Very enjoyable, unfortunately I am at a stand still with my LS swap because of teen and single digit temps here in MI. Inside pole barn but no heat, so as usual I loose about 5+ months of anything enjoyable here. looking forward to your next installment.
Hi Dave I struggle with a similar issue here in Canada, all I do is suit up and keep on keeping on, no need to let the cold stop progress! Things go slower but never stop!
WA got it's cold snow week (yes I know a week lol) temps were 25F ish I used a forced air propane heater to get my garage hot enough to even paint my engine bay. uses a lot of propane, (1/2 a tank a day) but it gets hot enough to be comfortable
3:28 I now remove the engine mount bolts this is obviously very dangerous as a giant heavy engine is now unbolted... (now I'm going to finish taking the rest of the car apart).🤣 5:39 Then the engine comes out. Good video though. It's like an episode of How it's made but this is How it's unmade.
At 9:24 I would use the Osmo Dji action camera 📷 with a small led attachment while using the app on your phone so you could see how your framing looks on your phone. I’m gonna give it a try. I hate being busy with work and never make time to do my videos 😞
it's not a framing thing, but rather there's no room for a camera or even a small GoPro under the dash. there's almost no room for me either, it's hard working under the dash
Well generally speaking as much as I have tried to love the 305 it kinda falls a bit short with so many other great gen I options. I am more sad because yet another classic got an LS but I do understand his motives behind this decision. (less weight on the front axles because of the Aluminium block). With that said I think the 305 is quite a decent little engine to push like 300hp and have a nice old school cruiser that you can fix at home as opposed to any over engineered nightmare that came along in the 2000s and up.
9:09 aww you just gave me an idea Since I’m not going to be using my factory cruise control I can used that whole for running other accessory wires like my 4ga amplifier wire and other wire controls right?
What did you use to plug the fire wall holes and fender hole from all of the stock wiring? I'm doing a similar build and running into issues finding plugs that fit these holes
@@3rdGenGuyo ok do you have knowledge about the o2 sensor signal wire, mine was cut while driving I replaced the portion cut with new connector with butt connector and crimped heatshrunk it I am getting good fluctuating while pressing the gas but in idle the millivolts read 8-900 milivolts not sure if that's normal

I used a Catch can from a BMW m3. co-worker sold it to me ha ha. Vacuum reference from the intake. sucks from the passenger valve cover. driver side PCV is routed to the intake for the clean side.
I don't need to do 90% of this because I am putting a 350 with a TBI right back in it's place. It would have been nice if you had shown disconnecting the engine from the transmission.
One of the few 3rd Gen channels that is not a hack when working on the car. My favorite channel for Diy guides on 3rd gens.
I like all the detail in your videos. That’s going to be a lot to remember to put back lol.
This video was definitely very helpful i have an RS 305 that I’m going to be ls swapping and this was very detailed ! Keep up the good work !
Excellent presentation!
This will be a great project

I'm on the IL/WI boarder and am in a similar situation.
I'm in Ohio. It's 17 degrees and windy as I type this. My son's 3rd gen is on hold until warmer (30+ degrees) days.

@@DougieeStyle Ya, I used to, but not anymore. Wish you all the best with your project.
Beautiful. I will be gutting my engine bay like this when the time comes for an LS SWAP. I agree with you, my underpowered 305 gotta go! 😂
Such great videos, keep up the great work!

How on earth did you get those engine mount bolts out? On mine theres a nut on the back which is near impossible to get to
Now that is a serious diet for that car!

💪🏾👍🏾 great video! The music in the background reminds me of that show "how its made"
Great video!
Sad video for me. The reason I was drawn to this channel is because of the 305.

it's about a 1.25in hole, so ya.
you can stuff a lot of wire through there.
What did you use to plug the fire wall holes and fender hole from all of the stock wiring? I'm doing a similar build and running into issues finding plugs that fit these holes
round holes can be plugged with cheap plastic plugs and RTV.
other square holes will get 3d printed plates or just something I cut from aluminum.
Hey do you know where the o2 sensor ground would be on a 1989 Chevrolet camaro i heard its on the back of the cylinder head not sure what side
TBI o2 sensors are a single wire. the ground is where the threads contact the exhaust manifold.

the voltage will vary.
you'd have to look and see if thirdgen.org has voltage charts for the O2 sensors

find a local junkyard and ask what they have.
as far as cheap?
no, LS swaps aren't cheap, but you pay more for A better engine.
@@3rdGenGuy Okay I definitely will do thanks for the fast reply I appreciate it
@3rd Gen Guy hi I have more question for you sir? What vehicle did your engine and Transmission at the time come out of ?
a 2001 firebird.
98-02 camaro/firebird engine/trans combos fit in 3rd gens without any major issue unlike the truck engines.
@@3rdGenGuy OK thanks that what I will be looking for by the way by any chance are u located in Florida sir ?
If I’m not LS swapping can I leave the cable harnesses?
don't remove stock wires if you aren't swapping engines yes.
What set up did you use for pcv and catch can for the new LS

If you want a new video i have a greasable door hinge kit from Hawks for my drivers door to install lol i am in renton

I did, in my 700r4 removal video.
oh look everybody, another ls swap project..
as opposed to what?
the 9 BILLION 350 swaps?
or the MILLION 454 swaps?
Unique doesn't=better
But can I keep my t5 Trans if I ls swap tho?
you can, but T5 are only rated for 250 Lb-ft.
meaning any small mishap will cause that t5 to blow up
@@3rdGenGuy so basically don't get sideways and don't clutch kick 😅
That fuel injected 305 wouldn’t actually be slow if you had a manual transmission.
that 305tbi would be slightly less slow if it was a T5 car.
it made 122 horsepower on a dyno ha ha
I need that old engine
that 305 is long gone. it's in a 84 z28 I believe
