.

Honestly, if you want wireless earbuds - just go for something reputable within your budget. We live in an age where knockoffs are for the people who just want to "look" like they can afford the Apple price tag or fashion statement.

I've never understood the cost of headphones the last few years. I'm still using wired sony in ears. $50 is the absolute most I'd ever spend on headphones. And I love music but I prefer speakers to private listening, if I'm using headphones, perfect quality other than streaming higher bitrates. Like if I'm 80% of the way to perfect audio just out and about, I'm happy with that. I mean I'm doing things anyway. I enjoy music at home, I just listen when out and about if that makes sense.

I've gone through 4 pairs of replica AirPod Pros. They work for about 1 year of heavy use until the battery stops holding charge. It's a bad battery management thing because other established brands (like Soundcore) don't have this problem.

Sound quality is on par with the real thing and can be customised (hardware EQ presets) using their app. ANC is brilliant. And it's compatible with everything, even latest iOS after an update. They're so cheap that I don't bother buying other brands anymore.
I'd love to see Sarahs and Lyods reactions when they so confidently chose the fake airpods 2.
I love how informative all this research was, most of the time when it comes to product reviews, there either is little difference, minding the product cost, or are straight-up incomarapable. In this case, however, FakePodsTM 2 seemingly outdid the AirPods 2, in contrast to the rest of the lineup. That's a straight way to getting yourself to choose whether you want something that looks like a not-so-aged AirPods pair, or something that accounts for the actual quality for the same price.

I've owned the Blvcknoir Airpods 2 clones for approx. two years now (ordered them when the infamous Undox Threapy video dropped). They took 3 months to get to me (I know some people didn't receive them, but that's another story). Still use them, they're fine soundwise, but the battery life is about an hour now after two years of light to medium use. The only thing I'm worried about now is, what do I replace them with if they die?

I was genuinely surprised how good the airpod pros are, but I still think my linsoul t2's are much better. I'll stay wired to my phone until I can get repairability like linsoul earphones.
My Sony ones are only good to about 60 feet prom the phone indoors before it starts have problems. Oh well.
I've found that often times people don't really prefer "better" audio. It's like TVs and pictures. People don't like "better" TVs and photos. They like TVs/photos with the saturation turned way up, high brightness, many colors, etc.
It's kinda the same with audio. Good audio is often neutral or not super colored. Same with photos and tvs etc, accurate ones are just somewhat "boring" if you're not into them on an enthusiast level.
Audio is a little different than just a reference monitor vs a shitty TV on bestbuy display mode, but often people will still prefer "fun" sound signatures over reference or more accurate ones.
Of course it's all subjective in the end. You like what you like, and that's fine. AirPods were never known to have the best sound to begin with.

Yeah, the real ones work properly in all their advertised features. Don't bother with fakes, if you don't like AirPods sound quality or price get something cheaper but genuine.
The thing about the genuine airpods are that you can get them replaced if u get a airpod with bad battery or case. Good luck finding the customer service of the knock off products. The knockoff might last 2 days or 2 years u just dont know.

It would make sense for the Airpods 2 to be the hardest to differentiate in terms of usage, since the fakes of these have been developed and refined the longest (also the original is the oldest Apple true wireless earphone product) so it has time to catch up and beat the original in some aspects. While the others… not as much time to refine but you get the idea.

The tozo nc9s are amazing. They were $50 on Amazon and don't sound as good as Sony ones but the battery is way better.
i have some tozo as well. Given that I only use them when i can't use full size speakers or (practically speaking) over the ear headphones, I'm very satisfied for the price.
