    Great work. It's very helpful.

Helpful. Sure. Why no torque wrench settings? Do the bushes at the ends of the shocks have metal linings? Or are we pushing bolts through rubber? Never done the job, so thought I'd ask. You industry guys forget we DIY guys don't have a hoist, and we don't have a car to run off to pick up parts. We have to be organized. No back up.

Because rear shocks are "almost vertical" (lets say at 60 degress to the ground) the rubber inserts don't twist as much as would be the case with say control arms(which are horizontalish). Nevertheless, the question is when to tighten the upper and lower bolt of the new shock...... When wheel is taking the weight of the car? or, when car on stands but jack is pushing the lower arm up to simulate the "on ground" situation. Or, when the car is on ground but loaded up. No one position if perfect, so you get some twisting of the rubber.

You're absolutely right to tighten the bolt when the wheel is taking the weight of the car or when the jack raises the lower arm to simulate an "on the ground" situation.

We cannot recommend another method in which this replacement will be within the scope of safety precautions, otherwise we recommend to contact a car service.

Wheet bolt torque is 180Nm, not 120Nm
